    • Gas Money

I really didn't want to have to come here asking for more money after everyone was so kind about helping me out with my cat's vet bill before he passed. But poverty kind of pushes dignity to the side, I suppose.

I've been living with my parents for the last year after I lost my job and home, then another job, then couldn't find another job before finally giving up because of an upcoming move. I'm supposed to be moving to Austin, TX in the next couple days, but my emotionally abusive father has decided to use this moment, the moment he'll finally get rid of me for good, to put his foot down about lending me anymore money. I don't blame him for not wanting to lend me more, honestly, but it does put me in an awkward spot.

I have about $50 squirreled away for gas, at this point, and I know that won't get me there. I don't need to eat or anything (I'll probably be freaking out too much, anyway!), I just need to get where I'm going.

If anyone has any spare cash I could borrow (I'm totally willing to pay people back once I get a job!), I would be forever grateful. If you're so inclined, my paypal is redacted, and my venmo is redacted. (Feel free to pm me if you'd like to help, I didn't realize this category was public.)

Thank you so much! I can't wait until I'm settled and can pay it forward when other people come up in need! ❤

    • RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)

I've been told by a male coworker that I have an 'intimidating aura'. I've also been told by a female manager (I think was a compliment?) that I'm really good at blowing people off, and I think that 'intimidating' face is what she was referring to.

I'm quietly terrified of literally everything and everyone, though. I'm just bad at having facial expressions.

I've been learning how to do chain maille. It's fun! This is a bracelet I made for my sister a few weeks ago. She's since lost it. -_-

We definitely have both perspectives on staff. Bourbon is good at coming up with stuff and running things. Decatur (me) is basically the person you're talking about; scared of engaging for fear of Doing It Wrong, not proactive about finding RP, etc. It's definitely something that's on my mind as a staffer, wanting to make it easier for people like me to be involved.

      Almost time for temperature Tuesday's.

Is this the wrong time to admit that I lived near Omaha for a decade and only went to Runza once, and I don't even know what Big Fred's is?

      Also I say soda.

Oh, theirs. Sorry, thought that would be obvious, but if I were you I'd also be freaked.

Sorry, I'm so used to being the self-absorbed snowflake in my family, I just assume anything negative is directed at me. XD I definitely agree with you! My dad used to be one of those responsible gun owners. My parents used to be democrats, even. They're both college-educated, they're reasonably well off in a way I'll probably never experience myself. Now they've turned into stereotypical racist, rural rednecks. Despite my dad being an immigrant himself. The irony seriously hurts. I don't understand them at all anymore.

      @surreality said in RL Anger:

@PuppyBreath The reason you're glad you don't have a gun in the house is the same as mine, and I feel you on that one.

My folks do the same thing. They are similarly head-fucked into thinking they have a corner on discernment re: who is and isn't 'deserving', and their take on health care is 'why the fuck should we care about health care being accessible to anybody else, fuck this socialist bullshit, we have medicare now and don't have to care'.

There really are days I wish the irony fairy was an actual thing that'd show up and sparkle the shit out of somebody's face for a few seconds when something like that escapes their mouths. 😕

My parents were both military. They don't have to worry about healthcare, so they definitely don't give any thought to how other people get theirs. They hated ACA even more because one of my sisters was just the right age that she didn't get a break on premiums. But, hey, I still convinced that sister to care about politics and now it's us on this side and everyone else on the other, so at least I'm not completely alone.

If you ever need someone to lean on about the Dark, always feel free to ping me. That goes for anyone. I kind of suck at being comforting or expressing emotions, but I will always listen to someone who needs someone to listen to them.

It's a long ways off, but next November I'll prob roommate-shop myself (when my lease is up). I would not be opposed to finding a house to rent that can handle a handful of critters. 😄

Awesome! I have some short term housing options available once I actually get out there, so that could potentially be a time frame that'd work. I don't have specific plans yet, but I'd really like to be there before next winter at the latest.

I live near Omaha in Iowa (south of Council Bluffs). Honestly not for much longer, though, hopefully. If I have to live through another winter like this, I might drive into the river. Assuming my goddamned car will start in the cold.

HEY SHUT UP. It said I just probably shouldn't work with people in general.

@Sunny I have pretty fuzzy memories, too! But I remember having fun! Pretty sure T'gar was played by Colin Farrell. And his dragon was Echeloth. I basically forgot about this character until years later when someone on Norcon ended up being a T'gar and I was like... why is that name so familiar-- OH.

I've always kind of wanted a western WoD game. I think they've existed? But I've never had the chance to play on one. I would also settle for a space western, but that might be pushing it.

In many animal species, in most primates, holding eye contact is meant to be challenging. I'm not convinced macho bullshit isn't the reason prolonged eye contact is even a thing.

It's probably just that I'm old but I love that he looks like he's about to say "Hey there, Wilbur."

I was tsking him for trying to solicit the affections of his reflection, so it might be more along the lines of, 'ma'am, could you give us some privacy.' XD

    • RE: Sexuality: IC and OOC

I swore I posted in this thread before, but I can't find it if I did. Probably one of those 'write something up and discard instead of posting' things, lol.

I've never been one to put much thought into labels. I've always figured it's because I'm terrible at making decisions, but I think part of me is just scared to definitively label myself and end up being wrong. That said, my BFF is very into labels so I think about it a little more because of them than I would otherwise.

I'm pretty solidly asexual and aromantic. I've always known I'm not cis, but my gender is basically a shrug emoji. I think if I knew what trans people were when I was younger and praying to wake up as a boy every time I went to bed (spoiler alert, atheist now), maybe I'd be trans masc? As it is, I'm old and ace and agender works well enough for me right now.

As for characters I play, they're almost exclusively male and not a one of them has ever been straight (usually bi, some closeted so straight-appearing, etc). Female characters rarely last long, but it doesn't keep me from trying occasionally.
