      @mietze & @Duntada

      I used to be a CNA in a nursing home, where often the women and men both would douse themselves in whatever cologne or perfume they had available to cover up the smell of ... to be frank, shit and piss. It wasn't pleasant for them, I'm sure, but it was understandable that they did it. Still, I felt a little bad for feeling a bit sick at the scent of floral explosion. When I got transferred to the Alzheimer's wing, this opposite was in effect.

      When I worked as a social worker, I didn't really encounter much in the way of men or women dousing themselves with some sort of scent. However, the younger crowd (I worked as a child advocate attached to the Department of Justice's child support program) that came in with their disputes seemed to always have that 18-20 year old dude who was a walking Axe scent billboard at least once a day.

      It's important to be at your freshest when you're fighting against the widespread systematic abuse of power intrinsic to large governmental systems. No one seems to get this.

      Edit to add: I'm too old to be an anarchist anymore. The best I can do now is flee into the woods, grow a beard, and become an existentialist.

      Well, @Duntada, I also live in California. And as five wise men, also from California (Compton!) once said: fuck the [California Department of Water Resources].

      Slightly paraphrased.

      @Miss-Demeanor Yeah, I don't quite understand that either. Basic hygiene seems like it should just be a thing everyone does. Maybe I'm just really anal about it, but I tend to shower multiple times a day, especially if I'm working out or something sweat-inducing. That's another thing that kind of bothers me, the people that go to the gym or go running and just smell like that awful human stench all day. It's not even BO, it's just that stale, stank skin smell. 😐

      What about a Changeling game where a whole Freehold has to flee. Like, they're all members of this big Freehold in Sydney, Australia, and they have to jump ship because of these crazy Privateers and Loyalists coming in and killing a bunch of them there. But everyone's got some secret reason to leave Sydney anyway. But they all wind up on the same plane. Anyway, the pilot realizes they have to turn back and get off course, then the plane crash lands on an island of mysterious mystery, where there's a monster made out - stick with me here - smoke. And then there's all of this other insane stuff that goes on, like polar bears.

      But then it just turns out that it was someone using Contracts of Dream while in the airplane and they all crashed and died at the end?

      It could just be called Changeling: The

      I don't know. It confuses the hell out of me. Especially like a hole in your ear that, if you don't wash it, smells literally like bad cheese.

      An open letter:

      Being someone who also has plugs, I think you should be required to sign a waver stating that you will regularly clean your jewelry and flesh tunnels because, guy in the Moreno Valley Whole Foods, the last thing I want to do while I'm shopping is smell your human gouda. We're in this together. ❤

      For as long as there are Poochinksi elements, I am in.

      @secretfire

      I know a bunch of folks who've quit MU*ing who would probably be all over a Requiem for Rome game if it got made. The main issue I've seen with WoD games (either traditional WoD or CoD) set in a different time period is they usually have a novelty effect for about a month or two, then people start to flake off of them in favor of Generic City By Night. However, I agree with you. I've had about four character concepts pop into my head with the mention of those time periods. It'd be great to play out; the issue would be trying to gather players for a somewhat niche setting.

      What I figure is that the amount of research that goes into a character on a modern nights game would be greatly enhanced if it were set back in - say Trinidad during the Golden Age of Piracy. Depending on the level of realism you want, a potential player might have to research famous figures from the era, what might have brought you there, why you have any interest in being there at all, etc., which is generally a tall order from someone that just wants to get on the grid and buckle their swashes. That being said, I'll reiterate that I agree with you and would love to see something in a non-traditional era.

      My post-holocaust world is a Mad Max meets Bladerunner with lots of PH elements from the 70s SF writers (Harlan Ellison in particular!) and old-style TT games (Aftermath and Morrow Project).

      Would play if made. A++++++

      Thank you for saying so! And yeah, my own recovery was due to my wife. I did the same thing you described, actually, subbing out one substance for another by winding up an alcoholic. The five years was for complete sobriety altogether. She's still got quite a long road to travel, and - at least in my experience - it's not something that seems to really be completed. Anyway, thank you for the kind words. 🙂

      My niece just hit six months in recovery and finally feels like she doesn't need methadone. Having gone through it myself (five years last December), she's definitely shown that she understands she doesn't need it anymore. Plus, she's got a new girlfriend and is going to school, so her priorities have shifted entirely. It's great and I'm so proud of her.

      If I had time to create a MU*, I've got an idea for an original horror setting. Unfortunately, I'm not sure when I'll actually have time to do anything that labor-intensive.
