When I can afford to buy, I buy through DTRPG or Paizo.com. That said, more of the books in my collection than not came from Nebulous Elsewhere. Books are just too damn expensive these days and frankly, after having about 3K worth of oWoD books stolen from me back in the day, I tend to stick to pdf's now.

RE: Alternative Formats to MU
@rook See, and I don't really see a difference between having 3-4 tabs or windows up and having 3-4 (or more) spawn windows up in the client itself. And frankly, I couldn't MUSH if I could have spawn windows. That's too damn much clutter in my RP screen, I lose poses when there's channels, pages, OOC chatter, and RP all on a single window. I have to separate it out to begin with.

RE: Alternative Formats to MU
I don't know about anyone else, but I will personally keep important things not just in separate TABS but in separate WINDOWS. Part of this is because of my dual monitor setup. I can run Amazon Prime Video in one window and drag it over to my 'offhand' monitor while keeping Facebook or MSB up on my 'main' monitor. I would likely do the same for any web-based game. Simply separate that one out into its own window and pull it to one monitor or the other so I can keep it separated from whatever I'm doing between poses.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@surreality As someone who had 'those endowments' as a teenager, I would have told them to go fuck themselves in the chorus line, since apparently having tits automatically makes you a whore. I also sympathize. Its why I stopped auditioning for school plays after the 7th grade despite really enjoying it.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
Murder on the Orient Express was fucking amazing. Man I love Agatha Christie stories so hard, and they make such good movies!

RE: Characters You Enjoyed Playing
@royal It was an honor and a pleasure to play Ramona under Jackson's leadership. You made the unasked for dream of a Bruja-run Elysium come true, and it was hilarious good fun while it lasted!

@goldfish I will always and forever miss Wyatt.

RE: Regarding administration on MSB
@bored Belatedly, there are least three threads that I've seen so far in which @Auspice is given shit for the same post by the same people. Three threads. Only one of which is actually in the Hog Pit. For a post that wasn't even inflammatory or accusatory of anyone, that is absolutely excessive. I would absolutely call that a 'dogpile' considering its talked about in the thread the post was made in, then another thread is made in the Hog Pit to talk about it more, then its brought up here as well. None of the talk has been at all constructive about how else Auspice might have gone about it. How else she might have phrased it to not sound the way it did. Nothing. Nothing at all constructive about it. Not even a little. Instead there were more and more calls for her to be taken down as a mod for being unfit, and over something that would earn little more than a raised brow or slap on the wrist had it happened on a game rather than this forum. I would absolutely call that excessive and unnecessary. I find it simultaneously amusing and a bit horrifying that the three mods for a forum known for its reputation towards shit-flinging are being held to a higher standard than any staffer on any game anywhere.

RE: Regarding administration on MSB
@bored Likely because people haven't been discussing the action nearly as much as they've been discussing the person behind the action? Look back at this thread. A lot of those arguments and 'dog-piles'? They weren't about the action, they were very clearly about the person who supposedly isn't fit to be a moderator after two possible mistakes. A more constructive way to approach it might be to bring up the post that so offends, and state only that they don't believe the post was necessary/pertinent/needed/whatever. Instead, there was a pages long argument over Auspice's personal behavior, both with and without the moderator hat, including critical and non-helpful speculations regarding her intent behind multiple posts. People have taken personal offense to a general announcement made that, while perhaps premature, was in no way so heinous as to be deserving of multiple personal attacks or calls for her removal as a moderator.
Edit: Looking back, some of this post comes off high-handed. My apologies to anyone that felt I was being condescending, that was not my intent.

RE: Regarding administration on MSB
@arkandel It does, at least, prove that there is no 'hivemind'... or rather, that there are many smaller hiveminds. Or cliques, if you prefer. That said, I am glad to have three relatively disparate individuals watching over the forum. It gives a better allowance for 'gut-checking' against someone that you know has differing views. Never a bad thing. Hell, if I could find that on a MU, I might actually try my hand at playing again!
-
RE: Regarding administration on MSB
@arkandel So will there at any point be a more punitive action taken against anyone that sees fit to drag Hog Pit nonsense into the rest of the forum? I mean, obviously I opted into the Hog Pit so I don't mind it nearly as much as those that called for it to be made opt-in only. But it seems rather silly to have had that huge discussion about it, complete with its own shit-flinging and arguments, and gone to all the bother of making it so... if people are just going to drag it right back out into the rest of the forum. I admit, I expect a certain amount of snide cattiness even outside of the Hog Pit, but its certainly starting to leak out more and more. This particular instance that is still going on didn't even start mildly constructive, it went straight to targeted assault against another person. And was quickly chimed in on. Very little of it has been even mildly constructive, and what has been has quickly been drowned out in increasingly scathing back and forth arguments about who is or is not doing/saying the right thing.

RE: Regarding administration on MSB
Jesus, I go to work for ONE DAY...
@thenomain You aren't the only one that sees the not-so-subtle correlations between staffers who are acting in ways that they would ban people for on their own games. Its being noted with high amusement.
@Auspice I will agree and say that maybe the post was a bit premature.. but I don't see anything inherently wrong with it. There are games too numerous to count where staff have pre-emptively posted to stop certain undesirable behaviors before they start. I don't see the difference here.
NOW, I haven't seen this 'Not Mod Voice' post being talked about (sue me, there's still 20 updates on MSB for me to catch up on!)... but if its meant to be an informal forum in the first place, which I believe is the intention but I will stand down to someone with more behind-the-curtain knowledge than me (mods, looking at you!).. then why all the burnt asses about a moderator trying to be informal?

RE: RL Anger
So. We've been car hunting for awhile now, cause Mister Demeanor's car has been on its last legs for a few months now. We finally got a car all picked out, got insurance, we're supposed to pick up the car today. 9am sharp, we're at the dealership. Nobody there. I try to call the guy we're working with, goes to voicemail. Oh hey! Apparently he's on vacation and decided not to say anything! LOVELY. We walk around to the back building. HOORAY! A MANAGER! We speak to her. She doesn't recognize my name as purchasing this car. Looks me up... can't find anything on the deal this guy is supposed to have brokered with us. Mister Demeanor and I spent 2 and a half hours sitting around as they struggle to recreate this deal. I have to go to work, Mister Demeanor has to go to work. FUCK. I come back after work, bring ALL the necessary paperwork, spend another THREE HOURS working on this thing. Turns out, we can't get the car we were originally going to get. The one we have already purchased insurance for. SIGH
(Mind, in the end, I got a NEWER car than the original for not much more per month, but still! ALL DAY spent on this bullshit!)

RE: RL Anger
@auspice We're having a similar issue with the male of the Tonkinese siblings we adopted. He's nowhere near that bad, but we're having to introduce him to the other cats slowly, for short, supervised periods of time. Otherwise he freaks them out and then they run and of course, he chases. I wouldn't be nearly so worried except he is not at all declawed, and could seriously damage one of the girls if things got out of hand. His sister, however, is integrating beautifully, to the point that she spent almost the entire day in the bedroom with me and our two original cats. There was some hissing if she surprised one of them, or they surprised her. But they all managed to be in the room together without anyone trying to attack.
