    • RE: Harassment in VR, there's something we can likely learn from this.

So I got food poisoning last night, so this might be even more rambly than usual.

I started RPing...does stealing my dad's D&D book to teach myself to read count? I'm on only child so... I watched dad play games on the Commodore and in Jr. High and High school during lunch and weekends and such. And those guys spoiled me because while they thought it was cool I played, but not because I was a girl. But they were my alternate big brothers so sex was never a thing for me. So honestly OMG a girl was a bit of a shock for me.

I very much believe in equal pay for equal work. And I think that's why bikini streamers bother me so much; as much as I go on and on about being a bad player, I'm not really that bad otherwise I wouldn't have the subs that I do, my voice is nowhere near that sexy. But most of these women really are bad. They get the subs, sure because people want to oogle them and I mean people pay monthly subscriptions to see their content, not just people subscribed to the channel. You could argue that they put in just as much work as normal streamers. And a 5'2" woman who can barely lift a bag of potatoes is probably going to do more work than a 6'2" walking block of muscle fireman - and in this case I think she should be paid just as much as the man. But gaming is the work, and they just don't do it.

It just makes it harder for women who just want to be gamers. Or... women online really. I'm not knocking sexuality, I'm knocking the women who use that sexuality because all it does is make it okay for other people to treat other women like that. Like the example above about TS and owing... I have had multiple people ask me if Theno and I were dating, because we've recorded some videos together. More recently I've been asked if I'm dating one of my Twitter followers because he likes every tweet I do. Mostly "Hey, check out this video!" tweets, but the occasional random thing too.. He's also a gamer and we haven't recorded anything yet - and now I'm a little afraid too because that might be like a proposal or something at this point.

I'm a gamer. I can game without having a boyfriend who got me into gaming. When I played tabletop I was usually the only girl there, but I was never there because I was the GM's girlfriend. I saved up the 5k gold I needed for a flying mount without having to fuck anyone to do it. I should be able to play a female character and not have complete strangers want to TS me because I'm a female behind the screen or whatever. And things have gotten better. The best way to fix it as a group though is basically what has been done; The non-dicks need to stand up and say that it isn't okay. That it won't be tolerated. Teach your sons not to be dicks! I mean really, we're all of an age now. Some of us have kids. If you don't want it to be an issue, on the street or in VR, teach them that it's wrong. That it's wrong to treat women that way, and that it's wrong to let others think it's okay to treat women that way.

TL;DR Thanks guys who aren't dicks for not being dicks. Keep it up!

Detroit Become Human is gorgeous all around; the look, the story, the sound design... it's a David Cage game though, so I'm waiting for some Mayan Internet prophecy so show up and get weird. Holding out for an android T-Rex, or maybe drowning in peanuts...

I was going to put this in interesting links, but it's like 40 mins long, so I figured why not a place for videos we find interesting?

Anyway, remember that Final Fantasy House way back when? There was more I never even knew about.

I am streaming Detroit Become Human, and it's becoming a problem; I don't want to stop. I want to selfishly go on without my stream. I also want to go back right now and explore other options. I've done things and I feel bad. But they're androids, not people! I shouldn't feel bad!

@Groth I agree, if someone wants to watch nipples they should be able to watch nipples, maybe put it behind a wall so that kids can't watch nipples. But at least they are banning all nipples and not just female nipples. coughfacebookInstagramcough

@auspice I actually was lucky and got it a month early to stream and show off. You wouldn't think it would be the sort of thing people would be interested in watching, but people really like it.

Finally got my cult to 3 people (including me), but that's a step up from forming a cult and loosing the second person through death or misadventure, and then being a cult of one. >.>

Even though Blizzard already shut them down once, just because Blizzard didn't announce Legacy servers at Blizzcon,we're going to put our Legacy servers we reverse engineered and don't actually own any of the content back up, because Blizzard doesn't actually follow it's own core values any more.

The level of entitlement and hate for Blizzard for NOT having Vanilla servers is amazing. How dare Blizzard? Even though they had already said there wouldn't be any news about Legacy servers at Blizzcon. How dare they not do what non-paying customers demand of them?!

    • RE: Shameless Self-Promotion part IV

Bumping this again because I have been off work for a bit now, no voice, which makes it really difficult to do phone customer service, and then my work laptop also decided to have the display up and die as well, so I needed to borrow money from my dad to pay for it until my next paycheck. Doctor has written be being off work until September 1st. And I hate begging for money directly.

So bumping this again, in case anyone has the urge to buy videogames, I am an affiliate with Greenman Gaming, Fanatical (Formerly Bundlestars), and Humble. I get different amounts of money from various places depending on what's going on. (Generally a flat rate on the purchases, but bonuses from Humble for each monthly subscription. And one of the things I like about Humble is sometimes I get a slider, so you can chose how much I get, how much charity gets, the devs, or the site to keep it running.) But I get notified of sales before they come out, sometimes with extra codes that you guys can use to save more money.

#nonspon but seriously, if you haven't yet, check out. isthereanydeal.com It's a really great site for when you finally decide to buy a PC game, or if you see a game you do want, you might find it a little cheaper somewhere else. And if you see it somewhere I am an affiliate, maybe send me a DM so I can make a link for you?

Another way you can help out an internet stranger is if you have Amazon Prime: You get a free Twitch subscription every month, doesn't cost you anything, and I get money out of it. I know some people didn't even know about this when I mentioned it before, and I've actually made it a little easier for people to connect their subscriptions if they don't know how to: Go to my Twitch page and type !prime that will bring up a link that will take you directly to Amazon prime for your country.

I also mentioned way, WAY back that I have a discord, and have a Soapbox role, as well as chat channels if people want to get together and game. I've made it now so that Soapbox will now see my adspam channel where I put in all the links already with my affiliate links attached, and that way you guys can see the sales as they go up before even having to DM me. !prime also works in discord as well.

Because I've lost my voice, but I'm worried about losing affiliate status, so I asked my viewers and they said they were okay with me not talking as much, so if you do tune in, expect some weird ASRM stuff happening, maybe.

I really don't want to lose affiliate and have to get it back because of the loss of my voice, especially because I am super excited because I recently got my first affiliate payout from Twitch, and have gotten payouts from Humble and Greenman Gaming as well, and it really makes me feel like a more legitimate streamer now. So thank you to everyone who has already used their free Prime sub, or poked me about getting an affiliate link. I really do appreciate it.

    • Cheap or Free Games!

These are all updated pretty frequently, so if you are looking for cheap games, make sure to check out and bookmark these links:

Origin gives away free games every few months.
UPlay is giving away a game a month right now to celebrate 30 years of Ubisoft and sometimes gives games away as well.

      Stores:
      Steam often has sales.
Good Old Games has a store and often has sales. (You can also get free games for signing up). - They are also going to start their own Greenlight type project.
HumbleBundle has bundles and the store which has sales ever so often.
GreenManGaming often has games on sale, and usually cheaper than Steam (if you are Canadian, anyway).
DLGamer has keys and sales too!

      Bundles:
IndieGala does several bundles a week, and discount the bundles even more usually for the first 48 hours.
Fanatical does several bundles a week too.
      DailyIndieGame is pretty cool too!

IsThereAnyDeal.com is pretty good for checking up on things if you randomly want to buy a game cheaply.
GameDeals subreddit is a pretty good place to check out too.
PCGiveaways is also a good subreddit with free stuff!

IndieDB has daily giveaways. If you sign up for the newsletter it will mail you every time there is a new giveaway, and it'll also tell you if you won or not.
Alpha Beta Gamer has lots and lots of betas if, like me you are leery of pre-orders now.

Arise or something, Edited. Groupees is trash.

I've been told things carry on as you go so that's one reason to start from 2 and work your way through.

On the other hand, I've been told That 2 is the weakest of the series in terms of gameplay.

    • RE: General Video Game Thread

@auspice said in General Video Game Thread:

She celebrated the death of TotalBiscuit, who died from cancer. That was just at the end of May.

While there were some game devs who did celebrate TB's death, I don't think she was one of them. Maybe tacky making the comment she did on the day of his death? Sure. But there were a lot of people who disliked TB and had good reason to who voice very similar sentiments who actually worked with him. And everyone reacts to and handles death differently. Yeah, he died of cancer, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone (of which TB did on Twitter on multiple occasions) , or want any family to have to go through losing someone, but he wasn't exactly always praise-worthy himself before he died.

But getting cancer or dying doesn't absolve anyone of having been an asshole before hand, and if her comments on the day of TB's death were an issue they should have been addressed back in May, and that still doesn't explain why she wasn't the only one fired.

Also we only have her side of things because ArenaNet hasn't commented, but they knew full well what she was like on Twitter before she was hired, and was never talked to about her behavior on Twitter, or talked to about it before this happened. Her behavior on Twitter previously wasn't an issue

And even if she did celebrate TB's death previously (which there were people who did in the gaming community I'm not arguing that it didn't happen, or was right) there are still two families who now have to deal with the loss of a job, one person who was there for 13 years... for standing up for a co-worker. Even if people can say she made a distasteful tweet in the past it not a reason for people to continually harass her and gloat after the fact that she was fired.

There is just so much toxicity on both sides of this that no one comes off looking good in this at all.

ETA: Sorry, I just see celebrate over and over again whenever it comes up, and she's not the guy from EA who DID celebrate his death. People are allowed to dislike people you like. Disliking someone doesn't mean a person is happy they are gone, either.
