I'd adore a game set somewhere that isn't 'somewhere American' or 'American but somehow in Europe.' Like Tokyo, or Cairo or something.

RE: RL Anger
@ganymede Thank you, but no. It's just a thing we have to wait out, really. It happens to the both of us, we're pros at dealing. But still, hit me like a tonne of bricks this morning.

RE: RL Anger
I'm angry right now. But it's that impotent rage of feeling so useless.
Both my partner and I suffer from bipolar disorder, and they are stuck in the deepest pit of despair I've ever seen them in. They're also 'home' in America (yay visa problems) while I'm at our home in Australia.I hate being useless. I hate too that I'm more concerned with my own uselessness than anything else.
I just want this cycle to end.

RE: RL Anger
@ixokai Doublethink is a vitally important part of any educator's toolkit.
-
RE: RL Anger
@ixokai Nope, that's definitely how I react to it upon re-reading.
Speaking as an education professional, not at the same level as the instructor in question but with marginally better people skills, I shall say this: YOU DO NOT OWN TIME OUTSIDE OF REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS OR THE HOURS OF YOUR INSTITUTION. YOU DO NOT GET TO MAKE DEMANDS OF PEOPLE THAT FORCE THEM TO FIT YOUR SCHEDULE OVER THEIRS OUTSIDE OF AFOREMENTIONED OPERATING HOURS. PEOPLE HAVE LIVES, YOU BRAINDEAD SCUM-SUCKING ASSMAGGOT.
It's only half-midnight here, but I think our intent is the same.

RE: RL Anger
Nobody reasonable can be surprised at the scope or the proliferation of such people and their abuses. As I can only speak for myself, when I express surprise I express such at the particular people so far named not the fact that such things have occurred. There is a level of self-delusional denial that comes with the revelation that people you admire or like are in a position to be accused of such things reviled the civilised world over. If the people we liked can do such things, what the fuck are the people we don't like doing?

RE: RL Anger
@auspice Depends on where you are, that could count as prostitution.
-
RE: RL Anger
@auspice While I'm perfectly willing to assume that such accusations are true, and it's understandable that once one series of accusations has come out more will do so... I really, really don't want to believe half of these.

RE: RL Anger
@ganymede I have dealt with such people who were formerly colleagues. This is exactly what they say, at least.

RE: Original Sci-Fi?
@surreality Unfortunately the 'it can make calls' part is showing your age a bit there.
-
RE: Original Sci-Fi?
@surreality That was part of my 'not enough or too much lore' issue. You're either expected to read a billion wiki pages to understand how to reload a laser gun, or you don't have even the slightest clue that laser guns exist.
-
RE: Original Sci-Fi?
@auspice On the one hand, sure. Not knowing exact names and doses is whatever. But not doing any kind of research whatsoever... at least watch some Greys Anatomy or ER if you want to play a doctor.
-
RE: Original Sci-Fi?
@surreality said in Original Sci-Fi?:
You, RL, may or may not know exactly how your phone works down to the circuits and signals and so on, but you do know how to call on it, tinker with an app, send a text, and so on.
Magic blue-black smoke and pixies.

RE: Original Sci-Fi?
@auspice How did you know that tonight is taco night?
-
RE: Original Sci-Fi?
@rnmissionrun Opening such a game isn't as easy as simply plopping in some code, building up a bit of a grid and hoping for the best. Original Sci-Fi needs original history and story, something which many previous original sci-fi games either had none of (or none in an easily accessible format) or had far too much to be doing with that all had to be read before you had a hope in hell of getting a character approved.
And they usually came with some homebrew dice system, or a system ripped from elsewhere that required an advanced mathematics degree to understand.
ETA: What @Auspice said better, a fraction of a moment before I hit submit.

RE: MU Things I Love
@aria That is oddly beautiful. I rarely see people take such care in their more intimate moments.
