      @Arkandel said in RL Anger:

      So this is what gets me though. There's no mention of that soldier's name anywhere. He did something insanely brave at great personal risk - and he's just "that Austrian soldier".

      The Austrian soldier story is usually spoken of as myth or rumour, not an actual concrete happening. Some tellings state he was an officer, some an enlisted man.

      It's exceptionally hard to verify whether it happened, and who was there at the time.

      @RDC I think https://obsidianreverie.net/wiki/customs will have the information, eventually. They're probably still porting information over from other sources.

      Wes struck a deal with the Invictus.

      This is the first problem in this plan.

      TBH I dont know if teens play this like we did.

      The ones I've interacted with do, but the whole alt-right thing hasn't really made landfall over here.

      @Ghost This isn't really new, it's been around since I was in high school, at the very least.

      My idea was "Wars and Terrorists and Pretty Much The Same As Every Other Decade Only FASTER." But the committee said no.

      Bit of a mouthful, I have to say.

      I am, but what do you think of my idea for a decade name?

      We've had almost exactly twenty years and no one's come up with a name for the decade that isn't just shit.

      Nineteen ninety-one is in the nineties because there's a fucking ninety in the tens digit.

      Fine. Then 2001 was the start of the zeroth century because there's a zero in the hundreds digit.

      For the record, and the audience, neither @insomniac7809 or I are taking this seriously.

      @Tinuviel Yes, yes, cultural zeitgeists don't match up perfectly with the tens digit of our arbitrary measurements of time. I'm still not going to dignify "nineteen ninety-one was in the eighties" with a rebuttal.

      That's only my career you're talking about. 😛

      2020 is the start of the twenties.

      Ah, but is it? Most of the time these decade-based delinations are regarding cultural touchstones, which often don't manifest until partway through the decade and last until partway through the next. The 80s, culturally, has been argued to have been from 1984 to 1994.

      So everyone is correct, but in this instance, anyone obnoxious about it is a dick.

      ETA: I've written cultural touchstone too many times today, it's starting to get saturated.

      People who insist that 2020 isn't the start of a new decade.

      Every year is the start of a new decade, depending on where you're measuring from.

      @Wizz That's a little under two years. I expect reports in 2021.

      It's still weird to say 2021 as a thing that is in the immediate future.

      @Derp Though a Universal Declaration of Rights would be ridiculous, I do believe that there is a vast majority of people that hold certain OOC behaviours to be reprehensible regardless of what game they're playing on. Not IC behaviours, OOC ones. I'd even go so far as to argue many of these objections are objectively sound - the detestation of stalking and grooming, for instance.
