@Kanye-Qwest Having a lawyer do your talking for you just really terrifies people because of the implied threat of suit, I think. Even when your lawyer has a spine roughly the consistency of marshmallow fluff.

@ThatGuyThere You know, I frequently offer to do this for friends and nobody wants to escalate for some reason.

Why would it be more complicated to issue a refund when you pay with a credit card? The credit card will pay, it's a bank. I don't get it.

But how do you write a public callout post saying "today we acted like goddamn adults"? I mean we have a thread for when things are really awesome and a thread for vicious complaining but "things operating within normal parameters" on the day to day is hard to get excited about one way or another.

I'm glad things worked out for you though!

With @Sunny on this one. Who cares if they are an asshole in only some walks of life? I'm confused.

@mietze Proactive players who actually run with things immediately get branded as part of the staffers' pets' clique, though, so I mean, it's just kind of the nature of the hobby at this point.

I'm not interested in playing without continuity and overarching story. I find that boring. Shrughands!

I rewatched Frasier with my dad recently. That was a lot of fun.

Working on CG to try out NOLA. Beast: the Primordial looks super fun to me.

I can't believe that the response to WTFE's story was to go "well, actually, I'm going to disagree by invalidating your own lived experience as a player".

      ?????

    • RE: How to Change MUing

I log in from work even when not available for more RP than, like, messengers. I like the social aspect of the community and only play with people I enjoy. This also means I am around so that I can be scheduled with, or so that I can schedule RP with others for a time when I am actually available! Also, sometimes I'll get a quiet stretch at work and can actually RP something random.

But why is this casual approach to being logged in a problem for anyone?

Slow burn is where it is at. I share your frustration with the desire to rp relationships etc on fast forward. I don't know that I have a constructive solution for how to get the twain to meet though.

Being on the same rp or character building wavelength with someone else is the greatest feeling. Esp if it's someone new or new to you. ❤ ❤ ❤

    • RE: Where do you draw the line in having your character take what would otherwise be an "IC" action for them?

I used to have more sympathy for this argument, that my character just wouldn't do this that or the other thing, but meh. Take responsibility for your preferences. You wrote the damn character.

There are lots of things my characters will or won't do but if it's inconvenient to the RP, if I can't find a way to make it work, isn't that my responsibility to deal with and not the other players'?

THEY ARE THE CHARACTERS. YOU ARE THE AUTHOR. YOU OUTRANK THEM.

How does PvE attract dicks who want to beat other people up? That is the opposite of PvE.

    • RE: POLL: Super Hero MU Gut Check

Honestly any superhero team / pirate group / collection of losers can work -- Avengers Academy would be a super fun concept for a game (trying to head off supervillainy in its infancy!).

I think a lot of your ideas here are fun or good although many of them are still too broad for what I would consider focused. Remember to think about the reasons focused works better. Why are these characters continuing to have to interact?

I mean, I think in ANY context a smaller, more focused game is going to be more successful than a giant sprawling mess.
