    • RE: Characters You Enjoyed Playing

William Fletcher@The Reach and Wyatt Fleet@Bump In The Night

I have to thank @Sunny for helping provide the spark that lit William on fire. While discussing character connections, something just clicked. William came alive. William was a handsome and funny former high school bully who made out with the wrong woman one night and ended up a paraplegic who taught high school. He was a psychic at first. Lord forgive me for forgetting his powerset. He ended up dying of cancer and came back a Sin-Eater. He was fun and charismatic with a dash of moodiness and angst. I had a lot of fun in his brain. He ended up getting married to the wonderful Nakesha and lived on until he stopped talking to me. (The muse fled. I couldn't connect, whatever. I just sorta lost him.) He had a nice send-off with loose ends tied nicely so Nakesha could continue while I iced him. I thawed him just before TR ended with the intention of picking him back up but he was just gone. I miss him and I thought no one could match that kinda love until...

Wyatt Fleet. Wyatt was a Deaf single father who very much believed that aliens had abducted him. Three times, if my old notes are correct. His belief in aliens was so deep that he had no problem bringing it up in normal conversation. "So yeah, I was doing good until the aliens abducted me. sips coffee My hearing was fine!" (It wasn't, Wyatt. STFU.). He was dead serious about anything supernatural being alien based and would argue with you about it. He was convinced they would invade and enslave the human race and it was only a matter of time. This made him into a gun nut doomsday prepper. Taking something so ridiculous and playing it very straight was the most fun I could have for free at the time. And that's what he was. Just straight up fun. He was Gone Too Soon, as BITN closed. I will miss that crazy SOB.

    • RE: Reasons why you quit a game...

I usually walk away when activity comes to a halt or staff decisions annoy me but I have left for one other reason.

Insular and/or unfriendly player base. When I log on and feel like I'm interrupting someone else's good time, I just log off and move on.

I'm a ridiculously shy roleplayer so some of this may be on me but I know the difference between "I'm too shy to ask for RP" and "If I ask for RP I'll be met with silence."

    • RE: POLL: Vampire Requiem 2E Settings/Theme

I'm gonna go with London. It's culturally close and easy to research. I wouldn't fear screwing it up and I'd app there in a heartbeat.

El Paso-Juarez sounds fun too. I'd give it a try for sure.

1980s LA is just...I'm an East Coaster born in the 80s. May as well set it on Mars 2218 as far as I can relate to it. (Unless you give me a list of films, shows, or books that I can absorb)

Vampires of the Caribbean conjures up some cool imagery but I don't think it's viable. Night pirates. Meh.

    • RE: Atlantis Client: How to autolog

Damn it. Why is it not working on one computer and working on the other...when the settings are the same? @Sparks come back!
      I figured it out. Ugh.

Updated: I broke up with Fallen World and added my new vampire at Reno. I really love Reno's vampire community.

I played on The Descent before. I played a werewolf and I had a bit of fun.

That said, I'm not here for this post-apoc vampire thing. Not here for it at all. Y'all have fun.

Getting in with an awesome group of RPers and telling them as much. Sharing the love feels great.

We really need to be more supportive of one another. Ain't a whole lot of us left and even less that are very good or try very hard.

    • RE: MU Pacing

I love relationship RP. I love 1x1. I would love to be able to slow burn relationships; lovers, master/apprentice, vampire/thrall, whatever. But we're living in the real world and it gets in the way. Allow me to awkwardly explain.

I've had terrible luck over the years. Disappearing partners, dead and dying games, time zone differences, player groups disbanding, my partners getting banned (That's happened about three times now. I need to be a better judge of character).

If I want to play out a relationship, I feel the need to get to the point and fast before everything falls apart. Instead, I try to play off the speed in which the relationship manifests. So there are misunderstandings, miscommunication and mistakes that come with fools rushing in.

Example: My thrall, early in his relationship with his vampire told someone (a fellow occultist and close friend NPC) about her. Not in great detail, just saying he had met a vampire and OMG he was SOOOOOO in love. (Stupid vinculum). This was expressed clearly as a no-no. Once. He misunderstood what was off limits and got a little too excited.

When he offhandedly mentioned that his buddy was concerned about him being with a vampire, He didn't realize he fucked up big time. Dumbass thought the concern was precious and he just had to share. Needless to say, vampire was pissed. It made for a great scene filled with rage and angst and tension.

Point is, I'm a carpe diem kind of player, because I never know when everything will just go boom and I'll be left holding the ball.

    • RE: Roleplaying writing styles

I aim for concise poses that display what people can observe and interpret. I pose very differently when playing with a blind character versus someone with sight. I describe smells and sounds more than body language and visual action.

Sometimes, a meta comment slips in there, particularly when connecting characters with a past together. Some things need to be established and known. Example: "I didn't take the dog out." He never takes the dog out. This is not news. "Cat got loose though." This, on the other hand, is news. The cat never leaves the bedroom.

I have quirks, like filling poses with speech. I'm trying to break that habit. No one really monologues, Goldfish. No one mutters to themselves that much. So quit that shit, me.

When your RP partner brings out the best in you.

I mean, you know you're nailing it and only because they are so good to play off.

    • RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning

I'm quite set on 1) Playing a commoner (Maybe/probably a Courtesan) and 2) Playing an OC. Because I just love a challenge.

Is there an organization for Courtesans? And can I play a male courtesan?
