Aww, at least he had a long and it sounds satisfying life.
Also here is a kitten in a box:

@insomnia Belatedly, I do indeed have Windows 10, reinstalling drivers seems to be a semi regular requirement if I want to still be able to talk on Discord or similar. Always annoying though.
@sg For a long time my Firestarter pilot was very much the MVP, especially after getting Ace Pilot. Jumping behind somebody then getting two turns of fire into their back with a full assortment of small lasers was just brutal.
@admiral I think she was just waking up and perhaps not too pleased with it, my stirring was spoiling her perfectly comfortable and seal heating bed.
Right now she is hunting and eating spiders,
Added: Just had an Amazon delivery and now they are both going nuts with the packaging, which has gotten them SUPER EXCITED. Lots of zooms.
So as a new cat owner, I found a few of the videos here super helpful and definitely appreciate this guy's amazingly smooth and calming voice.
Because I am spamming this thread, here is what I woke up to this morning:
Apparently I make a good bed.
I would definitely chime to to the confirm the mentions above of people living in different countries, which is going to lead to very different views on what is 'left' or 'right'.
I am pretty sure that even the most authoritarian mainstream political views in the USA do not include a monarchy, hereditary nobles or having a 'House of Lords' instead of a senate. Though a state (Christian) religion might be more mainstream.
But even the right wing here in the UK are overwhelmingly in favour of a fully tax funded national health system, centralized police, nationally funded primary and secondary education, etc.
Still most 'Centrists' from a US perspective tend to come across to the average person in the UK as pretty extreme right wing with an often quite frankly disturbing and quasi religious faith in 'the free market' with 'capitalism' and 'socialism/communism' repeated like mantras for 'good things' and 'bad things' respectively.
Or ignore this, my microphone stopped working.
I just know that I recently went on a first date with a gorgeous Nigerian woman, she spoke perfect English, worked in Birmingham as a project manager, was pleasantly amazed at how I had some some basic homework on her home country and could talk with her about it.
Then after saying how much she liked living in the UK she started talking about how it was a shame that 'the gays' had so much power and were allowed to, presumably, exist. At this point I paid for the meal and walked out because frankly I have no time for bigots or people who willfully blind themselves to bigotry.
The kittens have worked out that my setting up a towel means that they are going to get their anti ear mite drops, which they hate.
However investigating dangled shoe laces is much more important than hiding under a table and ear drops are followed with ham.
I tend to be pretty open about being into nerdy stuff when it comes to relationships, so I make no secret that I play RPGs and also do so online. As such I tend to date people who are into similar things or at least are aware of them.
I have never dated anyone I met on a MUSH though and to be honest have avoided it to a certain degree. I think the only MUSH people I have given RL contact details or my name to are those I have known for years and years (I have a rare/unusual surname.)
Of course I also live in another country to almost anyone I meet on a MUSH.
I am, generally, in favour of open +sheets but many years ago I played a character on an Exalted game who was a spy.
She was an Air Aspected Dragon Blooded but pretended to be a normal human and to facilitate that staff set her up with 'Air Aspected' as 'Secretly Air Aspected' so that various commands did not pick up her demigod status, I was then very careful to avoid giving it away even as she reluctantly 'revealed' her mere mortal supernatural martial artist status.
One of the more fun characters I have played.
So I mentioned Star Traders a few days ago, today I found out that one the the developers streams on Twitch and seems to be a really cool guy as well as a huge Dune nerd?
It was pretty fun to chat with him not to mention informative.
Today, kittens judge me for not letting them into the wardrobe:
I work for an engineering focused aerospace company and it is a huge issue here, only 15% of the entire workforce are women and they are skewed heavily toward administration type roles that by and large are not paid that well compared to engineers. That then reflects into senior management, though to be fair they are making significant efforts to recruit and promote women, take on women as apprentices, etc.
It was nicely refreshing today that one of the presentations I attended was being given by a 27 year old woman who was a team leader running part of a cutting edge research project. I mean yes, she is probably free of prejudice in employment here, the company is really good about that kind of thing and absolutely stamps down immediately on discrimination. But the pressure she must have faced to go through the whole years long education path to become a materials engineer in such a gigantically male dominated field must have been huge.
@jennkryst Hardly a minor necro.
I just decided to take a look and would note for people's benefit that the game apparently moved, it is now at

No idea what it is like yet but somebody has said hello after I logged in as a guest? Which is a plus.
@Misadventure You are so right here, the sheer quantity and volume of the screeching that Battletech generated over the simple inclusion of another pronoun option in character generation was disgusting.
This is not people being 'oppressed', it is misogynistic man babies who wail and shit themselves because they feel they are not being utterly pandered to and solely accommodated as they believe is their natural due. Anything that they even think looks like it is not specifically designed to fit their particular narrow world view is a fundamental attack on them and a sign of wicked prejudice.
@auspice I am pretty sure that cats just do not stay still for being petted, mine do not at least. They have to get up, rearrange, stretch, try to gnaw off my shirt buttons for some inexplicable reason, cat things. I have mostly managed to teach them that thumbs are not chew toys through.
@auspice I am pretty sure that mine are doing it because they want head scritches. Of course they are still kittens so they are very much at the stage where if one of them decides she wants to roll around stretching and receiving head scritches she might keep at it for two hours, or she might be distracted because something made a noise or moved and zoom off without a second thought.
But this is just a cat I am trying to train into behaving at night. Most cats know what cat-mom sleepy time is damnit!
Mine do not! I was definitely woken up at 3-4am this morning by loud purring and a fluff ball nuzzling insistently at my face. Then I half consciously petted her, fell asleep, was half woken again by more purr nuzzling, repeat until she got bored or tried to bite her sister's head or something.
