      How do the players actually RP through any of this, without any details? How many times can they RP through that kind of thing with that level of abstraction?

      This is something I'm running into right now. I have an idea I REALLY want to do... but it's pretty boring to RP, simply because of all of the abstractions involved. My character really loves money, numbers, and trade, but without tangible x to y, I'm not sure how to really do something with it that'll excite others to join me.

      When someone poses something random, and then someone else poses back at that random, and then it snowballs quickly out of control but it's funny and amazing and wonderful.

      It always feels so melodramatic to think of or call something I am dealing with 'suffering'.

      It is absolutely suffering, period, end of story. @Auspice and everyone else are 100% right on this.

      @wretched

      There is so much second guessing that goes on. I've gotten to the point with this person where I won't respond to anything they do right away, and sometimes I'll copy a conversation to a friend and ask them to tell me what their impression is. I can't always trust that I'm going to be impartial.

      Since I'm super high anxiety + sensitive it means I spend a lot of time going, "Oh god, it's me again isn't it? DON'T LET ANYONE SEE."

      There's nothing I can do OOCly since they aren't breaking any rules, and I do love everyone else on the channel. I don't want to separate myself from that circle like turning off my channels always would cause.

      I have decided to avoid this other person ICly. That means sometimes that I avoid things that I honestly enjoy though, and I'm always really sad in those cases. I've also had to jerk my character's brain a lot to fill in the void this IC person left. It hasn't been super fun.

      @mietze said in Learning how to apply appropriate boundaries:

      I would say making a big ooc deal about annoyance issues rather than truly deep discomfort ones can be a boundary violation in itself, so I understand the caution.

      I think this is where I always stumble, and I've never been able to figure out where I fall on it. There's an issue on one of my games where there's someone I simply can't stand. But I can't think of any game rules they're breaking - or even bending.

      So even though they make me really uncomfortable to the point where I turn off channels/log off to get away from them... they aren't doing anything wrong.

      In the end I usually err on the side of not doing anything and praying they go away before I reach my limit. Which... isn't helpful, but they're not doing anything wrong, you know?

      Ohoh,

      I also love failing rolls. The Moos I played didn't have this (the only exception I ever encountered being Ansible's Battle Room, but even then, it was more a "missed shot" or some such.) and there was always the temptation to just be amazing always.

      Now when I feel that temptation I do a roll and then act out the roll. The failing ones lead to wonderfully funny poses.
