      Did anyone else play this? I love this game and system, and have most of the books. I think it's the best WW ever did combat-wise.

      An article came out recently on the history behind White Wolf's mostly forgotten Street Fighter RPG.

      It incorporated a semi-standard White Wolf character sheet, but your fighter would learn attacks, defenses, and maneuvers that would add or subtract dice to rolls. Then you and your opponent would place your move choices for that combat round on a card, face down (and not be able to change your move). When your point in the initiative came up, you'd flip your card.

      A great example is: My Shotokan Karate fighter finally learned to fireball (Ha-Dooooken!) and the other player I was fighting in the tournament placed his card down. I put my card down. With a fireball move on it.

      When the cards flipped, my opponent JUMPED and I fireballed. So I missed. !!!%&;**=,

      Delete the Hog Pit. It'll be fun.

        I was briefly obsessed with this game. I made a kitsune girl fighter who had a many-tails attack.

          I played this game religiously for years. Like every day with my little group of gaming nerd friends. I did love it quite a bit. White Wolf basically reconstructed the game in their "big book of beating ass" but... it was for WoD and that made it lose a lot of its flavor.

            I loved this game. Still have the books even. My group modified combat to get away from the cards but I kind of wish we hadn't. Great game!

              I too loved this game. Heck i even included Street Fighter NPCs into a couple of wod games, (not the big names but some of the random folks from the contenders book.)

                I'd never heard of it until someone said that it was an inspiration for MotM's Street Fighter centric CSYS. (It's a rumor and may have been a joke, but it got me curious about the tabletop system.) Never played with it, but seems cool.

                    They also did this thing called "Combat" that basically was Street Fighter rules as drop-in for WoD.

                    I only really remember this because one of the first places I ever played was a Sailor Moon game using WoD systems and the Combat book.

                            There weren't the same but WoD:Combat was influenced by Street Fighter but still used standard WoD mechanics just with bells and whistles. Street Fighter made significant modifications to the base WoD system like only having one roll per attack instead of the three or four of most OWoD combat.

                                    I own it but never played it. The combat system was used as the basis for the Exalted spinoff Burn Legend, which I feel does it better.

                                        @tragedyjones The Exalted sourcebook Shards of the Exalted Dream contains a game that's basically a fighting game. It's difficult to explain the mechanics; it's basically Rock-Paper-Scissors, except there are five or six different categories of technique, each of which trumps one different other kind of technique and which goes to roll-off against any non-trump situation. It's very fast, and much simplified over any White Wolf game to date.

                                            Yeah, it's pretty good. It's like a deck-building card game crossed with an RPG. Any White Wolf game can be cheesed, but the simplicity of the mechanics prevent a lot of that, and the card game aspect brings in elements that add entirely new player skills to gaming.
