If I was playing a game that advertised itself as survival only the struggle to stay alive was superficial then I'd be disappointed. These sorts of settings where it's made clear from the start it's a story of how you died only appeal to a specific and hip audience anyway: textual masochists that love to suffer. It's hard for a story to feel meaningful when you know failures aren't going to make a ton of difference in the long term, but sometimes that doesn't matter when you just want a typical feel good adventure.

I do know some eyes were turned toward her direction regarding blocking other people out of rp, and likewise some regard as getting an overt amount of attention and shinies plotwise. I could not speak as to the veracity of it all, but the former would be more likely a reason for ban than the latter.

Went out of my way to involve people who were struggling to get involved in story and plot, but my play times sometimes made it tricky to catch up with everyone I wanted to.

I do not think I got an overt amount of attention from staff, I hadn't been involved in any GM'd scenes. Only 1 story request. I was given a really good secret though, and that was crucial in helping me integrate and get involved, particularly towards the end of my play time.

Player of Victus in particular was very inclusive and welcoming when my PC joined Thrax on an OOC level.

Did staff ever give you a reason for why you were no longer welcome on their game?

That people have managed it in a game that hasn't been open to play for a year either means there's either been some hilariously bad players or a staffing team that's whimsically dropping the hammer.

The time I played as a charlatan soothsayer whose bizarre and fabricated fortunes always came true. Turned out she was being stalked by a mage who was using his magic to force the prophecies to happen in the way my character would describe for shits and giggles.

This was the norm for the roman era. What's being described in this thread is ultra progressive modern day philosophy with tunics, swords and sandals. It begs the question of why you're trying to base a game on a chosen historical period to begin with instead of just doing what Arx did and making original lore and with aesthetics and technology that's reminiscent of it.

Edit: Firan was only nominally roman. I always thought it was dumb that's how it advertised itself.

Imo it's on most MUs but not publicly advertised by those involved. Edgy parental RP. One of my favourite MU moments was buying my character's son a puppy then forcing him to kill it on his next birthday with a card that read "I dare you to love again." Unironically believed he had the kid's best interests at heart by hardening him into a man instead of letting him grow up to be a pansy. My character was so proud to be on the receiving end of a patricide.
