    • RE: Atlantis Client: How to autolog

@rnmissionrun said in Atlantis Client: How to autolog:

@goldfish In ~/Library/Application Support/Atlantis/worlds. Note that the Finder hides your Library folder by default (open your home folder in the Finder, hit command-J then tick 'Show Library Folder').

Command+J. Oh my god. I found the hidden folder and just ported the whole Atlantis folder to the other computer. I got it working I am in business. Thank you and @Sparks!

    • RE: Social 'Combat': the hill I will die on (because I took 0 things for physical combat)

@the-sands I was being factious for one. Also, I'm far more upset about not being about to use it against NPCs...as in, no one tells those stories. Thus, it seems like a waste.

And if I were to decide to wield my phat social skills against a PC, I ask first, OOCly. "Hey, I wanna roll to lie. Is that alright?" Or "Mind if I roll persuade here, see if he can turn it around?"

I don't want to make anyone do anything.

I wouldn't dare throw my dice down to MAKE someone do Thing X. That's not my style. But apparently it's someone else's idea of fun.

I've rolled social die maybe twice in a PrP. One was an amazing interaction with an NPC. A total validation of pumping into social skills, my character was able to be vital to the plot in a way that wasn't stabbing at the enemy weakly.

Y'all just totally fucked up my WoD high social character. I'm like, What's the point? He's a good liar, persuasive, and is expressive in various ways, namely music and writing.

But why bother? I should just dump them points into combat and call it a damn day.

      @lithium
      Regarding outfit posing:
      Sometimes, the outfit is important.

No, for reals, guys! Here me out.

I play a character that is usually a jeans and t-shirt guy. But lo and behold, in THIS scene, he's wearing a suit. Maybe it's pressed and fresh. Maybe it's rumpled and the tie is undone. Why is this character wearing a suit all of a sudden?

It's all about creating those little visual cues within our text medium. It fills out a character and sends a message, one way or another.

EDIT: I just remembered a muslim woman I played once. Let me tell ya, a day didn't pass when I wasn't looking at hijab and hijab styles. Fashion was a huge deal to her, so I was always looking up outfits to figure out what she's wearing in this scene, even if I never posed it.

I’m always inspired by my PB. If I can cobble together a decent set of pics, I spark off and get the juices flowing.

Second is for getting in their head. It’s basically an interview that is conducted (in my head.) I find voice, quirks, flaws, hobbies, all manners of fluff to fill in gaps. This can lead to ideas that are tough to connect but thinking in their voice is immensely helpful to me.

To a fair lesser extent is popular media, outside of documentaries (That’s for the cruchy research stuff). For example, I use Norman Reedus as a PB on Reno. I avoid The Walking Dead usually because I find the influence to be generally detrimental. Shane and Daryl have stark differences. Any little thing I’ve stolen is quite purposeful, like an easter egg of sorts.

At the same time, sometimes I need to see them move, emote and react. This is because of a visual issue I seem to have. (I have a hard time envisioning places and characters.

    • RE: Vampire Requiem 2nd Edition Bloodlines Question

Here is Reno's current selection of bloodlines: http://reno.kydance.net/index.php/Sphere:Vampire/Bloodlines

I can't source them all but those are examples.

Speaking as a player, I love, love, love bloodlines. I could play without them but given the choice between the game with and the game without, I'll go with the game with.

@surreality We are so fucking grateful for your help that you can take all the time you need. We'll kick it old school and be wiki-less as long as it takes.

Because forms? That's the wave of the fucking future.

    • RE: The trappings of posing

@sparks I do this a lot when I'm meeting a character that I'm supposed to have a prior relationship with. These are "the things you already know" as a character.

    • RE: The trappings of posing

General spelling and basic grammar:This always ends up being a bigger deal than I think. I just can't take you seriously if you are clearly being too lazy to spell and punctuate. This is different from someone who is ESL or the like.

Pose length and detail: Just get the words out that make the point. Length and detail are up to you.

Tempo - posing regularly at whatever time interval you prefer: I'm on the slower side so you will never hear me complain about someone else's tempo.

Personal peeves (wiki codes, %t tabs, whatever they might be): The second I make a carriage return I suddenly feel like the pretentious asshole. Others, it's perfectly fine.

Pose ordering such as not using (or using) three-pose rule over round-robin, etc: Oh my god, do I hate being skipped. If we are round robin, I start working on my next pose as soon as my last one is out the gate. I craft to cover all the other people in the scene and then a motherfucker skips me, ruining my pose in the process. One skip is an accident. Yeah. Sure. I do it too. But I've been skipped a lot recently and I know it's because I tend to take my time. It just sets my hair on fire. Pose quality suffers because I'm rushing to stay relevant. Now I'm the shitty RPer. I usually avoid large scenes for this very reason and bow out of growing ones.

Mage? On Darkwater? In addition to Changeling?

      I'm out.

Like I said recently to a group of friends, A multi sphere game is a trailer park and Mage is an F5 tornado. They don't mix. I say this as a person who loves 2e Mage. Loves it. Alone. By itself.

If I see a game that interests me but isn't WOD, I'm going to fucking try it. I'm been WoD since I started about eight years ago and damn it, it's time for a change.

I'm just scared of trying to learn a new system.
