@arkandel I thought the whole point of vaccination was to make you immune to the disease and stop it spreading. So either A) lotta people never got vaccinated/followed up with boosters or B) measels is evolving to combat the vaccinations

It's the first one. Vaccination rates are dropping due to bullshit false narratives about their dangers, and thus measles outbreaks are increasing.

There are also always people who can't get vaccinations for actual reasons, like being immuno-suppressed. So public health relies on everyone who can safely be vaccinated doing so.

There's no real way to win on that for staff tbh. People get unhappy if a game is too big for the staff vision to be able to handle and accommodate, but people also get unhappy when staff starts capping numbers. No easy answer. In the end it amounted mostly to "first come, first serve" that they kept open into the evening to try and let people get home from work to slip on, even though they were pretty much over double what they were expecting. I guess by definition it's exclusionary in that there are people being excluded! Like, I can't actually argue with the word. Anything that isn't open is exclusionary. The reasoning of "this is the number of players we can comfortably handle with our number of staffers" is a common enough idea in the MU* community, though. Idk!

Yeah, I believe the concern is about number of players instead of number of alts.

(Also FWIW in general to people I don't think staff plans to engage much on MSB so actual players with questions about stuff on the game are probably more likely to get official answers on the game itself.)

@thenomain If you feel really strongly that there's something to excuse, you can just post up a log of the offending behavior on an appropriate forum post. Presumably it would speak for itself.

@insomniac7809 Yeah, click the three dots next to the upvoting options on a post and there's a "Flag for moderation" option.

To my memory, the reason for not locking the initial ad posts was so that people could ask game questions and have them answered. Which is not an endorsement or condemnation, but I think at least one person was like "I don't know why they don't just lock the threads." I believe that was the idea.

This particular thread is probably not the place to argue whether you agree with the mod team's stated rules of engagement for the forum section. I totally get why that debate has gone around several times, because I think it's complicated, but right now the Rules of Engagement are what they are at present.

Planning out an event, organizing stuff, making fun spreadsheet formulas to help track the competition, and then having it go off really smoothly. 😄 Just really great and satisfying. And noticing the things that I can do differently for next time!

People who are expecting high magic or a high fantasy Arx alternative will be disappointed anyhow, since that isn't what it is.

Yeah. People expecting something akin to WoD are also going to be very disappointed. People calling it urban fantasy/horror are also wrong, because it's not urban? (It's a legitimately tiny town.) Or a horror game. It's very much not WoD. (Although there might be horror-themed plots, I imagine, it is absolutely not baked into the theme the way it is for WoD.) People who are expecting quick and powerful magic are probably gonna be disappointed, too.

But for the folks who have mentioned that this must mean the game will move too fast: I don't think this is going to be at all indicative of the pace of the game. It was only indicative of the pace of people showing up on the game (starting at 6am). There's nothing really about the shutting down of apps that's suggested to correlate with overall pace of story. It was just dealing with a rush.

You should also probably tell people when your game is open. That's a thing too.

The original post did say when it was opening.

@testament I legitimately love tablet POS systems, especially when they just swing it around on the stand and you can SIGN right on the TABLET and tip if you want. It makes me happy.

My crotchety fellow will have been born in the town a long time ago, but had been a little over ambitious and decided to whisk away to city-life for better opportunities. Unfortunately he'd struck out one too many times and after two decades away from the home turf, there's nowhere else he's got to go. He doesn't know many of these younger faces around and he's pretty behind on the times.

Will probably enjoy digging in a musty used bookstore, give side-eye to the youths on instagram and take his coffee black. Also still uses a flip phone.

He's gonna be so happy about how modern and hipster Garrett has made the cafe. ENJOY THE TABLET CASH REGISTER AND LATTE ART.
