@Ghost I mean even when you're using wrong as an adjective you still get being wrong versus doing wrong. Doing something requires intent, and what that intent actually is matters. If you intend on simply conveying information, and that information turns out to be incorrect, then you were incorrect. If you intend on being deceptive when conveying information, then you are lying.

It's honestly not that difficult, and we're not really arguing ethics or morality. We're simply talking about what words actually mean.

Not so. You have willingly made a choice to provide inaccurate information. If it is reasonable for a person to assume their information is accurate, it is also reasonable for them to express such information. They can still be wrong, but that is not the same as a willful telling of an untruth.

Being wrong is perhaps negligence, being willfully untruthful is lying.

@Derp I definitely agree that negligent misinformation is bad, but it's certainly not a lie. It's perhaps equally as bad to be negligent as it is to be willfully untruthful, but they're different things.

Splitting hairs is what we do. Merriam-Webster defines lie as "to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive."
Being wrong isn't the same as lying.

Here's my peeve of the day. Its actually for yesterday, but I was too tired...

Turning all the aircon units on in every classroom at the same time leads to none of us having air conditioning. It was 117 degrees.

Don't use your work email for personal relationship-based correspondence.
Don't use your work email to discuss your evening with your colleague's sister.
Don't use your work email to send that discussion, including intimate particulars, to the 'all-staff' mailing list.

Being both, I concur.

I meant more the specifics of the duties, rather than the professional treatment, but I agree.

@Ganymede It's sometimes astounding how similar the duties of a teacher and a lawyer really are.
