      Welllll...... that's basically DFRPG 😉

You shut your mouth! DFRPG is a proper Urban Fantasy game.

    • RE: General Video Game Thread

      Recently played:

      • Hiveswap (Act 1): Pretty good for $8. Amusing and good music. You don't need to know Homestuck to play this, and it isn't filled with fan service to people who do.
      • Tooth & Tail: Here's a game that has an amazingly deep setting, but damn I cannot play this well. I would love to play something this disturbing as a Mu*.
      • Danganropa V3 (demo): Use a controller. Probably not a good place to start the Danganropa series, but the first game is usually on sale. It's more like a visual novel with puzzles, but not always trivial puzzles.
      • Tokyo Dark: Not as deep as I was hoping. I Kickstarted this.
      • Cupid - Visual Novel (free on itch.io😞 Ho. Lee. Shit. This is disturbing and dark and as a visual novel its ending didn't lead me on like many do. I played as cruel as I could to the protagonist and I was not disappointed.

What bridges all of these? Amazing story or world. One point-n-click adventure, one RTS, essentially three visual novels. Yeah, I like me some story.

      Can she?!

      Yes.

Well probably, but as long as you do it the way the game is intended.

      @Bobotron

Well here's what I both love and hate about Changeling:

      • You have been put in a situation where you have absolutely no control.
      • You have regained enough control to escape.
      • You have a built-in support group that has one foot in the real world and one foot in the world that abused them.

      Characters and situations write themselves.

What World of Darkness is (and always has been) particularly bad about, though, is they set up these situations and effectively make the characters superhero in relative power level and power variety and doesn't match the system to the theme they're trying to invoke.

This is kind of a known issue with most "do whatever you want" game systems. Eclipse Phase is amazing at escaping it and drenching every part of the system in the theme it wants. It's not my kind of system, but I appreciate it for what it does.

Anyhow, that Changeling attracts abuse addicts is about as surprising as Werewolf attracting steroid freaks or Vampire attracting control freaks or Mage attracting rules lawyers, etc. etc. It's another issue of not wanting to associate with a group because of the most negative of its fanbase.

Sometimes ya just gotta latch on and ignore the negativity because you're having fun.

      --

addendum: I think the Chronicles of Darkness line is genuinely trying to resolve this. Mage is no longer a rules lawyer's wet dream, and I'm hoping Changeling does the same thing tho from what I've seen so far it looks kind of gentrified (no pun intended) and bland.

      --

I lied; some pun was intended.

A lot of people also have problems with people playing Changeling as 'abuse victim: the RPG'.

Ngh. No kidding. I personally find it easier to ignore than "Vampire: Lol Mind Powerz FU!!!", but to each their own.

The problem is with... well, my brain. A lot of my code issues are my not being detailed enough. I was missing '--with-mysql-include' in the original directions.

I seem to have it working with:

      ./configure --enable-stubslave --with-mysql-include=/usr/bin/mysql
      --with-mysql-libs=/usr/include/mysql --with-mysql-include=/usr/include/mysql
      --enable-inlinesql --enable-realitylvls

Is it a MacBook power cord? Because if so, I'm sorry.

      It is absolutely a Macbook power cord. 😞 😞 😞 😞

      ... I'm so sorry.

If you have one that's for a larger Mac, it will work. If you have one for an older Mac, it will also work with a $11 adapter assuming you don't have one of the newer Thunderbolt 3 Macs. If you do you're in luck, because those cables are around $12.

Do not, DO NOT buy third-party unless you're still under warrantee. The parade of melted power bricks and damaged computers show that it is not worth it.

OEM should be about $10 less. Look also for 'open box'. Hell, trampled on by an elephant would be fine if it's the Apple-made adapter.

@SG I... have actually considered this. I decided against it in the end, but I did consider it, because I thought it would be a fun test (and then realized that it would be a nightmare to play, and would probably give @faraday hives at a distance to see FS3 being used for hard social combat).

Fate’s Harvest, a Changeling and Thaum/Psychic game, nWoD’s GMC additions. (Not CoD. Because there is no Changeling for CoD).

I don't care if you got approved with some retarded shit on your sheet. Staff shouldn't be afraid to go 'no, you can not drop a truck on Jane while sitting in your apartment'. And players should grow the fuck up and realize that's a pretty reasonable stance.

More accurately, staff shouldn't be afraid to backpedal when something's broken.

We should be calling this "fixing it".

      @Ghost

I’ve been told before that you simply don’t do things like that on superhero games. The system may make it possible, but it breaks the theme of ... well, the entire superhero genre if you use your powers to do things like that.

Wild Talents straight up says “don’t do that”. You can do that. One game (maybe also Wild Talents) creates a system where losing your hero focus means increased negative effects.
