I will admit, my job forces me to multitask constantly. I have to be able to look at the computer while writing something on a document, and able to hear what my boss is now telling me I have to do. Bonus points for often having a live driver RIGHTTHERE wanting me to do something for them too. SO. If I am actively doing something when they approach, I will, without looking up from my work, tell them 'I will be with you in a moment'. Just a quick acknowledgement of their presence while I finish this current task. I have found this is very appreciated. People are much more willing to wait for a few minutes if they've been acknowledged. THAT SAID. Half of these fuckers come up to my window already on the phone with someone else and THAT annoys the shit out of me. I shouldn't have to repeat myself three times just because your 'boo' is on the line. 'Boo' can fucking wait 30 seconds so I can get my spiel out and then you can chat with him/her/it all the livelong fucking day. Otherwise, take a step to the side and let me deal with the person behind you while you finish your conversation, asshole.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
@auspice I would agree except... playing Pinhead does not require a younger man. Pinhead isn't an active villain like Freddy, or even Jason. He largely lets the ephemeral do its thing before he makes a stately appearance. His is much more the gravitas of horror than anything. DB can easily still move about in a stately manner, speaking in his usual grave tones (he still does it at conventions!). Admittedly, this sort of thing is also why I avoided the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. I love the actor that replaced Robert Englund. But I grew up with Freddy. Literally. Nobody could ever replace Englund for me. Also why I love Kane Hodder as Jason, despite his not being the 'original' Jason. He was the longest lasting and, to me, the one that created so many of Jason's iconic moments.

I am suspicious. There is no mention of Doug Bradley in the mini-credits at the end. Heather Langenkamp, oddly, but no Doug Bradley.
He's not in it because the director had an insane NDA and he was having none of it. But he has nothing, personally, against the guy who was cast for it and seems to think highly of him.
There is no Doug Bradley and thus it is not Hellraiser. I reject their attempts to replace him.

@sg I loved Sammy J. in that one. And I pretty much love all things John Goodman. But yes. GREAT movie to watch when you want something mindless. Also, credits endscenes tugged the heartstrings.

RE: Comfort Food...
I'm going to guess thin-sliced sirloin beef with egg noodles, it looks to be a teriyaki or soy based sauce, perhaps spicy from the faint red tinges I'm catching... with onions, bean sprouts, green onion, and zucchini.

Dear Bossman:
The next time you want to take off three days with 'bronchitis' that magically disappears in those three days... how about some goddamn help on the busiest day we've had since I started the job instead of sitting on your ass and watching other people? I'm already doing the job of two people, effectively, and today I did it with zero help from the one person who is supposed to 'have my back'. Also, it would be nice if you actually learned some of what I do so I can occasionally take a day off so I can, I don't know... go to the chiropractor for this searing lower spinal pain that's persisted the entire week? Oh but wait... you weren't here all week! And today, you sat on your ass and largely did nothing! SIGH At least the OT will be helpful...

@lithium It was SO GOOD. They had to make a few changes to the Poirot character, but nothing immersion breaking and it actually works out BETTER in the end and is truer to the book Poirot than the '74 version.

I'll admit, probably my favorite movie this year was Murder on the Orient Express. Which... oh no, a reboot of a movie... from 1974. Based on a book from 1934, written by one of my favorite authors. Still a DAMN good movie.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@thenomain I wouldn't get the leather one, it doesn't look properly treated. The regular line, however, are well crafted and meant to hold all your gaming gear for everything from weekly D&D sessions to cons.

@arkandel I know this will sound weird but...
On sale for $10 right now. I have the Handbag of Holding and this thing is AMAZING.

RE: The limits of IC/OOC responsibility
@mietze I've seen both reactions in abundance. Its really a 50/50 split. Not every staffer will go all 'mommy knows best'... but enough will.
-
RE: The limits of IC/OOC responsibility
@mietze Yep! There will also be people who tell staff they're wrong in what they're doing... and just get ignored because clearly staff knows best... and that is how you get Spiders.

The line is blurred between these uses because players don't always take a moment to consider whether or not an outcome should happen.
Staff also don't always take a moment to consider whether or not an outcome should happen. The problem with this is
who is going to tell staff that they are wrongwhat staffer will believe a player over themselves?Fixed that for you. Plenty of people, myself included, have told staff they're wrong. They just choose not to listen, yourself included.
