Family stuff is so rough sometimes. I always had a pretty okayish relationship with my mom. At one point I considered her my best friend. All of that was kind of shattered in 2016 (YOU KNOW WHY), and I've never been able to look at her the same. I've distanced myself a lot.

I haven't forgiven her for xmas 2020, which I've vented about already, but we had a decent interaction at the beginning of May after I asked for help with moving my horse.

Last week she asked for my help, but I had to decline. She wanted me to meet the farrier and hold her horses while he did their feet because she couldn't be there. The last time I did this for her, though, this farrier started ranting about how covid was a hoax and masks were stupid, blah, blah. So I told her that I wasn't comfortable with that farrier. I also pointed out that I would have found a new one.

At which point she called me Hitlerish because I would have fired someone because I didn't agree with his 'opinion'. Never mind that she also doesn't agree with that 'opinion'.

My middle sister's baby shower was today and I didn't go in large part to avoid my mom. Fortunately my sister is awesome and understanding and I'll hang out with her sometime soon instead.

But jesus fucking christ, I can't wait to cut off my parents entirely.

The turn this thread has taken, which no longer bears much resemblance to what the thread was originally about, has at least been enlightening in answering why I've struggled so hard to connect with many games recently. And perhaps why the ones I did connect with didn't last.

I personally dislike how Scheduled-Plot-Scene heavy games have become. I miss the connections of just collaboratively writing with other people vs participating in what I imagine a RPed tabletop session is like.

But I absolutely understand why it works better for most people.

Finally managed to email someone about an eval, and their waitlist is through August.

I really just want my brain to not be constantly on fire.

If anyone is interested in playing Ark, I have a Ragnarok server set up with some QOL mods and rate fiddling.

If you're interested, the easiest way to connect is by going to your steam client, clicking on view -> servers, then hit the favorites tab. Right click or click the add a server button and put in 192.154.225.101:27015. Should be called Floofnarok. You can either connect from there, or it will also now show up in your favorites when you look at the servers in game.

We just wiped progress, so it's a pretty clean slate again!

Man, I loooved playing on Cuendillar, but I have a shitty memory and I wouldn't know how to play on a WoT game anymore without good files or reading some of the books again.

• I've been deeply obsessed with horses since I was capable of having obsessions.
• My current horse is a rare breed, of which there are around 300 in the US and 1500 in the world.
• I have a tumor in my head that caused me to go through puberty super early, and may cause blindness in the future if it ends up growing.
• I've been grooming dogs for over a decade. I'm really good at it, but I hate it. So much.
• I have a BS in Software Development, but no one will hire me because I suck at resumes, cover letters, and interviewing.
• I've had issues with depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation since I was around 10. I was so depressed in my 20s that I barely remember those years.
• I'm not big on labels, but if I had to pick right now I'd identify as bi-aposexual.
• I was co-Valedictorian of my high school class solely because I didn't want to give a speech, so they had me share it with someone who actually cared.
• I'm obsessive about learning, and I pick things up pretty quickly. I think one of the biggest sources of existential despair in my life is that I can't learn everything.
• My son will be old enough to vote in the next presidential election.
• I have a low content wolf dog.
• I was allergic to bubblebath when I was little, so I played with shaving cream in the bath instead.
• Ron Glass kissed me on the forehead.
• I have a thing for camo patterns.
• I prefer driving a stick shift.
• I quit drinking soda cold turkey about 5 years ago.
• I've played World of Warcraft with Kristian Nairn (Hodor in Game of Thrones).
• I have severe plantar fasciitis and I'm super jealous of people who can stand up and walk around for more than a couple hours without intense pain.
• I'm sorry my list is so long, I got carried away pretending I'm interesting.

No, this will be before Moreta's time, before most of the familiar Pern history, and largely in an alternate timeline where that doesn't/won't exist.

Lost my job a month ago, unemployment has been non-communicative, not one place I've applied to has gotten back to me, my account's overdrawn once and last I checked I had $35 in my bank account, which will overdraw again in a couple days on a loan to the bank that's almost paid off. I'm getting kicked out of my home in June, and I was supposed to be moving to Texas to a room that a friend has for me, so I'm not really sure what to do about the job thing if I only have a month if someone were to hire me tomorrow. The only reason I can move at all is because my mom is willing to drive me, otherwise I'd just be homeless, I guess.

I fucking hate my life.

Not gonna lie, Threadfall was my favorite Pern game! I feel like everything else has needed to live up to it since then in my head.
