RE: twitch
I streamed through Witcher 3 for several months, but finally finished it up a couple weeks ago! I started Final Fantasy IV for the first time a few days ago. If anybody is curious, they are welcome to pop in! https://www.twitch.tv/rozzingit

RE: What's your nerd origin story?
@Arkandel Yes. I've even got a weird apparently-benign mutation in my retinas. I WAS BORN THIS WAY.

RE: What's your nerd origin story?
It's hard for me to even pinpoint. I'm from a nerd FAMILY, and it was just always a part of my life. My dad read The Hobbit and The Chronicles of Narnia to me when I was little, and the vast majority of my book intake growing up was fantasy. We listened to the BBC radio play of Lord of the Rings on family car trips and fancast imaginary movie adaptations years before the movies actually happened. Star Trek and Star Wars were also constants for as long as I can remember. I come by it honestly from both of my parents, but my dad is particularly scholarly about his consumption, particularly with stuff like Tolkien and Lewis. (He's a priest and a theologian, and he appreciated their work a lot on multiple levels through that lens.) We were always COINCIDENTALLY OUT SICK from school on days when a new Star Wars or Lord of the Rings movie would come out, that sort of thing.
So I guess I don't have a nerd origin story. I WAS JUST BORN TO IT. I came to MU*s by way of Redwall: I loved the books when I was little and found Redwall MUCK at some point in late elementary/early middle school. And that was that.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@Arkandel Lmao. How many reports did you end up with?
His name was MALIGNANT or something like that before I guess he switched to Moon-Man. I was just like, lol, not even trying

Okay my vicious vulture comment is...
...you don't need to brood on channels all the time.

@Tempest You earned that upvote.
This is not a GREAT look for you in the Ad section with the current rules.

RE: Dice/+check
I am not a coder and have something useful to say but it might be good to specify what codebase you're working on?

RE: Atlantis Client
Another bug, same version: tried to add a new hotkey. Got through the first prompt to set the hotkey itself, but when I selected the action to take -- in this case, directing focus to a specific spawn -- Atlantis crashed. Happened the next time I tried it, too.

RE: RL Anger
Also men's business wear just has more layers and is overall warmer and the thermostat is generally set in deference to that.

RE: Atlantis Client
Similar issue on 0.9.9.6-rc4. Created a new character under a world, couldn't select it to edit. However, closing and reopening the app made it possible for me to select and edit the character. (Also note, this version is still listed as 0.9.9.5 Beta when you check the version info in the Atlantis client.)

ETA: I'm not entirely sure that I have the willpower to address that gently. I told her that Irish immigrants were indentured servitude and had rights, unlike chattel slavery, but if it turns into an argument, I dont know if I can keep Jim Halpert WTF from turning into...
I hope you're not unironically defending the practise of indentured servitude.
If you compare the horrors of two things, and you call thing A more horrific, is that...defending thing B???

RE: How To Treat Your Players Right
Arx already lets you view your recent pages with page/last or page/list, so clearly it's saving stuff per session already.

RE: How To Treat Your Players Right
@TiredEwok Sure, I'm not talking about people not making any effort in regards to asking someone to leave them alone, establishing boundaries, etc. But my strong disagreement would come down to "just block the person and wait for them to try and finagle around the block." So I guess my objection is more about "just use coded blocking tools if that person can't respect you asking them not to contact you." Because the simple fact of "person doesn't respect someone else asking them not to contact them" would be something I'd want to act on as a staffer.

I am all for reporting people for shit behavior. I totally am. But there are ways to deal with it on the player's end that can, and in my opinion, should be done first. Outside of extreme cases, reporting a person to staff should only be done as a last resort, in my opinion. So-in-so is doing something you consider harassment? Block them via client after telling them to leave you alone and that you'll be blocking them, logging you doing so. If they circumvent it or find other ways to bother you... then report them. Provide the log of you asking them to leave you alone and notifying you'll be blocking them along with the other evidence.
ETA: Staff usually has enough on their plates as it is. FFS, please stop adding to their work load. Do what you can on your end first before involving them.
STRONGLY disagree. If someone literally can't respect a person's direct request not to engage with them OOCly, I absolutely want to know immediately. I think that methods of page-blocking just -- end up directing people to harass others. Like, if someone just annoys you/hits your buttons but not in a harmful sort of way and you want to gag their OOC chatter or whatnot, that's fine, that's not reportable, that's just a peeve. But I absolutely want to know if someone can't respect a simple boundary of "please don't page me." Because people who can't respect simple boundaries inevitably can't respect even more important ones. I want to deal with that early, not after a number of people have all page-blocked someone without saying anything so that that person can just continue to fester on the game bothering people.
