@sunny Ares does have a system for tagging warnings but getting people to be consistent is... another... thing. Mostly in my experience this just means we have to tell people not to use warnings for stupid jokes.

RE: Sensitivity in gaming
@derp I have no idea where the hand-wringing you are perceiving is occurring. You appear to be reacting hyperbolically to demands that don't - as far as I can tell from my read of this thread - exist.
I don't think anyone has an expectation that GMs will accommodate everyone - or indeed, anyone. What I have seen is a general expectation that players will have an escape route or the option to leave (or FTB) if something is too much for them, and that GMs will be prepared to warn for reasonably common triggers in their content.
I imagine that the points of reasonable disagreement are probably within the details of this spectrum.

What exactly requires "gushing empathy" here?

RE: Sensitivity in gaming
This is a really enragingly bad video & I've deleted it from my watch history because youtube's algorithm already subjects me to too much puerile whining from gamers who think they've been wounded by the existence of perspectives outside their own.
It's just not that hard to communicate with the players you're at the table with, be it a tabletop table or a MUSH table, about their comfort levels.

RE: Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab
BPAL is one of my favorite places for random impulse purchases that aren't video games or dice, but WOW y'all are organized. I just have a plastic box in my sock drawer where I hoard them and apportion tiny amounts of nice smells to portion out to myself as a reward for surviving weekdays.

@snackness GOOD TO KNOW. I paid through the nose for my last round of kitty insulin.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
it took me three hours to make 4 mailings today because I kept printing out the wrong thing, throwing away the wrong thing, taking calls, getting up to make coffee, stopping to dance with the dog, having to make a new envelope because I put the wrong sticker ...
Assessment soon. Also did my cognitive assessment this morning after breakfast. Knock on wood.
Five minutes is a really long time to sit and watch letters flash across the screen waiting to hit the spacebar on one letter.

RE: How are you coping with COVID (and other 2020 fun)?
@derp I've been so bad about it this year, I'm terrified of my reporting period ending next year. Last time I ended up having to forcefeed myself like... 18 hours of downloads about weed law that was barely peripherally related to my practice. Maybe I'll be smarter in 2021.

@Rinel Ditto what Gany said. I can't blame you at all for having to stop the work you were doing - it was so emotionally taxing and so much investment even when the world was only normal amounts of gone to shit. I'm glad you're keeping your license up (oh fuck I better find some CLEs to do...).
You were fighting a very hard fight. This is not failure, it's tactical withdrawal. You'll live to fight another day, maybe in a different way, but somehow. You've had results to be proud of, and you changed lives in concrete ways.
I don't know what a solo defense attorney in a jurisdiction you don't practice has to offer you, but if you come up with something I'm here.

@sunny This is so rough, I'm sorry.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
I finally have my ADHD assessment scheduled, after 9 random forms and a commitment to pay $900 out of pocket because it's out of network even though my insurance provider is listed on their website.

RE: Virtual table-top
No but if you download beyond20 you can use your dndbeyond for roll20 or VTT. Also anyone in your dndbeyond campaign can use your books if you enable content sharing. Also they expanded the number of campaigns subscribers can share their stuff with due to pandemic which I thought was pretty cool.
This as for dndbeyond brought to you by...

RE: Virtual table-top
GMing on VTT is better than on roll20. Roll20 is fine as a player but as a GM I found it to be a Struggle.

RE: Brandon Sanderson
Way of Kings is 45 hours and 30 mnutes, Words of Radiance is 48 hours and 13 minutes, Edgedancer is 6 hours and 23 minutes, Oathbringer is 55 hours and 5 minutes, and Rhythm of War is 57 hours and 26 minutes.
I'll probably skip the Edgedancer relisten. You know. Lol.
