Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.

It was... busy yesterday, to say the least, at the Eaton Centre which is one of Toronto's largest malls downtown, in the weeks leading up to Christmas, right after they had put up a gigantic (and well publicized) tree in it.
And yet I could see parents trying to seal up portions of it to take mid-range pictures of their kids with their brand new point-and-shoot non-smartphone cameras and getting annoyed because random people wanted to, you know, walk around as well. Dude - this was only dads, it seems - this isn't your personal playground. Notice the thousands of people around?

Today my cat decided I needed to be away at 4 AM, fully 90 minutes before my alarm was set to go off.
Hopefully this is not predictive of how the rest of today is going to go.

My aunt is on one of her anti-vax tears on Facebook today and I'm in a shit mood, so I'm having a really hard time not replying to her threads with: 'Yeah, on my worse days, I do really wish I'd died of a preventable disease rather than be diagnosed on the autism spectrum. I'm sure <tag my mom> appreciates that you think that, too!'
But I probably shouldn't kick off any family feuds this close to Christmas.
-
@saosmash That you would normally have to be up at 5:30am seems like something well-worthy of disgruntlement in the first place. Yeesh.
Cats are lucky they're cute, because they can be major assholes.
-
@auspice ....you have far more self-control than I do.

- Lack of empathy.
- Problems taking steps to start a conversation.
- Difficulty understanding their listener's perspective.
- Preoccupation with certain topics.
- A need for sameness and routines.
I double-dog dare you.

I'M BEHAVING FOR THE HOLIDAAAAAAAAAYS.
(I mean I need a haircut and maybe Santa will decide I've behaved just enough this year to let me afford one okay.)

Sup, fellow Torontonian!

I'll be huddling in my basement apartment, a Sarah Harmer cliche

Santa finds out who's naughty and nice, but that doesn't mean he doesn't give the naughty people anything.
Heck, if it's your thing, the jolly ol' fat man will give you what you want, you saucy bitch.
(I have now found a new concept for a future Autumn changeling.)

You say that, but...

You just described the Republican base.

I swear, every time that someone mentions "Republican", "Conservative", "Democrat", "Liberal"... my finger lingers over the nuke button. I am so fucking sick of politics (and broken, fucked up politics at that!) that it will, at some point, drive me off of games, this board and so many other things that I enjoy.
I already avoid the news, have given up social media, and so many other things because of it, in the avoidance of it.
Not that anyone gives a shit about me, but seriously, I am not the only person/American here and elsewhere that is beyond the puking stage with politics and the zealotry and idle attacks.

I'd love to ignore the shit out of politics, but I have neither the privilege nor the luxury to ignore it.

FUCKING STOP TRYING TO CALL OUT HUNG OVER.
We all know why you feel shitty and we don't care. You're a grown man and you know when you work. Either calm the fuck down with work night drinking or suck it the fuck up.
-
@tek Shoutout for basement apartments in cold weather lands! (Space heaters in place)
-
@macha I'm super lucky. I'm in a newly renovated place with central air and heating.

Youngest child in preschool for the first time and all 3 olders being in high school for the first time = never ending sickness due to two new cauldrons of pestilence. We’ve had two rounds of confirmed influenza, some weird headache/body ache thing, URI that jumps into the lungs, today is the first day in a long while I’ve not had to take some kind of pain med for joint and muscle pain...and now two of us have scratchy throats!!!
