@auspice I am wondering what size they are going to grow though, the black kitten in particular was 2kg at 14 weeks - cats are typically half grown at sixteen weeks. Combined with her floof she is going to be a gigantic fluff monster.

@aria It can get really spooky, I was doing some house searching as an investment thing, next time I start watching Youtube videos? It was all weird crypto currency scam adverts or people trying to persuade me to invest in nursing homes.

RE: Critters!
So now that the heat wave has mostly passed the kittens are getting more rumbacious and cuddly. Leading to things like this:
Also I really do need to not leave towels and shirts on the floor. Gah.

I have been enjoying 'Star Traders: Frontiers'
It is obviously very much a budget title and the UI is kind of ropy but it seems to be some kind of Rogue Trader alike in a vaguely Duneish universe, crossed with simplified Darkest Dungeons.
I have been working through the main plot and it has some pretty great and well written political shenanigans whilst the plot itself moves on without you even as it responds seamlessly to your actions. Definitely recommended if you want a genuinely interesting RPG where you also have a spaceship in some Dune type universe that is collapsing into chaos as the social order breaks down.
Also I advise boarding actions, you can do a lot of work by having a very fighty crew and captain then defeating your enemies through swording their crew up. As an added bonus engaging in combat is a big xp earner so you can level up very quickly.

Every time people act like that in some manner of gaming forum (not just forums, I mean as in venue for communication) I think back to when I played Guildwars 2 after launch.
I was in one of the top competitive guilds for World v World v World PVP, we were the main force on our server and our server kept bouncing between positions 2 and 3, every time we got into no 2 we would be up against the dread power of the French and their French Canadian allies and be knocked back to the no 3 slot.
Still the main person who lead us in battle, coordinating merciless offensives and herding the swarm of cats that was a huge MMO guild? She was a 40 something nurse with a broad Brummie accent and an endless supply of amazing curses who did not take any shit from anyone.

Today, kittens are unhappy about going to the vet:
They are now micro-chipped and vaccinated though and I let them feast on real meat when they returned, which apparently means they forgot to hate me.

To be fair by the time I got to the final missions there I had enough spare mechwarriors/mechs to field multiple lances anyway. I mean you need the spare mechwarriors to keep running mission after people are inevitably dinged a little.
The spare mechs because you end up with a lot of them from salvage and can make money faster if you never need to stop for repairs. Plus it can be handy to have a mixture of low and high heat builds so that you can adapt to local climate conditions.

RE: Critters!
I let my kittens out onto the balcony today, under strict supervision.
The fluffy black kitten (the cuff link thief) decided that this was amazing and that she had to try to eat all of the cobwebs. Sadly I did not manage to get a picture of her cobweb covered little face.
The black and white kitten? She was very, very interested in the 'down' from the balcony and I also found out that 1) She can jump about 4 feet vertically despite not being 14 weeks old and 2) She can cling to staccato wall like some kind of especially cute spider.
I am definitely not inclined to let her out onto the balcony again.

To be fair my kittens are filling a very important role in return for my feeding them, homing them and giving them medical care.
They are fluffy and super adorable. Like, when I wake up in the morning I typically have the black and white kitten curled up next to me, she wakes up and trills then nuzzles me as I pet her. Then as I sit up and try to get my contact lenses in the fluffy black kitten bounces in, trills and jumps up to purr aggressively for cuddle time.
On the other hand I just found out that their dad weighs 8kg (17.5 lbs?). These are not going to grow to be small cats!

She stole my cuff links then decided to crawl into an empty cereal box:

My kittens begged and I gave them each a sliver of cheese.
They puked all over my carpet. Do not let kittens eat cheese however cute they are.

@surreality To be fair that image does have the tuxedo kitten looking far more derpy than she normally does, here she is two weeks ago, on day one, looking all dignified and protective!

I was proscribed kittens by my doctor.
Well not literally, but it was suggested that fuzzy friends might be a good way to help amelorate my chronic depression.
Meet kitten and other kitten, I have had them two weeks and they are now three months old, but I have failed to name the adorable little idiot fluffballs yet:

I remember when I bought my home off plan, the woman conducting the sale was so very proud, gloating really, about telling me how they had managed to get out of having to include any low cost housing in the development.
This in a city where I cannot walk a quarter of a mile to the shops without seeing multiple homeless beggars. It was disgusting.

I have actually been revisiting Divinity Original Sin 2 multiplayer with my brother and one of my friends, we just finished Act 1.
I had forgotten how fun the game was and how in depth things get, also how hilarious/amusing it is when somebody accidentally heals the undead character or 'accidentally' unleashes some manner of horrific elemental conflagration that ignites two other players' characters.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
There is the other side of this, a few years ago I was walking home from work and one of my neighbours, a nice old man who was a retired teacher and local councilor, stepped out and cautioned me that he thought 'gang people' were 'doing drug things' in my garden.
I lived on a one way street while my vehicle access was through the back to another road, and it was possible to cut through my garden/car parking to save about a five minute walk all the way around. I proceeded up my driveway to find...
About six teenagers in my parking space having quiet conversation, I politely reminded them it was private property and that I lived here then they apologised before going somewhere else without confrontation or argument. The terrible delinquent youth!

I have been playing more Stellaris now that there is a new story expansion/DLC for it, fun so far!
I found a dense cluster of 'tomb worlds' where a long dead race had been wiped out in some kind of apocalyptic war millions of years ago, then some years later?
Found that these planets were inhabited by adorable snoofily (this is a new word) creatures with adorable anteater snouts, descended from the alien's pets. They were also very numerous, psychic and suchlike.
Cue my sending robots to colonise these planets and welcoming the little guys into the galactic community! As cossetted and favoured researchers. There were tons of them already on each planet as well so it hugely boosted the size of my empire even if they are slow breeding, repugnant, fleeting deviants.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@lemon-fox I found that +moral cockpit mods can be enormously useful as well, when applied to mechs that you do not expect to take damage such as LRM platforms.
LRMs are also amazingly potent to the extent that I feel the best possible combination in the campaign is probably two assault weight LRM monsters (Stalkers?) a big Assault weight jumpjet mech that remains somewhat mobile and very brawly with weapons like medium lasers and SRMs, then something king a King Crab for punching very deep holes in armour with multiple AC20s.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@killer-klown Sadly in the new Battletech game pulse lasers are awful. 20% more damage on a medium laser for double the weight and much more heat? No thank you.
Then again they are also not really a factor in the game and feature on all of two mechs, one of which you face in the final mission and one of which you get after the final mission.
