Hm, I don't think aliens would count as supernatural- I think that intelligent life in the universe is possible. However, due to sheer physics alone and the gaping, unimaginable distance between stars, much less galaxies, I don't think we will ever have a chance to meet- then you have to add the facts that civilizations that could be in their stone age right now will be technologically advanced by the time we have probably disappeared, and realize this probably happens all over the place in the universe. Two civilizations meeting has such an infinitesimal chance of happening...
Then again, considering the size of the universe, it probably has happened. Not to us, though, I don't think.
And while we are still finding species we had no idea existed, something like a bigfoot or a Nessie really is out of the question. Demons and Vampires, though, do exist- they're in the opera business, representing singers.

(much like his pushing and beating up of the kid in the origin point of the first movie).
That bit, actually, I do find it consistent with what we know about Vulcans. Vulcans embraced a philosophy of total emotional repression because their emotions, apparently, were so strong as to be extremely destructive (some hella glands they must have.) Spock, being a hybrid (the only one in his time) from a union with a species most Vulcans regarded as emotionally unstable, was probably the butt of many barbs. Vulcans are huge snobs- they're just not rude about it. Baby Spock probably faced more challenges than most when it came to taming his inner beast. A flare up here or there wouldn't have been unlikely.
I've never really seen any evidence that confirms the existence, or even the possibility, of the 'paranormal'- even as much comfort as it could give me to think that, for example, my mom will continue to exist as herself after she dies.
But I've really seen no real body of evidence that supports claims of the supernatural- with every claim of either supernatural phenomena or abilities disintegrating under serious scrutiny, with the aforementioned abilities somehow being incapable of being replicated under controlled conditions. James Randi's challenge has remained unconquered now for decades.
I don't deny that some things happen which appear to be supernatural, but most of the time they're either psychological, or perfectly explainable by science- even if it takes a long while to figure out exactly what the hell was it that happened- such as the recent discovery that infrasound may be linked to the trend of ghost sightings by, basically, flipping a survival switch in our brain when the infrasound frequencies resemble the low spectrum of the growls produced by certain predators.
This has led me to conclude that the popularity of Barry White and the explosion of ghost sightings in the seventies were not coincidental in the least.
And the BBQ was cancelled because, I paraphrase, one of the external vendors lost its mind and IT has to fix that. BUT we WILL be getting an afternoon off as soon as they re-organize that. Whether or not there'll be a BBQ or not, it's still pretty cool. And I get to keep the overtime I made this week to compensate for the hours I would have lost friday. Though it's not nearly as juicy because overtime is taxed higher, so it won't make much of a difference. Still...

Kia Forte. We were impressed it made that far. I still put my money on divine intervention.
Holy shit, that thing deserves a medal.
I did briefly stop by the game, ages ago, out of sheer curiosity. As a gay male, I guess I fit the demographic of the place. Unfortunately, though, while sexy pretend times can be fun... once in a while (with a good reason for it to happen, character development-wise), the focus on most of the RP I encountered was the Pizza Delivery porn flavor. It isn't really a place for character development combined sexy funtimes, it seems like it's just mostly sexy funtimes
Which is totally fine if that's your speed, but not for me. But power to them for going with it! In the brief time I was there, I never felt unwelcome or ill at ease, so one of the goals of the place is working, at least.
But back on topic... I really don't understand the outrage. I mean, say, a gay guy wants to create a sex club that caters exclusively to guys who want to do other guys... are we really going to spring into full outrage mode and demand he allow women, or vituperate him for excluding women from... a gay... male... sex club? It rather seems the heights of ridiculousness.
I mean, it'd be like someone demanding to play a Male Amazon in Themyscira because it's unfair that men are exclu-
-Ok, let's pretend the Azzarello run didn't happen and Manazon-children-of-rape aren't a thing, ok? (Donna Troy killed them all, anyways, and Greg Rucka is doing his best to sweep that whole thing under the rug....)

Result: I'm currently looking for a new accompanist.
Just kidding. I've had my autocorrect pull this with her, so she knows my phone is the devil. But still.
I've been thinking about streaming, honestly, but I find myself doing the pre-recorded thing more and more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZWdNkyBmYQ
My workplace is still awesome. So, on Friday, Credentialing and IT are moving to a new building a mile away from here because we're growing. IT moving means relocating equipment and servers, and since we do billing and practice management for the local anesthesiologists and whatnot, the servers being offline means we can do jack shit while that move takes place.
All work stops at noon on Friday so the move can take place. So the CEO is throwing a company-wide BBQ in the parking lot for all of us and we get paid lunch during it. We were allowed to come in an hour early every day of this week, so we won't be missing any hours after the shutdown post-BBQ. This week I'm getting to leave at 1pm, have most of Friday to myself, and not taking a hit on my paycheck. Yay!
.... note to self. Keep a good eye on the goddamned phone. I just texted my accompanist asking her if she would feel up to doing a RECTAL with me at the end of July instead of a recital.

I felt like I was watching the series that Galaxy Quest was meant to be.
That's actually a good way of putting it. Yes.
Anyhow, the Star Trek movies have replaced actors before, so. I'm more concerned about the guy getting pinned between his car and a wall. That sounds painful and a slow way to go.
It is horrible... and also so strange. I know the police have said there was no foul play... still, just both horrible and bizarre.
I have to admit I just... hated most of the new Star Trek movies. I mean, as movies go, they're fine, but they're not fine Trek movies. They definitely feel like Star Trek by way of Star Wars, with a lot of the thoughtfulness replaced by a lot of action - it's a thin veneer of Star Trek stretched over something that could easily be another franchise, and quickly forgotten if it didn't have the brand recognition. Then again, that could be said about most of Star Trek.
That being said, the moment I saw Abrams' first Trek movie, I had the impression he was auditioning for Star Wars. I do think his touch is far better geared towards Science fantasy shootouts., and it definitely found itself at home with Star Wars.
Yelchin was great, though. I always enjoyed him, even if I didn't enjoy how off-model the universe he inhabited felt.
@Bobotron watch the biopic on Edith Piaf's life, "La Vie En Rose" (original title "La Mome") with Marion Cotillard.
Kid you not, you'll weep like a babe. And 90% of what happens in the movie actually happened to her.
Come play vif uns, @Roz . Ve haff Kekse.
Says the guy who still can't decide whom to play.
I want to!
I'm just having a hard time figuring out a character >_>
Well, I have the full picture now re; mom's cancer, and it wasn't too different from what I was expecting.
She's starting chemo today. IF she reacts favorably, the doc says that her life expectancy would be 1 to 2 years. If not, less.
She's also extremely depressed, because she is by character an extremely depressive, pessimistic person, so that's going to affect her. And the fact that my aunt, her sister, is probably going to die of cancer in a few months from now is going to hit her hard as well. She doesn't want to walk, she barely eats, and my father isn't helping because he's losing his temper when she resists.
Can we be done with 2016 already?
I am hoping the name isn't something along the lines of Bigglesworth McBiggs or something like that?
