@Ganymede Not just IN, I'm bringing people! Definitely come play. It's a nice sandbox.

Once in a long while a game comes along with a unique theme that makes me sit up and pay attention, and looks awesome enough to pull me out of retirement. Something that genuinely excites me to play, rather than merely "I'll make something and try it out".

This is what this game feels to me.

      @RightMeow

Like he put me in a situation, I couldn't get to the door exactly and he was like here's my dick. -- I got out of it relatively unscathed, but it made me stop TT'ing for like ever.

"So this item is on clearance, but last time I was in it was another 25% off."

Oh, yeah, we were running a promotion.

      "Can you apply it anyway?"

...no. It was down more then. It isn't now. That's what a sale is.

"Then can I apply this discount off full-price merchandise?"

...no. Because this is not full-price.

"Do you have any other coupons? Can I get some socks for free? Look, there's sort of a mark on the leather, can you discount it for that?"

Lady, buy the fucking thing or don't, stop acting like a broke-ass motherfucker while you're carrying around Louis Vutton.

Aw shit, I think I saw this same woman in an EB Games store not long ago. There was a line up of like 8 or 10 people, and this woman was at the counter with 3 or 4 game her teenaged kids picked out. She was going on and on about the prices and just wouldn't stop, despite the impatient customers all glaring at her.

It was like "Are you sure there are no discounts on these? What about your other stores? How do you know they're not running sales? I want you to call them and find out!" And AFTER all that, she's still like, "Well, let me call Best Buy and have them price check for me." /while/ standing at the counter. And then, "See? They're cheaper by three bucks. They're checking to see if they have it in stock. If they do I'll get it there instead, not at your overpriced store!"

Honestly, reading this thread and reflecting on my own job, I am constantly reminded of why I'm seriously contemplating early retirement. Even if it means taking a substantial penalty.

"Good Hunting" was superb, one of my favorites.

I'm only through about half of the shorts, but so far "Good Hunting" just wouldn't get out of my brain. The story is amazing but the mixing of genre makes it difficult for my brain to process. The best part though? Victorian Steam-Punk Hong Kong would make a kick-ass game setting.

    • RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.

I lost a cat many years ago, when I was just out of college. I adopted her from SPCA when she was three months old, but she wasn't in the best of health (probably why she was abandoned in the first place). She only lived for a couple of years but she was my constant companion during her time with me. I was devastated when she died, and I've been unable to have another pet ever since.

So @Ganymede I completely sympathize with your sadness. This is reminding me of my old pal Freya. 😞

      The pranking.

You can be very laid back and not fuck with people's shit.

You can be very laid back and sensitive to the social peculiarities of others.

The instant someone screws with another's work station is the moment they get fired.

Yes. If something like this happens at my work place, I will personally do the firing.

It's probably a good thing I never wanted to staff on a MU*.

I have been using WebMu at work, because the company firewall shuts down port access for every other mu*client. Unfortunately WebMu seems to be down as of yesterday, and there is no way to tell if it's coming back.

Does anyone know anything about the state of WebMu?

@faraday In all my years of Mushing, I have never even come close to considering setting up a game. But if the resources exist now that make things relatively easy....

....well, there is still the cost of hosting to consider, I guess?

I'm playing here now, just to try things out. Staff are super helpful and friendly, folks are friendly, and I kinda like the idea of normal drama for a change, instead of supernatural super-friends drama all the time.

    • RE: Darkwater: The Return

@Cobaltasaurus I for one am glad that you brought back Darkwater for a bit. It let me revisit my old PCs: to see how one of them has changed and progressed in 10 years, and another actually saw a major development this time around. Not to mention the Assault on the Fraternity House - finally got to see my Ling in an actual fight. That was both memorable and awesome.

Darkwater 2.0 never picked up the way 1.0 did (probably because of the 1e system), and the playerbase remained small all along. That being said, that small playerbase was inordinately active, and ironically you could usually find more RP there than much larger games. Short as it was, I think it was a damn good run. You should be proud of it.

I gave up thought as I just couldn't find any RP and I'm generally too shy to start page-begging! 😛

Fate's Harvest is kinda not easy to find RP still. I have tried parking myself in public for a couple of days with no bites, and even asking on channel doesn't generally yield many responses. I have taken to poking some folks randomly and made some small progress that way, but it sure is a steep slope.
