    • Historical MU*s

I've been wondering whether there are new Historical MU*s hanging around there or maybe someone willing to put a project forward should he find any support from the community. Recently I've found and joined Grimwood MUSH, which is set in the Wild West, it's a very small place, but both the staff and players I've encountered have proportioned great RP and I look forward to spend more time with them.

Is there any other historical MU*s active or starting out there? Also, is Chicago MUSH down? Their website seems full of spam nowadays.

    • 7th Sea 2nd Edition

      Hey guys!

I've been wondering if any of you got the chance to read the 7th Sea preview yet, the system looks much simpler than the original version, unfortunately John Wick has chosen to relinquish the R&K system for a more "WoD" approach. The magic system has also been reworked and everything seems like it would be much easier to implement in a MU* game.

Also, the Sarmatia Commonwealth will certainly please some The Witcher fans.

    • RE: White House/Political MUX

I once played an online campaign where each player started as the leader of a party a few weeks before elections for the congress of a fictional European principality, this allowed us to have parties that advocated for Republicanism or to mantain the Prince as the Chief of State. I personally went with a moderate Libertarian party and I was managing to get some attention from the media. Sadly, it went downhill when some guy decided that he wanted to create a nazi party and the admins allowed it.

Sorcery is supposed to be rare and often people who show the ability are quickly fostered by older mages, so maybe you could have them buy an advantage that is expensive by itself and have magic cost way more XP/points to improve.

Specialization sounds good, giving a more unique feel to some characters. As for the setting, I would still go with Novigrad, it has Oxenfurt on its backyard, which could serve well for the more scholar types. But I totally want to make my own Nilfgaardian ambassador :3

      Spoilers incoming!

The Climate Change (tm) was actually the White Frost, and depending on how the Witcher 3 ends... its beaten.

And I believe the end of the Witcher 1 has Geralt retreaving those Mutagens, the Witcher 3 also shows they still know how to brew some of the potions necessary to make someone a Witcher, so the knowledge is not completely lost.

Haha, I haven't finished the W3 game yet, but it's good to know they are picking more and more things from the books, I just loved when Keira appeared. Anyway, in my GURPS game, the witchers could turn new people into them, but since they had lost part of the secrets, the mortality rate was even higher and they weren't so powerful (this helped leveling the campaign as @Sammi suggests).

    • RE: Witcher MUSH Brainstorm (SPOILERS)

Big fan of the book/games series here. I think a Witcher MUSH could work with a setting linked to a big city, like Novigrad (this one would certainly be my pick), Wyzim or Cintra. According to the canon, there's some climate change coming, but it's up to you whether to handwave that or explain it with your own ideas.

Also, there's an issue with the Witcher schools being nearly wiped out and unable to grow their numbers again since they lost part of the secret mutagens, especially the Wolf and Snake (to a point, the Snake was nothing but a myth until Letho came up and proved us wrong :P)

I've also GM'ed a Witcher game using GURPS and it worked wonderfully, unfortunately you can't use it for a MU* game because SJG is a pain in the ass, but .you can certainly create/find some other modular system, which helps creating monsters/mutants/new races.

For one, the man's an old D&D player.

And a GURPS one too, it makes me wonder how a GURPS ASOIAF MUSH would look like, probably wonderful.

I still have to get my own hands into some of the stuff published by WoTC, maybe there's something worthwile, like the Midnight Archipelago.

I've been talking with @bored about someone who has some code, maybe he meant you? From what I see of yours, it should be okay for a 'alpha' version, just needing other parts of the system, like ship sheets (which might just be replaced with an NPC bit) and income code.

      You're not alone.

I wonder if Bethesda will implement vehicles in this game, I always imagined how cool it would be to have my char roaming the wastelands in a bike when I played FO3 and NV.

    • Seeking staff for a 7th Sea project

As I've said in my other post in 'A Shout in the Dark':

      @sthanheykel said:

I've created this google group in order to discuss about a possible game and gather a real staff. If anyone feel like contributing, just join it and hopefully we'll have a working game in a few months.

I'm in need of people capable of making this a real game, anyone who is a bit more experience with coding, some people willing to ST or just wanting to give some help is more than welcome. Also, if you have any suggestions or inquires about the project, feel free to ask.

Thanks for replying, the main reason for using the adaptation was that I'm kinda code ignorant, so I need at least a starting point or an easier way to do it. But yeah, the original system suits the theme much better, it is by far the best system I've ever played for a swashbuckling game.

However, if I can get someone more experienced with coding or a portable code of a 7th Sea game, that would probably be the perfect solution for it.

    • RE: Star Trek games?

I think 4:1 should be the best time ratio, when dealing with promotions. In a 3 year game, your character would have aged 12 years, which (considering the TiG of US Navy) is enough to take someone from an Ensign to a Lieutenant Commander on his way to become a full Commander.

Is he still around? I've recently run a RL campaign using the 'Legend of 7th Sea' which adapts 7th Sea to the 4th edition of AEG's roll and keep system and I believe with a minor tweaks (you just need to change a few names, add a couple of skills and voila, there is your Castillan pirate) a 7th Sea MU* would be possible.
