So I'm reading this thread and I'm finding my perspective might differ when I Rp than others here. Even if its a bad situation, I'm still there, playing my character, who is the protagonist of my show, as I imagine other PC's are the protagonists of theirs, reacting to stimuli and responding, in character. What is even the point of playing if to avoid any conflict you cannot dominate? Sometimes you get yelled at, or face consequences. You are still there, RPing right? How does this reflect on yout he player? I love it when bad things happen to my PC's... thats the most fun part. Conflict, and playing that character within that conflict. Right?

I think we're losing sight of the real focus of this thread, and that is the impending 'Smol Birbing'

@Bad-at-Lurking So I am, or have been this staffer. I'm not really proud of it, I'm opinionated as heck, but the lines between my opinions and the game used to get blurred a lot. I mean at the time I would deny it, but yeah. FWIW, I'm looking to do better in the future, but for anyone who went through that shit with me, I am sorry.

@Auspice This may sound trite, but exertion/exercise does sometimes help, as a last resort, like taking a walk. This is however anecdotal.

Edit: My therapist was talking to me about fight/flight responses and a lot of times those feelings are literally adrenaline with nowhere to go. To paraphrase badly.

Fashion for fat male goths... or fat men in general. One of the positive aspects of Prozac has been me giving a shit about how i look again, and I'd like some reasonable boots once more, but i got them fat ankles. There's like nothing out there. Big and tall just shows like football players.

Rant rant, next to no positive heavyset male fashion examples, pages and page and pages and pages of female weight/body positivity, shit for men.

It also doesn't help that the complex owners seem to be completely against having people be able to find themselves around. There are several buildings all named after plums, they don't differentiate floors with numbers, so my apt 123876 (not the real one) is on the second floor despite starting with a 1. And then there are fire doors at the ends of the hallway that just read 'fire door keep closed' with no other indications as to the fact that the apartments are on the other side of said door. Or a list of what apt numbers might be on that hallway. Its just a maze.

@Auspice Enter the parking lot, its the first building, second floor. If you fin d a closed parking lot gate, it's the wrong one, go to the other entrance.

Like 1 out of 7 can manage.

Re: phlebotomists.

When they find your vien first try, give em a compliment and watch faces light up. It rarely happens with me but its a fun game of random kindness. Also with delivery drivers that don't have to call me to find my apartment in this maze of a complex.

So I am generally of the camp that makes wtf ever i want and then make it work. However I also like to play characters over a long period of time, so even if someone is occupying my niche now, good chances say they wont be in a few months.

And even if they are playing a character similar to mine, just make it your own and play it better. So what if there are 3 hookah lounge ogre blacksmiths... compete with each other, advertize ridiculous sales, Team Up. I find the best success comes from really finding something you are interested in playing, rather than looking for whatever others want/need, because people will often react more to seeing someone playing something they are passionate about, and see that reflect in the interest they put into their RP and character, rather than someone going 'yeah we need a badminton instructor, no one is playing one.

@Ghost This was a good one, usually they waste 12 minutes finding veins and re stabbing me before getting help, this girl just got it in one go.

I've gone through them all multiple times myself. Tho I admit i enjoy the change of voice for Ghost Story (before marsters came back and did it) because that whole book was different, it felt right somehow.
