I like a lot about the show. What they're doing with Dorne is a travesty though - the writers' only chance for redemption in that regard is if they are aware of the fact, and they're leading things to a meltdown there. I can't tell if they think we should be fist-pumping for the Sand Snakes or what.
So so bad. I hope Alexander Siddig got paid massive bank for his cameo. None of the Dorne plot makes any sense (if anything the premier made things worse in that regard) and I suspect they're going to keep on keeping on with it, sigh.
Also really looking forward to Preacher, if only to see how they realize it.
LOL same, as to the upvotes.
I'm glad the umm questions to that troll have aged well, even as the troll is hopefully gone.
I guess they don't call a guy the Sword of the Morning because he isn't a goddamn badass.
All I could think of while watching that scene was all the GoT MUSH PCs I'd made fun of for trying to be cool by having TWO BROADSWORDS!!!111ONEONEELEVEN.
I guess I can't do that anymore now that the show's enabling them.

@LWhiskey My guess is @Caractus is a fascist trying to make anti-racist movements look bad. It's a common tactic of the far-right.
I mean, my own guess is that he's the 4chan troll back again like, though in that case this all still applies.

And while talented people make good films in any genre people will show up to watch them.
I'd quibble with this. I think there's a genuine issue in the marketplace right now with studio over-reliance on a couple big tent-poles a year and a lack of medium-budget movies (could you make something like Shawshank Redemption today as a non-indie? I kind of doubt it). This is a more complicated issue than "superhero fatigue," though, and those movies are just part of the landscape to me, not the actual problem. Whatever criticisms one might have of Marvel right now, they're making an effort to do good-quality narrative stuff.
You could just make the senior officers NPCs and have people primarily play like Ensigns - LTs.
I think the model that worked on a lot of BSG games could work for a Star Trek MU reasonably well.
I got to 20k steps on my Fitbit for the first time ever last week largely because of this dumb game. I feel both accomplished and vaguely ashamed at the amount of time I'm dumping into the thing.
I appreciate many things about Ares but the ability to: spill beer on my modem / panic and restart/unplug everything / pose on my phone without missing a beat as things restart, is a treasure.
This is something you should document. In some way that time stamps the phone calls if you can, in writing in your own words if not. If there are messages where the douchebag actually says your job is in jeopardy because you used a sick day, make a copy of that thing and put it in a vault somewhere, because that's gold (literal gold in a wrongful termination suit). This is an actionable complaint that brushes up against FMLA protections that you can take to HR, and your manager will get in deep shit. Your sick time, so long as the company gives you sick days, is your sick time.
I realize actually doing this is not as simple as all that, since managers and even smaller companies will make an employee's life hell if they actually exercise their rights as workers. So I'm not exactly saying complain. But document and keep, because it'll probably happen again in a circumstance where letting it go isn't an option.
I can function either way but the dork in me loves seeing how all my dice rolls came out. THE NUMBERS. THE NUMBERS BETRAYING ME. It's fascinating.
I have all the
in the world for Brooklyn 9-9. It's my go-to decompresser show after a long day at the moment. Also, Gina is my spirit animal.
I remember when an app of mine on Arx got lost in the void because I'd fat-fingered my email. My assumption is stuff like that's pretty common with anything where you need to provide an email and a 2-minute conversation with staff confirmed what had happened and got me login info.

Pick a deadline. If you go through with this - and I have done this and hated myself, and I have done this and gained amazing and wonderful friends from it so I totally think it's worth it - you will be highly invested in someone you hardly know. Pick a date by which they should either be kicking back some money to you, or moved out. Or say - we'll re-evaluate the situation monthly, and if we decide it isn't working out, you'll have one month to find a new situation or right the one we have.
Yeah, this right here.
A friend of mine once let a person she met on MySpace (yes, that long ago) crash a her place after he flunked out of uni and subsequently lost a means to house himself. This was supposed to be a temporary arrangement.
It lasted three years.
He never got a job or made meaningful financial contributions. She was not making a ton of money, and an extra person living with you adds up in large and small ways.
He did not ever 'leave,' really. She got a job in a new city and moved, which was the only thing that forced him to seek out another arrangement.
This is not a horror story. He was not a murderer and was a nice enough person, which is why she never had the heart to kick him out.
But set a deadline.

If all you're doing is showing up for Events, then I'm unlikely to want to interact with you during events, too.
Yeah, it is so weird to RP with a person in a PrP I've never interacted with outside events. I'll do it but no way it is a better way to meet people than a random bar, it's just jarring.

I am listening to 1999 RIGHT THE FUCK NOW without being shackled to my ITunes library. It's making me so damn happy. The world, it is my oyster.

@ominous You say "Mandate of Heaven" and my brain goes to a 20 year old Video Game "Might and Magic 6: The Mandate of Heaven." ... and now I have to find it somewhere, download it, and play it.
GoG has versions of all those games that run quite well! They are one of my mindless blisses, though I'm more for the Heroes series because I relax via base building mechanics.

Is there a reason you aren't in the political section of the board?I am almost certain this is one of our neighborhood trolls trying to rustle jimmies.
Oh, yeah, it's obviously a 4chan troll. But...there is another forum where they could be trolling with the politics stuff. They can troll with other stuff here until they're banned that isn't endless Trumpisms.
I would probably never do a purely pay a pay-for-play game. It's the reason I didn't get into MMOs. I just don't really do subscriptions for my gaming, it's not even a MU thing, and is unlikely to change.
There are Patreons I throw a few dollars to a month and I'd gladly do that for MUs I'm a dedicated player on if it was a voluntary thing/you didn't get perks for doing it. A MU I staffed on ages ago asked us to chip in a little a year to help cover server costs. It was nominal and made sense.
The story behind Pepe the Frog makes me sad as hell, and is really telling about the power of the internet to make something innocuous into something atrocious. It was created and used for years with zero hateful associations, but because it was adopted by fuckstains (HELLO 4CHAN USERS THE NEXT TIME YOU INVADE THIS BOARD, YOU ARE HORRIFIC FUCKSTAINS) so completely it's now pretty much impossible for it to mean anything but white nationalist/anti-Semitic garbage.
