@Ganymede The venn diagram of people who bitch about both things and who do not understand how public school funding works is pretty much just a circle.
An eternal hat tip to the late Mrs. Jessica Fletcher. May you finally see Frank again, and not have to solve anymore murders.
@Macha I am grateful on a daily basis that my direct supervisor is tech-savvy. So I can drop him a note in Teams saying 'hey, my bandwidth dropped to like.. 3mbps down around 2am, I had to restart the router to clear the noise off the line and refresh the signal, back up and running by 2:20!' and he actually understands. I've told him each time I've had a tech out to check the lines or fix issues, so I haven't lost any time trying to get Comcast to play straight with me.
Comcast currently owes me recompense for one of their tech's putting a hole in my bedroom wall and cracking the baseboard in the living room because their brilliant idea for 'fixing' the issue of a dead port in my bedroom was to run coax all the way the Hell around the living room, through a second port on the other side of the living room, through a hole they put in my bedroom wall (no port, no face plate, just a hole punched into the drywall with a screwdriver), to run more coax from the hole to the router. Since I live in an apartment building where they are supposed to gain permission from the PMC before making any modifications to the buildings, they're now responsible for the damages to the wall and baseboard. >.>
@Macha Of course not. The average tech understanding amongst management is stuck at 'turn it off, then turn it back on again' or 'reset the router'. Beyond that they don't understand intermittent and recurring issues. It either works or it doesn't.
@Ganymede Yes, Ripley! She was fun.
@Ganymede Weeeeeeeell, I don't know what game you're on now. Last game we were on together was Arx. But that last time I had a character flirt at yours was... the female vampire with the hat. Which was... Fallcoast? The Reach? One of those.
@Ganymede I tried to flirt with your female vamp! She just.. never really took the bait. Probably because I'm terrible at flirting. >.> But you do play an exceptionally good psycho, whichever the gender.
As a female player, I highly recommend everyone 'covertly' play a female character at least once. The experience is wild. And not in a good way. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to play a male character from time to time just to get a break... but then I end up on a game where there's 3 female characters for every male and I'm not sure that would really be any better. XD

@Macha IO know for cats, certain plastics have scents they just LURVE.
Quoted for truth. I have a 19 year old cat that will actively seek out the plastic wrap from my paper towels or toilet paper, including ignoring the cat food.
I lost her brother 3 years ago. Undiagnosed heart condition, threw a clot, by the time we got to the vet it was in his lungs. Nothing we could do. 6 months later, I got George. George is now 15, a big puddle of purrs, and I am delighted to have him. He can't replace Val, nobody can replace Val. But he is his own delight and I'm never going to be sorry for getting him.
@Macha Yes! So, I have been cooking pretty much everything in my air fryer lately. Takes less time, less mess, I've really come to love it.
My current 'blend' of veggies is yellow squash, zucchini, eggplant, mushrooms, and onions. I add in rutabaga if I want something potato-like that isn't just potatoes. Set the air fryer to about 380 degrees, toss the veggies in a light drizzle of avocado oil (mostly so the seasoning will stick), coat with whatever seasonings desired, then throw those bad boys in for about 10 minutes, make sure to shake the basket at the halfway mark. I do 10 minutes because I tend to slice and cube thick, and because I like a little char on the onions. But you could only do maybe 6-7 minutes and get some really good veggies.
I'm trying to play around a lot with seasonal veggies, so that I can buy fresh from local as much as possible, but something like mushrooms and onions are pretty year round, so I try to always keep them in there. I prefer baby bella mushrooms, and vidalia onions, but ymmv. I'm going to be trying a blend of brussels sprouts with rutabaga on my next go, since the sprouts are in season currently. Oh! And corn on the cob! Comes out AWESOME in the air fryer. But really, you can toss most anything in there. The biggest hurdle is just making sure that whatever you're cooking has like temp/time needs.
But yes, this has been /invaluable/ in getting me to eat healthier. I did up a veggie medley with some tofu, and I was super happy with it. The tofu doesn't /feel/ heavy, but it was filling enough that the whole shebang split into two meals worth!
I just made tofu for the first time last night. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised with how it came out! I've been trying to aim towards a more veggie-heavy diet this past month and I've been amazed and thrilled with how well it's turned out!
The best part is that I can par-cook a load of veggies and toss them into the fridge them just pop them into the air fryer for about 5 minutes when I'm ready to eat.
@Arkandel I didn't even notice. I just wanted to give a nod to his performance in Knives Out.
@Arkandel TBF, he played a villain before he was done playing Steve Rogers.

It's so niche and probably just me but I've always thought a game where the gimmick is that all characters are inspired by different songs would be fun. There would probably have to be an overarching plot or something maybe but yeah

@too-old-for-this I love this version. I /may/ have restarted it to make Logan dance around the room with me <.< >.>
That version is the only version I will listen to anymore. The rest all seem lacking now. >.>

@too-old-for-this As someone who lived in Kansas, I can verify this.
As someone who grew up in Iowa. Respect.
@ganymede I would love to join any discussion about location. Admittedly, the idea of Dreams/Nightmares gaining a level of sentience or personality really kind of draws me to like... 1930's Midwest/Southwest (which could potentially include Las Vegas). Basically a time and place where people had more dreams and/or nightmares than they had food or money. Which, realistically, pushing it forward to post-apoc could easily see much the same situation. But I do love the whole Route 66 area, up into Nevada. Or just... Middle America. Where you can literally drive for three hours on a straight road and STILL wind up wondering if you're even getting anywhere because its just... all the same, everywhere you look.

You know, in case you ever wanted to hear Nickelback's 'Rockstar' as a slappin' sea shanty.
There's sea shanties, and there's sea shanties.
And then there's SEA SHANTIES.
Have fun getting this earworm out of your head. >.>
