      @tinuviel And yet again, I will point out that Arx has lacked a HUGE amount of the 'shitty things' that happened at HM, TR, or FC. It's not to say it's been completely clean, it hasn't. But it has been a damn sight better than any of the other three. I would say that across three games and multiple staff all showing the same tendencies once they have a stake in the game? That's a pretty good pattern of showing that people in power probably shouldn't be playing characters in a game where they have authority.

      Rules are absolutely there to stop the bad guys. It just doesn't matter when the bad guys run the show.

      @tinuviel Yeaaaaaaaaaaah, blanket changes to rules that were blatantly made to benefit her/her friends' characters being applied blanket didn't make them any less wrong. Breaking the theme and rules to suit yourself isn't made better because you let everyone do it, it just makes it more broken as fewer and fewer people follow the actual theme and rules. There's a reason both of those games sank like the Titanic. People got tired of their shit being invalidated by her whims.

      @tinuviel The only problem comes in that we've seen what happens when staff play the games they staff, too. HM, The Reach, Fallcoast. How many times did a rule get changed, erased, retconned, etc. because it would adversely affect head staff's characters and/or their friends' characters? It wasn't even subtle. Remember when Sonder stated flat out that it was her game and she was going to do what she wanted to do and would absolutely play favorites?

      And then there's the people like Spider, who get their friends to become staff and manipulate things from behind the curtain in their favor. So she couldn't staff Mage, but she could install someone she could manipulate. Every sphere at one point or another saw corruption from within. Rules changed to benefit self or others with zero regard to theme, logic, or sanity.

      I definitely agree that there needs to be open lines of communication, there needs to be feedback received. But that is the worst way to go about it. No offense, but I've seen far, far less corruption and fuckery from Arx, where staff are restricted to NPC's than to ANY game where staff was allowed to play their own PC's.

      @sixregrets Which just shows how little people pay attention. If you can't spellcheck yourself before spewing hate... don't fucking spew hate. Also maybe look at the tweets? Gaetz has been laughing about this shit, cracking jokes, and generally taking none of it seriously. GERTZ has been handling it like a classy, intelligent human being. Gee, I wonder which of the two might be more likely to have slept with a minor... perhaps the one acting like one?

      @l-b-heuschkel No, you didn't get it wrong. I feel so bad for Matt Gertz. And it really shows just how little people pay any sort of attention.

      @crawfish Everyone I've spoken to has said that they've had to call off or call out after the second shot because of how they felt. I'm wondering if the Johnson & Johnson one is any better since I've only heard from people who got the Pfizer vaccine.

      @wretched We get stuff like this offered to us on occasion too. For meeting/exceeding a specific metric or wevs. And I never understand why they think its going to work. Like... guys. Have you seen the foods we bring in for our team potlucks? And you think we're going to squeal and jump around over the shitty pizza you guys buy? I have a teammate who literally has a baked goods side hustle because she loves to bake. My team gets the BEST party foods. You think your 'pizza party' is gonna impress me? My teammate made me a whole ass cheesecake with strawberry topping. Fuck your pizza.

      Okay. So. Serious talk.

      ANY parent who EVER tries to guilt-trip a child (grown or not) for the 'sacrifices' they made for that child? NOT a real parent. That is someone who was expecting to get a lifetime YesMan/Indentured Servant/Gofer/Flunky. If you EVER hear anything about how hard it was to 'sacrifice' their social life or the economic hardships they faced in feeding/clothing/putting a roof over your head... that is not a parent, that is an entitled incubator. Walk away and don't look back.

      No real parent will EVER make their child feel guilty for THEIR decision to have a child. I had my first child at 16, I literally did not get a choice in the matter, and I still will never make my son feel guilty for having been born. It was not his decision, he did not get to choose who he was born to. Even though I didn't get to choose whether or not I wanted to have a baby, I chose to have sex with someone and it resulted in a child. Not his fault. He will never hear that it was his fault I couldn't go to parties or concerts or that I spent my 20s working dead end jobs just to make ends meet. Because it is Not His Fault.

      And it's not yours either. Seriously, that person does not care about you as a person and you owe them nothing. Walk away, delete them from your life, they are worse than dead weight because they are actively trying to hold you back. I won't say that it's easy or simple, it won't be. It never is. But you are worth more than what they will ever give.

      And instead of doing any of the things on the wheel, you spend 8 hours staring at a video game*, having made almost no progress despite the time that has elapsed.

      • video game being interchangeable with pretty much anything that should have a productivity level or emotional/logical resonance to it. i.e. binged a show, worked on a project, etc.

      @ganymede GET 'EM

      Edit: More seriously, as a mother with two sons, one who got speech therapy and one who didn't... speech therapy is critical in the early years. Before they get to middle school and the more advanced social constructs that start showing up. My oldest son needed it but never received it and he still struggles with appropriate communication. My youngest son received it during those critical years through a speech therapist at his school, and while he still struggles with self-confidence and self-advocation, he is able to communicate well with his peers and his teachers. When someone recognizes his flareups, he can verbalize it and get the help he needs to work through it.

      @macha They can't provide you with a copy of the call, but they do need to provide it to you in writing. If their policy is to remove all liability from the primary/co-signer if one or the other files bankruptcy, then they need to a) ensure that it doesn't adversely affect your credit (which you've already stated it has), b) has steps in place to correct the issue if for some reason it does affect someone's credit adversely, and c) provide documentation on request of said policies. Any company policy should either be stated on the contract itself, or available on request in writing. They're going to hesitate to put anything in writing because it means they'll be legally bound by it. Insist, Insist, Insist. If a regular rep won't do it, then ask for a manager. Ask to speak with legal. They may ask you to put a request in writing. As for a fax # or email address to send it to. Entrust NOTHING to regular postal mail.
