I think you mean the nWoD version of The Computer, the fusion of AI and spirit in Autochthonia that ran Iteration-X's shit until they wised up after Revised. >_>

I was burnt out on WoD by the time Revised came out. I understand some stuff happened then they killed the entire line with fire, so sure, why not.

    • RE: The State of the Chronicles of Darkness

I was pointed at the latest Fairest write-up.

I was, frankly, disappointed. I hope to be wrong, and I expect to be wrong, but I'm seeing it saying things like, "People flock to you to be the leader," as a truism for choosing the character. We've been through this before in oChangeling with Sidhe, and it does not go well.

I will have to go through tOP's first-fraft Fairest discussion thread.

    • RE: What is your God-Machine

My God-Machine is the nWoD version of Iteration-X, a machine that infests itself throughout folds of reality that is so extensive that it doesn't always know what other parts are doing, slow to act but complete in its implementation. My modern-day version of the G-M would be based on the fears of computers taking over the world from the better 1960s sci-fi movies. Its intelligence is so large that it can't help but be alien and bordering on a force of nature rather than a super-human intelligence.

I like to believe that it was originally conceived as something meant to help and then forgotten. Something not born of human sacrifice and maliciousness, but as tool. For some reason, I want to blame the Ancient Greeks for it, but would be just as happy to blame the Ancient Sumerians or Ancient Other People Whom We Don't Give As Much Credit As They Are Due. I don't think it matters, in the sense that even if an answer was given it wouldn't help one iota to deal with it.

Does the God-Machine cull overpopulated Kindred by repurposing them and creating VII? Did a rogue Occult Matrix on the Moon birth the Idigam? Do the various occult matrices exist to generate enough Mana to maintain a a forced link to the Supernal?

No, no, and no. My God-Machine is more reactionary than that, and I don't like the idea that you could tie all WoD to the God-Machine any more than the metaphysics of the Mages. I want my World of Darkness to be iteratively complex, that for all the strangeness in the world it can keep getting stranger, that it's turtles all the way down.

It is extremely important that you know what I'm doing, because if I don't tell you I get barked at and begged for treats.

If I do tell you, you get confused and run off for the ball.

I mean, either way is good. Who's a good girl? Who's a good girl? You are!

I usually just go to the end (last reply) and scroll backwards. It's not perfect, but it works well enough for me, as long as I keep up.

then the privileged class is going to have to stop basing their privilege on those days, too.

How would anyone even go about doing that?

Pretty much my point, i.e., it isn't going to happen.

      I'm starting with me.

      Yes, @Coin is.

We're in the home stretch, character generation is as done as it's going to get for open, with massive thanks to @Arkandel for screwing up enough that I could find the parts I missed. (For the needy, I am developing the Eldritch House Rules character generation separately from by-the-book.)

I need to fix some screwiness with notes, put in Totem Aspirations, and some XP stuff that will be nice to have.

Oh yeah, and ... shift. Sigh. I may just dig up Darkwater's shift code and call it a day.

He talks down to everybody. Why are you singling out the blacks? Are you racist?

This reminds me of the joke most likely to get me downvoted:

If I were the new Hitler, I would kill all the Jews, and one clown.
      (response: Why the clown?)

That choice -- need vs. conscience -- is a feature, not a bug.

... What? Changelings don't need to manipulate anyone to get their fix. It's a moral choice. It's no different, no different, than the choice to use Intimidation or Seduction to get your way. Changeling may get power points and someone's cell phone number as a bonus, but that is—as you say—a feature, not a bug.

I really think you don't know how Changeling works, nor have you made your case that Changeling is a bad game to have on a Mu*. The only case you've made is that someone touched you wrong, once, and they played a Changeling at the time. How we treat each other as players can be horrible. It can. It is, however, an entirely different issue.

I mean, hell, do Vampires (nWoD, not nWoD2) have to roll for a Humanity Sin whenever they use Dominate? Let me check.

      ...

Nope. They don't even need to do so just to feed, depending on how they feed. Changelings must be special in this because ...? I've got nothing.

Changeling as it is written and as the book encourages you to play it is in line with World of Darkness. I'm sorry that you're having emotional problems with this, but that's all you. The book doesn't hide this. If you want to harp on the book not being clear enough about its abusive theme, I gave it to you with the Child Abuse angle, but that's been hammered so many times so often and, again, you must opt in to this.

Have you considered either re-thinking your thoughts or, maybe, not posting as if you are making trusims? I know what you didn't say, by the way, but you didn't say some things pretty loud up there.
