RE: First Through the Gate Syndrome
Not really MY idea, not taking credit for that - I've seen it being done in various forms by some GMs, but it depends on the plot. @faraday - I get what you're saying, it might not work all the time, it might make people uncomfortable. I guess it's just the same as any other way, asking first if people are ok with that. It could also be that stress relief or help those that don't know when to go with their pose, avoiding the awkward of two people posing at the same time and the pose after the first not fitting with the first, and so on. Once that initial pose order is over with, the ice broken, it tends to just move onwards. I just presented what seemed like an easy solution without the fine print to it, and there's always fine print

RE: RL things I love
@Sunny Quitting my old job was the best thing I did, even without having a new one. But, admittedly, I did feel fairly confident I'd find a new one - not hundred percent sure, but confident enough that taking that leap was definitely worth it.
I think many people underestimate themselves and get stuck in work they hate, because it is safe, and the unknown is scary. Just human nature, really.
I've done similar things in the past. Someone up here in this thread talked about getting rid of all their stuff, or most of it. I've moved all over the country a few times and each time I literally started over with new furniture. I once lived for three months without even a bed at one place - not because I couldn't afford one, not really, but because it was so liberating having almost NOTHING. I had a kitchen table and two chairs, a mattress on the floor in the bedroom, an armchair, a cheap table I bought in a second hand shop that I put a tiny 14 inch TV on, and a small desk for the computer. That was it, in my two-room apartment. Sure was easy to clean!
I stayed there for three years though so I got more furniture later on, but when I left and moved? I didn't bring anything with me (well apart from clothes and some of the china.)

RE: Diversity Representation in MU*ing
@surreality Yeah, it's similar for sure.

RE: RL things I love
@surreality I am shamelessly using gifs from Vampire Diaries for one of my characters on Arx... BECAUSE of that smirk (and other general antics). I'm not using him as a PB though but my character looks enough like him I could.
Either or, here's a gif-collection! https://imgur.com/a/mnVrmLx

RE: Diversity Representation in MU*ing
@insomniac7809 This. THIS EXACTLY.
-
RE: RL things I love
@surreality I've thought of adding it - it most definitely fits in in certain situations I'll throw it in!
-
RE: Diversity Representation in MU*ing
@saosmash I just don't even mention it. I just go 'Hey, our characters have some history, they've done this and that', where this and that is not about what happened romantically.
I mean, I wouldn't want to start something like that with a player I don't know, so why would I even tell them, they probably feel the same!

RE: RL things I love
@surreality I was very sceptical of that show at the start, but was bored one weekend and started watching. I wasn't fully hooked the first... season or so? But Damon was the absolute fucking BEST in that show and I saw it all to the end mostly because of him. Love his capriciousness, his morally gray side, but the coming through to save everyone at the end-sorta thing. I admit, my Evaristo on Arx is a bit influenced by that (that gif-list is basically Evaristo in gifs), apart from Evaristo being much more sunny/cheerful and doesn't really do sarcasm - nor is he very cynical, at least not openly.

RE: MU Things I Love
Despite all the horrors of magic Evaristo has experienced, he's also seen the wonders of it. So he wants to learn the latter, to fight the former. Sort of.
Also, it's great for party tricks.

RE: A Lack of Imagination
@Lisse24 Though I imagine you got the answer, yes. We do see an actual image, like we draw a picture in our mind and hang it up there. Someone says 'There is a brown oak desk, polished to a shine, with a pile of books and a feather quill ink set on it' - we literally get an image of this coming up.

RE: MU Things I Love
Getting invited to do something absolutely crazy - and yet logical within the context of the plot - something that might get my character killed, but it would be absolutely fine. I love it when crazy ideas get to be made reality by staff.
Additionally, speaking with someone about plot elements that encourages THEM to pitch another crazy idea! Makes me feel all warm inside.

@Ifrit Just heard it on the radio going home from work, I literally went 'Oh shit, not him' in the car.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
Sweden is a bit slow with Coronavirus prep but they have closed down any gathering above 500 people. Bunch of sport events cancelled and concerts and stuff. Government also decided to pay everyone first sick day (in Sweden your first sick Day you dont get any money, after that you get like 80% of your salary). No schools closing yet, or work places. My job is essential for various reasons so I cant work from home.
It is just starting to feel tense and uncertain. Not worried about myself, but my parents are in their 70s.

RE: Covid-19 Gallows Humor
You know it's bad when the Swedish government puts in place a law that forbids gatherings of over 50 people and you CAN GET JAILED for breaking that law.
I mean I've realised the severity before, but this really hammered it in.

@surreality Trick her with some treats and be QUICK with a camera

RE: The Work Thread
@Macha Upvoted not cause I like that this happened to you, but in sympathy. Sorry.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I genuinely like my job. It's the best job I've ever had, and I hope I can stay a long, long time. But right now I have a huge peeve, about one of my bosses.
Our bosses have repeatedly reminded us about staying safe, not to meet too much people that we don't normally spend time with, to not gather in large numbers, and so on and so on. So, when learning that one of our bosses, together with her daughter who also works at the same place (and sits with us in the same room), went to a cabin in the mountains over a holiday, to meet with 11 other friends and relatives from OTHER parts of the country, and that they got Covid-19 from one of these people?
That is the lamest fucking shit. So now, they got covid, they likely spread it to a third who is now also at home, and another of my co-workers visited him, so now she has to stay at home to wait to see if she has it. And who knows who else they spread it to.
So, yeah. I hope they feel thoroughly ashamed of themselves. They went against ALL the advice and rules, rules they are constantly reminding US to follow.
If I get it, I am tempted to talk to the Union about this shit.

RE: Good TV
@arkandel Loki was always my favorite character in the movies but I agree - this brought him up a level. I wasn't joking, I am totally obsessed, been watching Youtube clips every free moment today, haha. I just learned there's now a season break till next episode and I'm crying. Cryyyying.
Edit to add: Just saw there is NO season break and it'll only be 6 episodes. My mate was misinformed I think.
