    • RE: Good TV

      I just finished the first season of Abbot Elementary on Netflix.

      I can totally understand why teachers watched one episode and had a serious spectrum of emotions.

      The emotions went from, "Fuck off, I'm insulted," to "That was amazing and I need more right now."

      I'm in the middle. I really did enjoy it for its entertainment value. It hit reaaallllllyyyy close at some points though. Everything was pretty exaggerated from the "norm" but not to the point where it hasn't happened somewhere and for some reason.

      I connected pretty hard core with most of the main characters in one way or another.

      So yeah, I recommend it. But totally okay if it's a 'yeah no' for people too.

      Change is scary AF. It's always a balance between what you deserve and the amount of risk you can take.

      Zero judgement if you choose to stay.

      Zero judgement if you choose to leave.

      I hate state testing~~

      I hate giving it.

      I hate talking about it.

      Everything about it is terrible.

      But we're doing good getting make ups and such finished, so hopefully the children will all be back at least one day between now and Tuesday so we can go back to "normal".

    • RE: RL Sads

      My parents and youngest sister just got evacuated due to a fire near their home. I know it is out of an abundance of caution (after the Marshall fire last December no one in Colorado is fucking around) but still nerve wracking. Doing my best to sit and wait calmly.

      Edit: They are safe and back home. It really was just out of an abundance of caution.

      Oh, okay. Pause the party.

      Party pause

      @Tinuviel

      Because despite the fire dumpster, we value this place and want the best for it.

      @too-old-for-this

      It doesn't feel like wood in the least but gdi, it feels CLEAN. I vacuumed after the guys left (I have different clean standards than most guys, example, my husband didn't notice all the dust...) and knew it was ALL UP.

      My Calypso and Kiva were able to go upstairs for the first time in months and I knew they weren't tracking ringworm fibers back down with them. ❤ ❤

      Our floors are (mostly, order error = job on pause till more parts in) in and it looks AMAZING.

      Now I want to rip up the floors downstairs and replace them so everything matches!

      @tek

      We have a medication from the shelter that is suppose to be the good standard, and then are using Monistat 7 for when we popped with it. (Cuz we both have... it is what happens when you share a bed with a kitty you don't realize is infected because she didn't get it where her fur was thin like all the others but instead hidden on her backside...)

    • RE: Critters!

      Ringworm is still alive in my house, but now it is limited to one kitty who is isolated upstairs. This is good because though the most random twist of fate our two ringworm fosters are going to their forever home Thursday!!

      It is super bittersweet because we have fallen head over heels in love with both of them, as has our baby Calypso. We made the hard decision to let them go because in the end we know they will get more one on one attention from their new parents, and it will help our isolated-since-January baby reenter the rest of the household without unfamiliar cats

      Oh it has been done in many places. It is just that if the prompts aren't updated then it gets stale and less used over time.

      @arkandel said in MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't):

      @betternow said in MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't):

      Or, GMs could not be the only source of plot and let players run their own stuff, make up their own cases to run for others, come up with their own NPC patients with X or Y illness for PCs to solve, etc. Then GMS only have to focus on big, world-changing stuff

      In most MU* I used to play this was pretty much the default. In some of the sandbox ones it was really the only option other than when staff ran very occasional scenes.

      Unless something has changed, the truth of the matter is the majority of players want to participate but not run plot. It's not really a matter of whether they are permitted to; in fact unless there are generous reward systems encouraging them to do so, it tends to not happen outside small groups of players running scenes for each other.

      @Ganymede @mietze

      I wonder, would this conversation about running plots (starting roughly at the above post 3 pushes back) and such be better off in the thread called GMs and players? We have strayed from wistful mu- ness.

      Never mind. There is no point.

      Back to constructive: I always loved when there was a pot of random ideas I could roll until something struck me. The only problem was that when a system was put in place it wasn't always updated so the ideas eventually got stale.

    • RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff

      Def YMMV - I MUCH prefer to see the cat litter and know that I am getting it up.

      I also don't use a broom any more. I have a hardwood vacuum and a swiffer.

      Knowing my space is clean is my #1 priority over any extra effort it causes me. This was not always the case!! But this ringworm outbreak had completely changed my priorities.

      First world upper middle class thing:

      I cannot wait for our carpets to be replaced with vinyl plank. (As soon as Saturday or as late as the global supply chain issues.) I bought a new pet hair removal thingie on a whim and I swiped it across an arms length section of carpet I HAD JUST VACUUMED YESTERDAY. The amount of hair it picked up made me want to throw up.

      Once these new floors are in the hair won't be able to camouflage in the carpet any more. It will be at the mercy of my swiffer and vacuum. I WILL BE THE MASTER OF HAIR IN MY HOME.

    • RE: The Work Thread

      I just realized that it is probably not a sign of a healthy work environment to obsessively check the jobs board to see who has officially resigned for next year. Like, we all KNOW who is quitting, but when will they do the formal paperwork for HR to post the opening.
