RE: Reactions to 08192015 Update
@HelloRaptor similarly doesn't like it, but also accepts that I didn't upgrade just to make his life worse.
I haven't liked this software since the board opened, there were just times when I disliked it marginally less than I had before. At least it used to still look like a forum, though. I really, really find this super minimalist comments-style format to be incredibly unpleasant to look at for a forum.
Edit: But no, I don't think @Glitch is the devil in these particular details, and as somebody who likes to tinker with new stuff and routinely encourages people to upgrade even when it's not strictly necessary, I do understand.

What I like about Win10--so far, she flies. I'm running a 2.5 year old laptop and so far it's faster than Windows 7 was. Pretty much ever.
Yeah, I've installed it on some pretty old machines so far, and it's a breeze on even that hardware.

RE: Dragon Age: Inquisition
I found him just before the final bit, when I was finishing all the collectibles/locations. Was definately a bit rough, but at this point all of my party is gear-specc'd out to be pretty ridiculous. Everybody's got +5 guard generation on their armor, and either 25% heal over 10s andor Chance for Hidden Blades (5 strikes) on their weapons/shield. I think at this point everybody's using Tier 4 stuff where it's available, and is max level.
I wish there was a way to reset all the dragons and have them all scale up to 30. Though admittedly knowing my mage playthrough alt could probably just still solo them all does make it marginally less pressing.

@Thenomain
There's apparently a place in the Hakkon DLC where clicking on some interactables will spawn three or four level 30 Despair Demons all at once, mostly right on top of you. I've heard it's way, way, waaaay harder than any of the boss or dragon fights, which is pretty funny. -
Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt
So, after having tried to play the first two games and giving up on them almost immediately due to the terrible control schemes (for keyboard and mouse anyway), I'm going to take a stab at The Witcher 3.
I've read that one doesn't have to have played the first two to get into the world or the third game, but since there are some folks here who seem to love it, I wondered if anybody could give me a primer on events from the first two games that it might be good to know going into the third one? I could read the wikipedia entry or the like, but I'm wary of them having spoilers for stuff in 3.

Reason #8135 to use Classic Shell.I'd heard about the disappearing start menu during the Tech preview, but thought it got fixed after one of the later builds.
If you're comfortable with regedit, try this:
- Launch the Registry Editor (hit the Windows key and R, type regedit, and then press Enter) and then navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ ImmersiveShell\Launcher
- Click Edit > New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, and name it UseExperience.
- Double-click the newly created item and set the value to 0.
- Click OK, close the Registry Editor and then restart your computer — or just restart Explorer. (If you can still right-click on your start button, you can use Task Manager to restart Explorer.)
If that doesn't work, first go back in and delete the registry key above, then do this:
- Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0
- Right click on powershell.exe and run as administrator.
- This is not the Command Prompt, please note.
- Paste the following: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
- Wait for PowerShell to execute and complete the command. Ignore the few errors (in red color) that may pop up.
- When it's finished, try hitting start, or restart your computer and try hitting start.
Obviously mucking around in regedit and with powershell shit isn't for the faint of heart, so unless you're super attached to the windows 10 start menu as it is, my initial suggestion stands:
- Download Classic Shell and use the Win7 (or whatever) start menu replacement.
As a note for anybody using Classic Shell who wants the old start orb back, I've got a bunch of image files that can be used for the custom icon for it.

- Why wouldn't you count spaces?
No idea, but when you click on the word count at the bottom of Microsoft Word it pops up a box with other stats, including 'Characters (no spaces)' and 'Characters (with spaces)', so I figured it was a thing to somebody, somewhere.
-
RE: Topics and the Groups they can belong to
- That gallery is fantastic.
- 'Go eat a bag of dicks, @Glitch.' is only 25 characters (31 if you count spaces) so I'll be okay.
-
RE: Topics and the Groups they can belong to
Do you want to try a PbP?
I feel like I could communicate entirely in Magic cards at this point, if I weren't so lazy.
Please assume I've posted a card for an Artifact titled 'A Bag Of Dicks' and that it has the ability 'When tapped, target moderator eats this card, and A Bag of Dicks is removed from play.' and 'Return A Bag of Dicks from the graveyard to the field whenever a moderator posts.'

I went back to look at my post and it's not spoilered for me now either, but it was previously. I mean, I see the >! but there's no spoiler interference. In fact, there's no spoiler button above the composition box now, when that's what I used when I made that post.
What the fuck?

RE: Reactions to 08192015 Update
@Glitch
It does, thanks. The response screen thing. Hopefully they'll fix it, though, since having to do it this way means not being able to scroll through for replies to different posts unless I want to keep clicking that button repeatedly. -
RE: Reactions to 08192015 Update
New post, because goddamnit. This is not progress, this is UI suicide.
- Composition/comment elements being at the top of the post instead of the bottom is objectively terrible. There's no reason at all that after reading a long ass post one should have to scroll back up to the top to hit reply or quote.
- Edit being behind a menu box otherwise used for social media shit makes no goddamn sense. Also, see above re: scrolling up. So if you read over your post you're adding two different clicks just to get to edit when you notice something wrong.
- It's not just me, right? Typing in the composition box vanishes off the bottom of the screen? Even when I resize my browser so it's nowhere near my toolbar shit still disappears off the bottom for the last line or so. Having to hit enter a bunch of times just to have buffer so I can see what I'm typing is insane.
This isn't directed at @Glitch, I understand he has no control over this shit unless he just doesn't update the board (which, no), but fuuuuuuuuuuucking goddamnit.

@HelloRaptor Probably because not everyone sent her off to do her thing, so she isn't in their main game now and they figured it would be too confusing to those who didn't have her.
Much as I think anyone who didn't get Dagna is a monster who deserves to be confused, I could get that. Except if you go talk to her after the DLC she does sort of a 'whatever that was all about' thing and shrugs it off. And yes, you're not supposed to tell anybody but come on. There could have been some shit with her, even just in dialogue, that you'd only get if you had her. Not having any would be like a big Tevinter DLC that Dorian has no input on.
Also was that supposed to be tagged as a spoiler or a quote, because on this skin it came up as a quote, which sucks if it was a spoiler tag.
Yeah, def spoiler tag.

RE: Reactions to 08192015 Update
Such as bad gateways showing up for no reason
Legit question, this is not sarcasm: Are they showing up for reasons then, now? Because I was pretty continuously getting bad gateway errors and couldn't reach the site after my post around midnight, no matter how much I cleared cache, restarted my browser, or at one point even restarted my computer (unrelated to this, I just had to install a driver).
EDIT: nm, I see this was already addressed.
lag time (I know that WTFE says it's slower, but it's a lot faster for me)
I haven't noticed any speed differences, as long as the page will load.
and people suddenly being told "denied!" when trying to log in.
Now if that shit never happens again, that's at least one plus to the 'fix'.
I swear to god have you people been living under a fucking rock? Facebook does this like twice a fucking year. Google does the same. Shit changes.
...hahahahahha. Have you been living under a fucking rock? Any time there's a major interface change in a web tool, the people who don't like it make a huge fuss, whether it's facebook, google, or even yahoo (especially yahoo since it's mostly used by fucking troglodytes who don't know any better and fear change even more).
Or better yet do you yell at people who aren't using rotary phones anymore?
If somebody showed up with a pile of shit in their hand and smugly told me that it was the newest in ShitPhone technology and why can't I catch up with the times, I'd probably walk away very quickly. I know, I'm a Luddite.
We get it. You don't like the way it looks now. That's sad for you, it fixes problems that needed to be fixed. It isn't "better" because it's "newer", it's better because it's fixed legit problems with the board.
Cool? That's... great? There's like one guy complaining about 'new technology', but the other complaints seem more like "I took my car in to fix some bugs with its power steering and when it came out they'd also given me giant spinner rims with 'I LOVE ASS' in LEDs, and a paint job of Mohammud fucking a camel along both sides."
Thank you for keeping the board up to date, @Glitch. The login problem was a huge fucking pain in the ass. I'm not actually holding you responsible for the interface changes made by some faceless assholes elsewhere on the internet. You're doing your job, inasmuch as this is a 'job' of any kind.
But the new interface and appearance are shit, and just like with Facebook and everywhere else on the internet that caters to more than five people, it's going to get bitched about. For most of us it's not personal, you just happen to be standing in the general direction of where our ire is actually pointed.

RE: Dragon Age: Inquisition
Just finished The Descent DLC, and it was pretty awesome (and something I hope plays into another set of DLC or a new Dragon Age game), but I have a super spoilery beef:
! How the fuck do you have DLC about lyrium-infused magical-dwarves and NOT include Dagna?

RE: Reactions to 08192015 Update
Also this is annoying as fuck: The bottom of the composition box is getting cut off by my task bar.
I thought maybe it was my Classic Shell for win10, but it's doing it on the Win7 machine in the other room, too. In the picture there I've actually got the numbers typed out to 8 but everything on the last line disappears below the task bar now. No amount of scrolling down (on either scroll bar) will let me see anything below that.
This behavior isn't showing up on any other websites, forums or otherwise. >_<

@Miss-Demeanor I wonder if they are just going for something like this:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491
Would seem to be the next logical step.
I don't know if they actively BLOCK apps not signed to or from Microsoft, but they've already got an app thing on Windows 10. Its in the Start Menu. When you download or open something from the net, it now asks you what app you want to use to open it. So I'm sure if they don't already have it, they will soon enough. Can't stop 'progress'.
That's not new, it's just the same old thing where Windows asks you what program you want to use to open things. It's just that when Win10 installs by default it asks you what you want to use the first time you open just about anything, it seems, even shit that should already be associated with a program.
