RE: MU Things I Love
I accidentally left my character idling in a public room when someone happened by to RP and what happened thereupon was the funniest scene I have had in a dog's age.

RE: MU Things I Love
I think... I think I have remembered how to RP every day? Maybe? Possibly?

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
honestly i know delivery fail feels like such a fwp thing to complain about but omg sometimes it's just THE LAST STRAW

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@mietze OH MAN THIS ABSENCE OF PHO BROTH IS A TRAGEDY. Delivery screwups are SUCH a bummer, I have totally gotten teary over things like that on a rough day :C
I forgot to eat dinner tonight. Or, well, I just never felt hungry. I am now terrified that I am getting sick, which I absolutely do not have time to do since I have... like, five jury trials calendared before the end of the year.
i wish i felt like eating even something delicious like pho.

RE: Paying for a MU*?
@ganymede I feel guilty about charging what I charge, I can never raise my prices, lol.

RE: Paying for a MU*?
Honestly...
As much as I ordinarily agree that the entitlement problem is the main reason I wouldn't want to let monetary exchange happen ...
With the shoe on the other foot, I cannot tell you how much more entitled, obnoxious and rude my appointed clients who pay nothing are than the clients with whom I have entered into a contract to pay me money. The people who get my time for free treat me like garbage and almost without fail, the people who pay $175 a billable hour for what I do treat my time with respect.
I don't know that I'd want to apply this paradigm shift to my MU life - for one thing I definitely don't want a MUSH to cost like a lawyer costs, lol - but I don't know that it would actually be as horrendous as we imagine.

RE: MU Things I Love
Got a scene in this morning. There was a really fun moment in it that warmed the cockles of my black little heart. Just a highly relatable thing that the person I was RPing with posed and I just. UGH. IT WAS SO CUTE.

RE: RL friends
@ganymede I consistently feel like my trial practice is more informed by RP than it is by any professional training I've ever had. Cross-examination, for example, is just being hyper alert to the details in someone else's pose.

RE: The Work Thread
Recorded CLE seminars would make a great insomnia cure.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@too-old-for-this I do a lot of clothes donations this way but for some reason the 'goodwill this medical equipment i accidentally purchased by hitting buy twice' just did not occur to me at all, so TY.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@too-old-for-this OH SHIT Goodwill is such a good idea for this extra blood pressure machine. I bet someone who could really use one might find it there.
-
RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
Returning an item is the fucking worst.
Does anyone need a home blood pressure machine? I'm just kidding, I've been trying to get my shit together to ship stuff to a friend for literal weeks at this point and it still hasn't happened, so I am sure as heckie not trying to send my accidentally doubled blood pressure machine to somebody else.

RE: Alternative Lords & Ladies Settings

RE: Pandemic Era Issues
Nurses leaving because they refuse to get vaccinated breaks my heart in two. I honestly struggle to even comprehend it. I'm so sorry that this situation exists and that it is weighing on you.
I've had at least one social worker quit over the state vaccine mandate here, and it's thrown some things into a bit of chaos, but we're not... you know, medical professionals. I'm not religious and rarely pray but I thanked G-d for science and human ingenuity when the vaccines came out. I thought it was the beginning of the end of this hideous mess.
Should never, ever, ever have become a politically divisive issue in the first place.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
Can't find my wallet.
Am tired.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@sunny Absolutely call the cops if violence is in progress. Absolutely. I would never advise someone not to use law enforcement to protect themselves from violence. Just don't volunteer information not about the incident they're investigating, don't give them permission to search just because they ask, and be prepared to say "I'm invoking my right to remain silent" or "I want an attorney before this goes any further" at any time.
I'm a criminal defense attorney and I've called the police before when I felt endangered (or when someone else was). You just always gotta remember to safeguard yourself and your rights when you do.
Edit: idk what the video says so I'm absolutely just yelling HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ON THINGS

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@ganymede I hadn't actually realized that he never got it in writing. Especially since they didn't even interpret it on estoppel grounds. Can you ever really act in reasonable reliance on a contract that isn't reduced to writing & get it enforced on a contract theory without reaching equitable estoppel? Ug, this whole thing is even stupider than I realized.
