    • RE: How old are MU* players?

That didn't turn out how I hoped.

Assume each answer is a category. So 12 is 12-17, 18 is 18-24, etc.

    • RE: Because Magic

My favorite cost is the meme magic way where your power level is equivalent to the number of years you've maintained your virginity with 30 being the entry level. Those who allow a succubus to drain their mana are forever reduced to normie scum.

    • RE: PC antagonism done right

all you need is a pragmatic reason for conflict like maybe there's only one gun and no one trusts anyone else with it

often on mu games you tend to see antagonists for the sake of antagonism and it usually just comes off as being hamfisted

    • RE: What do you WANT to play most?

      Also in my ideal theme:

There's no preexisting factions. Or if there have to be for some reason, it's explicit that a few bad decisions (or bad luck) could and will lead to it's downfall. The heads of these factions are PC and not NPC. They don't hold any kind of monopoly nor are they too big to fall.

It's survival based. Something about the world makes staying alive a constant challenge and you're told to expect to die in an arbitrarily unfulfilling way. Maybe a lack of resources, maybe a hostile external threat or maybe even something as dumb as being on a reality tv show where the producers have a god complex.

@Autumn said in What do you WANT to play most?:

Original themes often aren't well-presented, and that can make it difficult to get and retain players. Say what you like about George R. R. Martin, but he's a much more entertaining writer than the average person who decides they want to start a game and make up their own setting for it.

Sometimes less is more. You don't have to be a fantastic writer to make a theme that's simplistically entertaining like one day you woke up then SUDDENLY ZOMBIES.

    • RE: What do you WANT to play most?

Anything that isn't an original theme is counter-productive for a MU. You can't alter the world too much otherwise it stops being whatever setting it's based upon. Like if someone made a game of thrones mud, it's pretty safe to say that no amount of IC stuff is going to let your family take over the world and turn it into a orwellian dystopia. Nor is a game based on 1984 going to let you overthrow big brother and usher in a new age of democracy.

      Glass ceilings and railroading, ho.

    • RE: conspiracy theories/Illuminati game

This tends to be in most L&L games but it's usually a minority of secret society PCs rather than it being the central theme of the game. It's hard to give examples without ruining meta sekrets but if this is what you're after you could try sending a pm to a headmin of a game and ask if there's any groups like this they'd consider letting you apply into.

      Tldr

      Ok.

I honestly hope the democrats remain openly contemptuous of the concerns of their own target audience and double down on their narrative. They've forgotten the point of elections is not to argue the truth or fact, it's to win the crowd over to your side and I am fine with that. If losing states that were considered to be safely left leaning to a man who lives in a golden tower isn't enough of a wake up call I can't think of what would be.

Trump won because he channeled populist resentment toward political correctness. This was the beginning of a massive eruption of resentment against generations of western social engineering that's just now reaching the surface of mainstream society. Tomorrow's historians will carefully research accounts of how droves of young men with no reason to plug into society were progressively disenfranchised by a liberal SJW agenda to a point where they'd quietly support anyone who stood in opposition of it.
