    • RE: Miami, Blood in the Water

We’ve discussed this for months, since the beginning of February. It was never a personal XP cutting mission; people have always been able to take their living characters.

We will have tiers, influence, and lump sum XP. We will have theme and mood pages for each sphere, and we will be adding Skinchangers.

I did want to toss the possibility of discussion out at people because I want to make this new game on its own merits; revenge games never work and it was never our aim to make one.

I’ll do some more work with the wonderful people who accepted and then we will come back and show it here.

Also please explain to me how I’m stealing a game from someone who is helping me code mine. This is so confusing.

I also want to say that I disappeared for months because I might have a brain tumor. I was hoping to get a little bit of support and help, I didn’t come here to ask for anyone to do the work for us. We’re ready to collaborate.

Oh man guys! I’m just asking for help, I’m not panicking. I was remembering all of the good times we had on the old game and I’d like to recreate them. That’s all.

"But it's what my character would do" can be a slippery one to contend with as well.

Who knows Mage the Awakening and is interested in setting up a new sphere with a rich setting? You must have knowledge of the game and be able to closely collaborate with other people. Staffing mileage may vary.

All I want for Christmas is a lovely goon squad of pastel suited, sunglassified and coked and/or otherwise drugged to their gills Cheiron people to roll into town with. Effiepper will have a fantastic time in Miami. 😄

      @Royal -- I found a perfect concept for you.

Nah, we're not going to do full 2E. The things I want aren't out and I'm old and stuck in my ways at this point; perhaps next time!

Next time you'll be even older.

      I'll probably be DEAD.

Have there been any substantive discussions about transitioning fully to 2E?

We've cleaned up a ton of DB and wiki bloat. We had an ungodly amount of pointless backups taking up lots of space.

      On the New Game front:

We're taking a more proactive approach this time and being transparent with the game creation process by getting players involved and our excitement level is off the charts. I am really interested in setting ideas especially; we're having a grand old time on the game right now brain storming on the Game Development channel.

I just want people to feel invested and like they helped to build something. Come join if you're intrigued; we're trying to poke our heads outside of the box and have fun.

      Thanks for reading.

Out of curiosity, what are some of the better ideas? Are you still basing things in Miami or is that still up in the air?

We're still feeling Miami! We want mandatory high speed boat chases weekly. Also, for example we have an idea for players to be able to affect the grid by influencing it for die bonuses and minuses. Put a few of your drug dealers in the area and give your gridsquare +2 to buying Cocaine (this is a silly example but an example).

We're in some early brainstormy phases where we're figuring stuff out and taking notes. I know we want spooky and seedy. I want to do a pretty big theme with The Missing; I would love to have a huge missing persons issue in Miami.

Anyway I'm super shy about talking about my ideas here for some reason so I'm sorry if they seem vague or dorky~

      Hey!

I recently got into Podcasts. I listen to The Daily, Up First, Stuff You Missed in History Class, Atlanta Monster, and Slowburn to name a few.

American History Tellers is also amazing. What are some of your favorites?

      I also suggest Sawbones!

Yeah, that's why I left external customer support. I work internally now running an IT Help Desk and I have and will attach call recordings to e-mails and send them to peoples' bosses for this kind of shit.

I really hope you find something soon, dude! I suggest dice.com -- see if there are any good jobs on there.

So the other week I dealt with a 'feedback' email from a user that was just laden with abusive language and profanity. I basically said: 'We appreciate your feedback if not the abusive language it was delivered in.'

Got chewed out for doing so and told 'Saying that isn't needed. Just thank them for the feedback.'

Fuck that noise. Part of being a team lead is going to bat for my team and I know it bothers some of them when they get abusive language and threats, even in an email. I was actually downright polite. I've shut people down in the past and told them we'll gladly assist them when they can be polite about their request.

I fucking hate when companies are OK with their front line agents being treated like shit.

As someone who has to deal with this shit and who supervises the people being abused, FUCK THAT. The customer is not always right and that shit should never ever be rewarded. It feels really bad when you get abused at work and your bosses tell you to suck it up.

      Fuck that.
