@auspice Yeah, by making Force users a less OOC EXCLUSIVE club, you'll probably actually have a better diversity layout in terms of character types, because there'll be less of a sense of exclusivity surrounding a concept, which makes people want the concept.

We should take advantage of this opportunity to talk about how cool Aleksei is.
Pretty cool, right?
Do we need to? He already knows everything, he doesn't need to know he's enslaved our hearts and minds as well. God.
Enslaving does seem out of character for him.
It's always the ones you least suspect.
I don't even know who @TheOnceler is!

RE: Star Wars?
@wildbaboons That's not actually an enticing sell. I'm not particularly interested in like -- a sub-grid of a game focused on something else? That seems silly.

RE: Character 'types'
Passion seems to be the connecting threads for most of my successful characters. (By "successful" I generally mean that I end up playing long-term and don't get tired of/abandon.) Sometimes it's super wildly apparent passion, sometimes it's brewing beneath the surface, but I gotta have it. Sometimes I play dark and snarky, sometimes bright and shiny, but they all tend to have that connecting thread of passion.
Degrees of self-loathing also tend to crop up often in my characters. Especially when they're hidden behind various levels of confidence or vanity.

This was posted by @Tat on the Ares Discord, and I think it's a strong, good, nuanced outsider non-spoiler breakdown of this season of Game of Thrones.

Or: D&D plots, GRRM pants.
While the points are all good, I feel like that's an abuse of Twitter. I blame Trump for making it cool to post giant stories on Twitter.
That was an evolution of Twitter entirely independent of Trump. It's been common for years.

RE: Dead Celebrities 2019
@Sparks I'm sad about that one, too. I'm also not an architecture nerd, but my alma mater had a really beautiful building built by him back in the 60s or 70s, and I always thought that was so cool.

RE: Arx: @clues
I rarely come across people hoarding clues. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places? For the most part I encounter people who are happy to share with clues with me. I am happy to share clues with other! The number of clues that I won't share is very small, and that's just because it's info my character wouldn't share in the first place because it's super secret or dangerous. But I could probably count those clues on one hand.
Clue sharing is actually one of the best ways to get players involved in something.
Also my clues are already in a database called EVERNOTE.

RE: Arx: @clues
@shincashay I don't know if 1 AP is possible. The formula is in help action points, though:
Sharing a clue costs an amount based on your social stats, social skills, and investigation skill (100/(social stats + social skills + investigation * 3)).
I think raising Investigation is the most efficient way to lower clue share costs. I'd have to math out what it would be if you had max social stats, skills, and investigation, though, so see the total lowest potential cost.

RE: New Face 4 New Games
@Joyeuse Yeah, I definitely get that. They'll likely open up OC applications again once the current freeze on stuff is finished, but right now it's only roster apps. I'll say that the game very purposefully cultivates an OOCly forgiving culture in terms of flubs and slip-ups in regards to theme so that people aren't punished for OOC ignorance, and that people are really responsive regarding game questions and such. But I definitely understand whenever someone goes "Nope, this game is just Too Much for me to jump into."

@Wizz Yeah, my roommate is trans and genderqueer, and I totally recommended the show to them, but I was also like BUT HERE'S A FUCKING HUGE-ASS TRIGGER WARNING BEFORE YOU START. I am not trans and I've never been the victim of any forced hospitalization, but it squicked me hard.

ike a dogpile isn't all that obvious unless you're on the receiving end of it.
A dogpile is super easy to spot if you're not the one piling on. If you are one of the people piling on, taking a step back and paying attention to those around you will also cue you in.
It actually was easy to miss with something like the condemn code, because you weren't seeing the effects except for that once a week at cron when suddenly you'll see someone at the top of the chart with something crazy like 40 condemns. It's easy to watch dogpiles in process when they're public and visible. And even that requires people to be reading those bbposts, and we know how many players don't do that at all.

RE: Fandom and entitlement
There are no sex scenes, and the romantic nature of their close relationship is generally left as fairly obvious subtext. (It was obvious enough that my dad got it, at any rate.)
