RE: Steam Buddies?
It'd be so much better if we all just could wave lots of arms around and change our skin to various color/polarization patterns. --> Nerd Slap-Fight!
You two are in accord.

RE: Sexual themes in roleplay
Yup. I still think stating a bill of rights helps armor some players. What you want doesn't change the world, but knowing others think something should be guarded against, eg pressure to RP a scene you don't want to play through, can help a few.

I'm actually interested in counts, and not in a snarky fashion. At least not completely snarky. I remember one rape that went public on TR, and two more that were "unexpected", but OOC consented, that stayed quiet.

I plan on pages in a MU* wiki that lay out behavior expectations, and what is supported and what is not.. I have my own stuff for that, and would include several things from various threads here.
Demonstrate. Model the behavior for others. Accept that no one is a paragon.

RE: Anyone interested in starting a new nWoD game?
I just want warbands, resource control and the added oomph of something fantastical that many characters can tap into. And some badass thing that is Grendel.

RE: Brainstorm Me: City-Level Chess
Alternately, each period of time randomize the order that each group of players decides what gets done.

RE: Brainstorm Me: City-Level Chess
Have players make suggestions about the reasons to target various things, and why, eg its a good resource to claim, it would hurt a group, the defenses are weak, etc.
Randomize all that and pick one.

Age of sail is not actually fun, as far as sailing goes.

RE: Sexual themes in roleplay
Lost me. I see a quote from the post right above his. Carry on.

RE: Sexual themes in roleplay
It's not a misquote. You could argue it's changing the direction from the point of the post to something like "Can you speak for all of situation X, everywhere, ever?", but even then it moves onto reiterating a previously made point.

RE: Sexual themes in roleplay
Could you note the last three times you saw RP'd rape played out as an attention seeking bomb? Just a year and a MU name or type.

RE: Sexual themes in roleplay
You forget the camp that complains that people pretend that they aren't hormonally involved via TS and thus may be more irrational about it than usual. That people conflate the real world privacy about their sex lives with hiding any sexual related activity about their characters from anyone but their TS partners.
Yes, I am a camp, all by myself.

RE: Sexual themes in roleplay
I wish it was treated as a story and character element rather than a hormone induced OOC motivation.
Admittedly it does make players forget to play the most efficient way and do human stoopid IC. However, that ofte is lost amidst all the other human stoopid.

RE: Sexual themes in roleplay
A minor epiphany of phrasing occured to me a few weeks ago.
Play is play. Role play is a type of play. TS is a type of role play. Done.
Note that Game Play is not Role Play. Therefore, Role Playing Games are designed as having crossed purposes. MU*s tend to treat role play as sacrosanct, so the game play cannot intrude on the role play. People won't play to social stats/dice rolls, nor to generalized mind control, but they allow complete mind dominance since you don't role play through that.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
In case anyone wonders, it is rare that a keyboard recovers from a beer spill. It does however, smell like beer until you throw it out the window.
-
RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
Yes, well then imagine that they didn't really type anything, and it's just your mind giving you justification to imagine pre-pubescent teens by. So you can be irritated.
I'm imagining that's how it really is. Can you imagine that?
-
RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
So you think that THAT scenario is in an way limited to pre-pubescent teens too?
It's one thing to assess your innate reaction to something, it's another to assert that it is truthful information. The problem is in your head.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
I do like the pages with brief discussions of where the game is intending to go, or not go. Very helpful.
