Not really. You can only claim a loss if you lose it, literally. The fact it is vacant is not a loss.

I wanted to STAY in this unit, because the roommates were willing to move out into their own place. But that's when they denied us to stay where I am.
Hastily, I point out that I don't agree with your landlord at all. And I represent a large number of them. The sane ones will rent to anyone who can make the payments, irrespective of their income.
But some management companies are persnickety, and ain't no one got time for that.

My complex, where I've lived coming up on 2 years, won't rent a place to me, because she and I do not make 4 times the rent. I don't mean the two of us together. I mean each of us, separately.
We'd have to make over 80k, combined, to live here.
So, if I'm doing the math correctly, your monthly rent is around $833? You live in a city, if I recall, so the amount seems reasonable.
Without judgment, because the landlord wants to be assured that a sudden loss of job won't result in an inability to pay rent, it doesn't seem unreasonable to expect both tenants to be fiscally sound.
But if you have vacant units, like, maybe you should reconsider your policies? Because empty units generate zero rent.

RE: MSB's new management
I am posting here because I think we need to add at least one more admin to our team.
Right now, I have been put in charge of setting policy and managing the place, generally. Mietze is another admin with similar authority. Arkandel remains an admin solely because he's the fellow with the knowledge and capability to upgrade the platform (nodeBB) from his end. That means we have two admins charged with management.
I think we need a third admin with policy and management authority here. I am looking for a veteran member here to help out. We are not looking for a "yes" person; we are looking for someone we can work with. I personally am looking for someone with familiarity with nodeBB management (that would take Arkandel out of the picture, which he wants) but I would be happy for anyone willing to serve as another set of eyes.
PM me if interested..

RE: Dead Celebrities 2021 Edition
@cassite
I have moved many of the posts over to the Politics section. I left the portion of the thread where we discussed whether it was permissible to celebrate someone's death.
It is permissible.
In the case of one Rush Limbaugh, the reason I believe some people are elated is because the man celebrated the deaths of LGBTQ members to AIDS, among other things. This smells political, and I think people would rather have such political matters moved elsewhere.
So, I moved them.

Killing Dead Identities
We aren't perfect here, but we can do our best to accommodate others that we do not cause actual physical or emotional harm. That is the spirit of this policy.
Recognizing that a member may elect to kill their dead identity before, during, or after transition, admins will review requests for deletions from such members as requests to have their accounts' posts delete from the forum. As with requests for account deletion, we will generally grant these with no questions asked.
Recognizing the amount of work it takes to grant such requests, the deletion of the posts may not be immediate or even completed within 24 hours, depending on the circumstances. Admins will do their best to delete the posts in a timely fashion, but request the requestors' patience through that process.
Be advised that we unfortunately cannot guarantee full erasure. While it is relatively simple to search for posts made from an account, it is exceedingly difficult to search the entire board for quotes and links. So while we can and will delete posts originating from an account, we will not be deleting quotes and links to such posts.
In short: we will do our best in good faith to fulfill the request.
N.B.: This policy may change as nodeBB continues update and get modified.

Deletion of Accounts
This post is written to address the issue of account deletions.
We generally do not do this. This is because nodeBB is bad at handling account deletions. Other forum platforms may neatly allow admins to delete accounts and all of the content attached to the same, but node BB simply does not. I have checked the community forums and, aside from warning admins that deletion will cause link and post issues, the advice is:
- Mark and move all posts to an admin-only forum that members cannot read; or
- Delete the posts as an admin.
Doing either of these is labor-intenstive. Recently, I deleted 900+ posts, and it took me roughly 3 hours. To do this I had to go to the account profile, pull up the posts related to the account, and manually delete each of them.
So if a member wants us to delete their account because they don't want to come back, we will simply ban the account. There are exceptional circumstances which may warrant taking the time to manually delete or move posts, but for now the general rule is that admins will respond to requests for deletion by banning an account , no questions asked.
You can direct any questions about this policy to me or any other admin.

RE: Dead Celebrities 2021 Edition
I don’t recall taking any position regarding Kobe Bryant’s death, but if I did it was not to censor or censure anyone for pointing out that he settled rape allegations against him.
Nor am I here to excoriate anyone for pleading to not speak ill of those who have passed. I believe that many people earnestly believe that speaking ill of the dead is morally and ethically wrong.
What I will do, however, is suggest that earnest discussions regarding people’s legacies be moved elsewhere. It is natural however to react immediately here, for better or worse, and I’m not going to start wielding a weapon unless it starts getting out of hand.
Is that fair?

I have seen so much death and suffering this year.
The groups that this man has oppressed through his advocacy of their destruction has seen more death and suffering than just what happened this year.
I appreciate your sentiment and being kind and fair, but please also understand the rage and hurt from which the celebration comes.

RE: Good TV
We call this "dramatic irony."
God yes. It broke my heart to learn they weren't making more after the end of Season 5.
I felt the opposite. Season 5 ended so perfectly that I didn't want any more. Some series are best left completed as the writers intended, and that was the case here.

Is it one of those shows that appeals way more to adults than the supposedly intended audience?
Not really. My kids like it. My friends' kids like it.
I think it depends on the age and mindset of the kids.
But for adults? Yes, watch it.

RE: Good TV
You should. Everyone should, really. I’m sure GreenFlashlight and I could break this board by chatting about how this show is probably the best thing no one has watched.
But the first season is the slow one. It gets so much better, but the first season got me hooked.
I watched it all one evening and came away wondering how they managed to present childhood abuse and trauma in such a relatable way. -

Not me. I am a defense cat.

It's fine I'll just go through the emotional wringer again thanks.
Here, this will help you. (Spoilers if you haven't seen what is probably the best TV you'll watch.)
