      PC only?

As far as I know, yes. I looked it up and it said it was 'going to launch in 2016 for consoles and PC', but like... it's 2017, and it's EA on PC? I have no clue.

Also I just tried a melee character. Also quite satisfying.

@lain D3 with Reaper of Souls is fantastic. I believe the Battle Chest for it is like $19.99 now. It is a loot and FX piñata.

Did they bring back Diablo II's openendedness? That's part of why it was so fun for me. You could customize your items through various means. Was really cool tbh

@You may need to ask others if they think so. To me the answer is yes. You reach level 70, and then start accumulating Paragon levels which you get to assign points to a set list of 16 stats. That pretty much caps out at paragon level 800. You can destroy Legendary items and save a copy of their unique power, and run one armor, one weapon and one jewelry legendary power at a time. Every power has lots of Runs to change how the power functions and what element it does if its an attack. There is a ton of potential ways to play, but there are synergies that are shared, and reinforced by class sets. They also introduced Primal Ancients, but that isn't customization.

I have a waggish sense of humor.

Paragon levels don't cap out at 800. That's just to get 50 in each of them. Certain ones, like your power attribute (Int, Str, Dex) and Vitality are completely open ended.

I was thinking more along the lines of taking an already cool item and then putting a socket in it, then taking one of your socket accessories and putting it in.

Or putting in some amalgamation into your horoadric cube and having it spit out something more useful than what you put in. You could do a wide range of things with that.

It was really fun. I like crafting stuff.

well the Cube is how you store the Legendary powers. There is the Enchantress, which lets you reroll one trait of an item as much as you like (barring resources) to get both the trait you want, at a level you want. It's all still on the diminishing returns slot machine model. I find it works out very well in Seasonal play. Not sure how I would feel trying to keep upping a 2000+ paragon level character, though I guess you could do aim for all Primals which have maxed stats.

@lithium Yes, that is why I said pretty much. The extra stats help, but at that stage Ancients and Primals and maybe really high level Gems are your main gains in my experience.

I have a waggish sense of humor.

@Misadventure I've found the unended vitality to be a major thing, especially once you're at T13 or higher where pretty much anything can 1 shot you with normal health levels.

@Lithium Double post: T13 is nothing once you are geared (I do it runs in under 4 minutes on average and can pretty much AFK myself through) but GR80+ is a bitch.

I'm in the market for a good RPG. Any newish noteworthy ones around? I was thinking of Divinity: Original Sin 2, but are there any suggestions?

If you like JRPGs Trails in the Sky is damn good.

If you want something more like Baldur's Gate-style then Divinity Original Sin 2 is the way to go.

There is an oldschool style RPG available called Balrum that I've been digging into on and off and it is pretty enjoyable.

Hellblade isn't bad but it is kind of linear in the worst ways that Dragon Age 2 was (if you played that).

And if you want something semi-open world Dark Souls 2 and 3 are on sale right now on Steam. I have not played either of them but people tend to say they are great games.

I also just picked up West of Loathing on my review account but I have not tried it yet, but that looks like wacky RPG fun.

                                  And:

I'm going to toss these few games on here that are fun but are not 'new'

Legend of Grimrock 1 and 2 is enjoyable if you enjoyed the old D&D dungeon crawlers like Menzoberranzan and Eye of the Beholder.

Paper Sorcerer is also a dungeon crawler style RPG and is pretty enjoyable.

And I've sank a ridiculous amount of hours in Adventure Manager playing only in spare moments between busy spurts while working.

The entire Legend of Heroes series is good. The most recent one out on Steam is Trails of Cold Steel, with 2 on the way soon and 3 in development. Cold Steel is the 11th game in the series, although they can all be played separately, or within their own trilogies. There's a couple of Legends of Heroes games that haven't made it over here though.

Trails of Cold Steel Is also new, but not; came out on Steam in August, but was originally a 360 and PS3 game. It's a good port though.

Be prepared if you pick up any of the Legends of Heroes though to spend a LOT of time in game (main story of Cold Steel and extras clocks in at 84.5 hours, completionist says 111 hours), and lots of anime cut scenes.
