@Jennkryst eh, I didn't realize we were heading towards Serenity. In THAT setting, you tail someone, or bribe/trick/force someone into revealing the secret city on the mesa. Anything that might have worked in a classic western. (In the case of my Deadlands game, you follow the mysterious trail of Spanish gold and Conquistador artifacts, almost get eaten by spiders, fight the Air Pirates and the Black Lodge, and let the Grey Princess out.)

I should clarify that I didn't think you were being exclusive, just so busy doing what you were doing it was hard to imagine making an impression on you, if that makes sense. Just one side of the story, as always.

Isn't that the setting where an entire ideal planet went silent and ceased all trade, and no one in the same star system even noticed? It makes me think they don't do optical or EMS observation of any kind.

Room based exploration is BS compared to EMS scanning, optical observation, and trade/resource monitoring and fingerprinting. It's good for a Labyrinth.

The Strange is also able to handle all of that, much as Rifts is, even specifically without the serial numbers filed off.

@TMG , I just thought you had no interest or room in your play for anyone else. That was the impression I got as a player and as Staff (I wasn't anyone important as Staff btw). However, I only have half a brain dedicated only to hating so take that with a grain of salt.

That sort of link list would be awesome to see in ads for new places.

I know how that goes. That is part of why I love the Mac Atlantis client, as it enables easy logging. That saves everything in game more or less, and then I just have to go after the wikis.
I highly recommend writing these things in a local form then converting/copy-pasting for MU* or wiki use.

Also, back up your stuff. You can do it before someone announces a shutdown just as easily.

The wiki is really helpful as the setting is advanced in time from the books. The articles can describe the direction they are imagining instead of every little detail.

@sundown Get defensive, that will make your point. Demonstrating the very thing you are complaining about is a great teaching tool.
Or you could correct and expand, or just move on.

RE: Characters: What keeps you?posted in Mildly Constructive
A combination of players who are patient and interested in discovering what I've made in my character, and events or discussions that evolve that character. The same for those I play with.

What is it that excites you about the character at creation, and is that being used during play?

RE: Experience Gain in nWoD 2.0 - An analysis and shitposted in Mildly Constructive
I was actually entertained by some Apocalyse Engine hacks that allowed a chance to retcon events. Both the direction to describe how things were set up or different in the past than it appeared, and the random results that skewed perfect player escape hit a solid note with me.

I've played Champions, where a weeks play got you 1 xp. For scale, +1 on a 3d6 systrm was 2 pts, but a completely new power could cost between 20 and 80 points easily. That was LIKE a no xp gain campaign.

RE: Experience Gain in nWoD 2.0 - An analysis and shitposted in Mildly Constructive
My only suggestion would be that the 25% charity be the minimum that everyone is moved up to at the end of a given period. Otherwise it's just an extra bonus moving your whole game's xp totals along. You could even be kind and say that the minimum continues to be added to each time period so that gives your new players a start.

I can manage a sentence. I thought the minimum was a little more than that, so no worries.
