    • RE: RL things I love

Maybe she loves yelling at people with different political views on the internet which would make her post appropriate for this thread.

I know the hypocrisy of a self-proclaimed "tolerant" liberal flipping their shit because people dare have beliefs they don't share always makes me snerk a little.

I am idly working on a Courtesan if anyone wants to throw ideas and such at me.

TS so unholy it scorches the eyes of the gods and causes demons weep in joy, knowing the sin we have committed has forever damned every soul in existence.

We can pretend that you're trying to earn my trust learn my secrets so we can maintain that we're playing for the plot.

I want a show where Gordon Ramsey has to sing for Simon Cowell and then Simon has to cook for Gordon and they both just criticize each-other. Or a show where a contestant has to sing while preparing a meal for the judges and wins by surviving the psychological damage.

You'll never see it done either. Any time you've got a church that's even slightly morally dubious it will inevitably devolve into a warhammer-esque sausage fest with godly men blowing up planets because one of it's inhabitants missed sunday mass.

How do you, as a player, deal with a member of staff that you have a very negative interaction with.

      A) Make a thread on MU soapbox denouncing them as hitler incarnate. The more people who know about the tragedy, the better!

      B) Meta grudge them on the next game you find them on. You'll find some thinly veiled justification to pull off that PK and when you do you'll feel amazing.

That's all you can do. The staff/player relationship has always been one where where the staff member wears the pants.

My advice would just don't play as a concept you feel passionate about when you know it isn't going to be well received by the theme. When you do you're setting yourself up to lose. I've lost count of the numbers of time I've been denounced as being the worst person ever (I probably am but for other reasons) for antagonizing a character with unthemetic beliefs their player also happened to coincidentally share.

Trust me. You'll have much more fun being discriminated against for reasons you don't relate to on a personal level.

From what I've experienced, the best way to be tolerant is by reminding people that your opinions are the greatest, the most true, and the moral, rational, and logical while simultaneously being condescending of everyone else's. Pretend to respect free speech but find ways to denounce dissenting opinions as being less than such: calling it hate speech, trolling or inciting trouble are all good ways to accomplish this!

Should that fail, label them as a problem player and make up reasons to have them banned. You WILL prevail.

I'll admit OP was tl;dr but the Simpsons did it first. If acting on an idea that isn't original is theft then we've all stolen from Matt Groening.

    • RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning

I don't think there's ever been any roster game (esp one where characters have plot sensitive secrets) that didn't require admin approval. You could end up accidentally taking a character that's part of the milkman conspiracy and is secretly plotting your other character's demise.

I played Arx for a month. Felt there was way too much OOC collusion from the player-base and not alot of plot to pursue. I decided I'd wait until the game went live since it'd be easier to inject my character into stuff. Since found out my PC's password was scrambled for inactivity during what I was told was a pregame testing period so I couldn't come back even if I wanted to, but that might have been my fault for not giving forewarning before vanishing. Welp.

@Apos and @Kanye-Qwest were always super cool when dealing with me even if I argue with the latter all the time.

Yes, arguing with players can be a huge red flag. But let's also not forget how many games croak run by super sweet and nice people.

Your staff didn't come off sweet or nice, or even professional and level-headed.

In fact, there is no requirement your staff even had to react on this thread.

It is not a surprise that any number of us don't see any logic to having an e-mail requirement to log-in. For the most part, I still don't. Your game was an exception because I just don't know Evennia.

Nothing that was said required KQ to say anything at all. And no response would not make you appear soft.

You are under no obligation to respond to anything by anyone here.

So, no. I don't buy your defense.

(P.S.: You also don't need to respond to this post.)

(P.P.S.: Your game is pretty badass, but I'm not into the system or the setting.)
