@Tyche I find it "interesting" that she posts her resume, effectively offering her services as a consultant to help video game companies avoid "problematic" content, but then also leads the charge on trying to publicly shame companies about "problematic" content.

"You need to buy my exterminator services."
      "I don't have a pest problem."
...salesman presses a button on a remote control.
      "You do now."

Sarkeesian is a bit of a carpetbagger. Best of luck to her for publicly attacking the companies she hopes that will hire her.

I applaud your use of carpetbagger. It was very appropriate.

Well, are you surprised? The game is getting good hype so of course someone will have to come out of the woodwork and claim it is racist and offensive. Really, I am not surprised by this. Mike's responses though to this, particularly to people on Twitter, have been pretty perfect.

Really? How's it compare to FF6?

ducks and runs for her life

I would say it is like comparing apples and pomegranates. The tempo, beats, and musical cues that fit the game are wholly different than those used in an RPG and so one should experience them on their own separate of the comparison to fully enjoy them.

...holy shit if you love Metroidvania games, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is just an amazing game and I can not recommend it enough. And it is well worth the price point.

The game is gorgeous, the controls feel great, the music is well done.

The primary theme from The Last of Us really sticks with me and I can pick up humming it at times when I'm writing stuff for my tabletop game.

Even so, it has Triple Triad and that was fun. I mean it completely derailed me finishing the game so that has to count for something.

FF8 is maybe my least favorite of the series but I could play Triple Triad for days and days on end.

That's pretty much what happened to me. I got FF8 when it released and then discovered Triple Triad was awesome. The rest of the game, pssh what's that? I have Triple Triad to play.

Well Keanu did have a band in the 90s that did a lot of touring. He could be the vocals on some of the music.

So the Twitter for Cyberpunk 2077 last night said the company was going to backpedal on their Collector's Edition release and it will become available in the U.S. for PC owners, they're still checking for Canada.

After having the release date pushed to next year, last month, new rumors are going around that Disney may cancel the New Mutants theatrical release entirely and stream it as an exclusive on Disney+.

@Jaded I'm assuming like Conan Exiles the US/EU main different will involve nudity differences.

Which is bullshit if it is.

They have not specifically stated why but speculation is it has something to do with their deal with Warner Bros. Interactive, who is doing the NA publishing for the game in the U.S.

They do. But I just found out that the Collector's Edition of Cyberpunk 2077 won't be available in the U.S.

I have had the money waiting to do just that ever since the gameplay footage was released. This will be the first game I pre-order since Witcher 3.

Given how amazing Paradox has been as a dev and publisher, I think that the World of Darkness IPs are going to get some amazing love that they deserve. Here's crossing my fingers for a Wraith-souls style game, because I think that would be amazing.

      Edit: Amazing.

      Oh fuck yeah!

The two games I had hoped might make an appearance at E3 aren't. Mount and Blade: Bannerlord, the devs are skipping again this year. And PGI does not think that E3 is worth the resources doing a booth to get some marketing done for Mechwarrior 5, with other high profile games taking the spotlight.

@Testament One thing I heard (but haven't verified) over the radio this morning was the Russians aren't pleased with how Chernobyl was made. The argument was "imagine if Russia had made a mini series about 9/11 and everyone in it had non-American accents".

I have not seen the show yet, is that fair criticism?

It has pretty much become accepted among gamers that console games will always tread the full price mark and lack the fluidity of pricing that PC games have due to things like that.

Since this originally came out for the Switch, it would be no different. Now that it is going to be released on PC, it might be best to get the game then because you can wait for the best sale price on it to get it at a cost more equitable to what you consider the price range the game should fall into.

Given a look at it myself I'm thinking the $15-25 range is probably fair, but I would not pay any higher than $25.

      1. The X-Men Movieverse has a lot of humans with super powers and they are all mutants, without a single exception.
      2. The MCU Movieverse...doesn't.

As far as I understand it, this is because when Fox bought the rights to the X-Men in 98, along with that came the term "mutant" for movie usage. Which is why the MCU has followed other comic canon and avoided using that term or implying that their super powered heroes are mutants in some fashion.

With Disney acquiring Fox this means they no longer have to do that, which is why we are having a movie coming out called "The New Mutants."

      @Auspice
Yeah. I think the Dark Phoenix saga didn't work in the first one, I can not even understand why they thought doing it again would work.

I felt the same way after seeing it. To me it felt like a B-grade kitsch slasher movie, like Dr. Giggles as an example, that was a throwback to other 80s slasher movies. I think it had a lot of potentials but it missed its mark in a lot of places.

Though I will say that they went all in on the gore for their R rating. So they made that rating worth it.

I agree. And since Disney just concluded their deal with Fox, I suspect we're going to be seeing a whole new X-Men reboot anyways, to bring them into the MCU.
