Dude, I would totally read NSFW logs in the least creepy of ways.

I mean, work gets boring and on breaks it's nice to have logs to read, but reading some NSFW logs from other players might turn into some kind of Luke and Laura minor fan factor where the next time I see a certain two players post a NSFW log, I might be like: OMG GOTTA READ, HOLY SHIT, I HOPE THEY GOT OVER THAT WEREWOLF CHEATING EPISODE AND MADE UP!

I feel like I'm sometimes missing an entire 'high five' level of this hobby, because I'll comment on PubChan about how great X or Y log was. I totally wanna cheer on other people's RP, whatever it is. Heck, sometimes reading other people's love helps me find people I wanna RP with and I get a little bit giddy when I finally get a chance to:

Werewolf dude Steve is a fucking BADASS. I've read like...7 logs, and now my character just met Steve and they're accidental allies in the same bar right, how COOL IS THIS?!?

Hey, it's the World of Darkness. Mistakes get made. After a kiss, a Changeling gets turned into a basement live-in keggerator. Them's the breaks, and it'd be pretty sweet, IMO.

Edit: Yeah, I gotta admit, part of me kinda wishes they'd gone the "keep him safe" route to see how that RPed out.

Changeling has some pretty powerful stuff at the mid-lower range, though, you've just got to pay attention to when your eyes sweep over it in the book.

Spring Changelings have a power where, with a kiss, they can control the desires of the people they've just kissed.

On the surface, this power doesn't seem all too great, right? THE CHICK IS ALREADY KISSING ME, I DON'T NEED TO USE A POWER TO MAKE HER DESIRE ME. Sure, if you look at it that way...

Sure, your PC isn't attracted to the cop. 52, balding, beer belly, and with a penis might not be your character's type, but going to jail is less their type and it's just a kiss, right?

I've never seen social attributes and social skills lend to so powerful and so subjective a creature-splat power in a while. Controlling a desire? DAMN. The possibilities are extended, and upon certain critical level results, the change to their desires can last for days.

It can also lead to some fun backlash RP:

My changeling kissed a vampire to keep from being blood-drained, and altered the desire to 'keep <character> safe'. After I'd had the character use the power, I realized that it could have been interpreted as: "YOU MEAN SAFE IN A DUNGEON WHERE NO ONE CAN HARM HIM?". For my character's sake, I was grateful the other player didn't use that "AI" interpretation of "safe", but had she gone that route, I'd have honored it.

I'm exiting the thread, but I want to let it be said that when someone who's made a post seeking constructive input that she's worked hard on, for a game idea, getting nitpicked until she says "fuck it" and walks away, leaving the rest of us to look forward to the upcoming games run by the people who henpecked her to death...is not constructive.

What we end up with is a dwindling pool of new ideas and an environment defended by a handful of reliable long-timers and a growing population of people who have succeeded in chasing others off.

What happened in this thread was absolute horse shit, and while it may sound like Hog Pit, that is a constructive synopsis.

@surreality ugh, either way, I'm more in your court. The number of self inflicted wounds by people trying to find rp only results in stupid OOC shit that ruins everyone's fun. The Hobby's fine, but truly, I'm getting pretty fed up by the negging/predatory/drama queen types that chase the sane people out of the hobby.

Look, people, @surreality started this thread for constructive monster designs/etc for her game, not a pre-review from people going "I prefer the Mixmaster 4000 in purple, but it doesn't come in purple, so my constructive support is MEH". If you don't have anything actually constructive to contribute, then you're not required to contribute.

This reads to me like a CHEWLIE'S GUM scenario where a person involved in the development of a 7th Sea game has arrived to give (super airquote time) "CONSTRUCTIVE" criticism of another Pirate/Freebooter themed game in development. Shocker. All of the constructive criticism seems to uphold the 7th Sea genre.

I think @surreality is onto something awesome, and I'll be there.

When it comes to Lovecraftian/Aliens, the thing to remember is that in Lovecraft's writings, it was gigantic ziggurats rising out of the middle of the sea, and the doomed crew of the ship had no radio, no GPS, no tomahawk cruise missiles. Just ropes. Some pistols. Some ARRbecue sauce. Same thing goes for Cthulhu, Dagon, the Mountains of Madness. The technology level made being in the open sea with strange creatures a terrifying concept (or in Mountains case, in Antarctica). So, I think these ideas are an amazing addition to the setting, one that will have some definite life to it. Imagine:

• Pirate/Buccaneer crews chasing against time for mythical treasure?
• MONSTER ATTACKS
• I could go on and on, but there's no point. I've been chatting with surreality and she's had a keen eye on trying to put something together for the players, with no-nonsense policies, cool skill ideas, etc. I think she's onto something worth keeping an eye out for.

HELL, for the general Black Sails love both surreality and I share, the game will be in good hands. I could care less if there's a 7th Sea game in development. I prefer this idea.

I think it's fucking embarrassing that we have virtual reality F35 Raptor Fighter Jet helmets before we have certain parts of the world where rape can be legally defended by skirt size.

I swear to fucking god, we're gonna have X-Wing starfighters with working hyperdrives before people upgrade from shaved ape

@Misadventure My instincts tell me that this idea would end badly. Subjectivity is wielded like HellHathNoFuryNapalm(tm) by some of these people.

Yeah, let's give people unfettered, subjective player reviews. I get that some people are hurting, some take the hobby more seriously than others, and some can take it or leave it, but I think, in the end, such a thing would just be used by the subjectively jilted to fuck people (they want to scorn) from finding rp.
