@ghost For what it's worth, they blocked it a long time ago. Probably near a decade by now. So it's worth factoring that in re: what other things might have been available to people otherwise at the time. Ads for VPNs and such are everywhere these days -- even in actual TV commercials and whatnot -- which was definitely not the lay of the land then.

@ghost It was so commonly used on Shang people flipped their shit when it was blocked in large numbers. Apparently, a lot of people use it default for MU*.

@arkandel In all fairness, dude mentioned a dislike for anonymizers for pass through logins to the server and whatnot earlier. It's not much of a stretch to extend that distaste to something like a 'there and gone again' email setup that's similar. If someone feels something is shady when looking at it from the admin side, I'd like to think they would be less likely to use those options as a player, too.

I'm not real fond of the pass through servers like this either, for the same 'even if this person is not up to something shady like evading alt limits or similar, they feel unsafe enough here to take this step' and I wouldn't want either on the game. (Needless paranoia is needless* and can also create a lot of trouble in a different way, if the people running a place aren't email spamming people.)

I don't care as much about the email accounts, since they're primarily for password retrieval and the wiki, and ultimately, someone using a there-and-gone is only shooting themselves in the foot, as I'm not inclined to hoop-jump for them to work around that past a certain reasonable extent.

• I'm not real worried on this front personally. The email used for BITN's wiki email sender is the same one I set up for the game I was going to set up around the same time (in short: we knew it worked and it's a pain in the ass to set up), and nobody's been stalked or spammed through it, so I have something I can clearly point to to say: y'all don't need to worry about that with me (if I ever do a thing).

ETA: tl;dr: If I can trust you to not wreck a wiki I spent a year or more building, and a game that probably took longer than that, you can trust me with a throwaway gmail account made for that game you're only going to bother logging into if you need to reset a password.

I'm more closed-mouthed on games than I am here, mostly because there are more spaces here for discussing random life things in specific. Game OOC room/channel convos tend to focus on the same subjects, but there's usually one conversation going on at any given time and unlike here. There's no real picking and choosing, so, for example, 'I'm not interested in video games, so I'm not going to read that thread' works here, if people are talking video games, that's usually the only topic option, so I won't be engaging with it. Here, there's usually something worth chatting about in another thread if not that one, so more information is likely to come out, because there are a variety of spaces where it's possible for it to come up on a consistent basis.

Even beyond that, as MSB is in the 'WORA chain', even if it's different in tone, and this is a group I have generally engaged with for almost two decades now, even if some names come and go. I have not been on any game that long, but if I had, I'm relatively sure plenty of folks on said game would know just as much as y'all do.

I'm in the same position with @Roz re: my first name is middling rare and my last name is fairly rare*, and I'm probably the only person on earth with my full name.

Random things, even if they're fairly personal, are not a huge deal if they aren't identifiable:
"I'm bi" <-- no big deal; a list of women I've been involved with, no (for the 'other people's privacy' reason even more than mine, frankly).
"My RL address is so weird and nebulous-sounding people think it's fake and the post office messes it up all the time" <-- no big deal, what that address is (even if it would verify that assertion and be worth a laugh?), no.
And so on.

• Though not as rare in certain regions than one would think, for instance there's a pile of us in my area so much that I constantly get asked if I'm related to X and I don't even know because other than my parents specifically, everybody seemingly bred like rabbits in their generation as well. My grandfather had eleven siblings in his family, and they all came here and settled in this area... and all of them but him tended to have PILES of kids. Oodles of us in a roughly 100 mile radius.

...sadly very few of the options really worked for what we aim to do if we ever have like, a wedding wedding. And there was no option for 'fuck it, we're going to the justice of the peace, is everyone wearing pants? OK, good, let's go.'

If that's your reaction to antibiotics, definitely do it. Usually, antibiotics make everyone I know exhausted as fuck and feels crappy and breaks out like a teenager while their body fights off whatever they're given the antibiotics for. (Thankfully, I never got the 'bonus' yeast infection, but that's super common, too.)

I have the same problem re: Papa John's. Though it isn't so much them, as that one location. They must store their boxes with cleaning supplies, because so help me gods, if you open a box, you don't smell pizza, you smell chemicals and pine sol strong enough to drop you. Instant nausea. I can't even be near one of the boxes without choking, it's so bad.

Other locations I've not had this issue... but they won't let you order from anything BUT your closest location online, or you couldn't last I checked. We try every couple of years since they have some stuff we liked (like the spinach-chicken-bacon alfredo pizza, mmmmmmm), but keep running into the same problem every time.

If we're out of town? Awesome. If we're where we live? FML, and fuck you, Papa John's.

We also send a collective GrumpyCat face at Pizza Hut for getting rid of some of their crust options. I liked the pretzel one.

I know this won't be an 80s game. But all of this is why I still want one some day.

If there's an Eternal from the 80s who thinks she's Cyndi Lauper or 80s Madonna wardrobe-wise, tripping over her feet and completely incapable of getting laid if her life depended on it, that will doubtless be me. (Note to self: Molly Ringwald must be the PB... )

(Also requesting a 'thinks that's dancing and it's not' flaw. Just because of this gif. Like... 'Not Smooth'. For the people who think they're hot, but are just... not, and are the only one blissfully unaware of this. I would take it in a heartbeat I swear I would, and it'd be a blast.)
