Clearing his history on the site seems like a good way to discourage him from coming back and picking up where he left off.

I concur that if the activity occurred off-game, then there would be no need to police it unless the incest happened to make it into play somehow.

Yeah, that was more what I meant.

There are also games where the staff (to whatever "official" degree) isn't going to be looking into what two (or, y'know, more) players in a private grid room are getting up to. There are other games where staff can see anything happening anywhere on the grid. Case-by-case basis.

I feel like it's one of those context things.

If you and your RP partner are doing the "IC only" thing, take it as it comes. If you and your partner are chatting about game stuff OOCly and you don't happen to being this up... little bit sketch, y'know?

@Ganymede I'm not saying the rules are arbitrary. A game deciding that they don't want to deal with incest on-grid is a reasonable and entirely legitimate rule to lay out.

But while I'm not entirely saying staff should only rule on things that happen on their server, moderating "non-canon" RP on a discord server seems, like I said, both impossible and pointless.

I don't care that you're hung over.

I don't care that you have homework.

I don't care about your relationship drama.

I don't care about Nicki Minaj.

Put your phones away and do your jobs.

My $0.02:

If a RP rule is broken in a way that nobody ever finds out about, enforcement is both impossible and pointless.

If two players work out, IDK, an incest kink on Discord in violation of game policy, that falls into 'who knows who cares.'

If some third party brings this to Staff attention... my personal inclination and preference would be for staff and tattletale to mind their damn biznez.

But, if the players take the brotherfucking onto the grid (whether actually TSing or just making RP hay about the love I don't really need to hear about) then the banhammer is entirely justified.

@Auspice Right? It's a really simple core experience, but there's so many things to work out and learn that it keeps on being more to explore. There are almost no games I'd accept this little of a tutorial in...

Honestly, it seems to be just about everything I hate in video game design (aside from microtransactions) but I still love it to a possibly unhealthy extent.

(Through my day, in the idleness of the work week, I find my thoughts drifting to evocative writing, subtle world-building, and the constant running of timers. While I cruise MSB for shitposts, its tantalizing icon beckons me, almost inexorably. Just a hint, a touch, to see if my next Dream action might yield the next step of my progression...)

I picked up Cultist Simulator on Hallowe'en, and I'm... mild to moderately obsessed.

The format is super simple, one of those skinner box 'just one more thing before bed' designs (almost like one of those mobile games), which is a feature that really works in a game where the protagonist is consumed by a destructive obsession.
