I just started Podcasts for the first time.
The Last Podcast on the Left
Hardcore History
Lore
(A slew of NBA and Suns)
Sword and Scale
The DailyLove The Last Podcast on the Left. Love Love. Their run on Rasputin, the Oklahoma City Bombing, and in particular the Donner Party was exceptional. Any suggestions like that?
-
@buttercup those are mostly great ones. Also, "My Favorite Murder". Coincidence Island is a great ep to sample.
-
@kanye-qwest Oh, thank you. Added. I added Murder Dictionary this morning and it was good. But haven't listened to more than two so far so cannot say if it is consistently good.
-
Haven't heard the one you're referencing, but if asked, these are my suggestions!
The History of Rome
Revolutions
No Sleep
Tea With Alice
The Bugle
The Moth -
D & D is for Nerds
-
Happy Jacks RPG Podcast
The F Plus
Sawbones
Science VS
Philsophize This
Adam Ruins Everything
You Are Not So Smart
Your Mom's House -
Small Town Murder and Crime In Sports (done by the same guys) are hilarious and I love them.
-
I like My Favorite Murder because it's funny true crime and the hosts are women.
Science Vs is amazing, and the host is a woman.
This Podcast will Kill You is a super interesting exploration of disease and such by....women
The Faculty of Horror is a great podcast that examines and critiques horror films of all decades by women.
I just. It's so easy to hear men talking. It's nice to have a break from that, sometimes.
-
A bit off direction but try the wittertainment one - kermode & mayo film review. I love it. (if there any members of the church here, hello to jason isaacs, tickity-tonk and down with the nazis). Great film reviews, and a nice number of silliness happening.

Also:
Someone Knows Something
Kitchen Table Cult (I believe I've mentioned that I spent a lot of my childhood/very early adulthood in cult like fundamentalist religious setting. These two young folks are walkways from the same community)
If you are interested in series, I recommend:
Heaven's Gate (Glenn washington narrating)
Dr DeathFor lighter fare:
99% Invisible
Things you missed in history class
Ask a manager
Let's talk about myths, baby -
Ummm let's see. I dont think anyone has mentioned
Casefile
Canadian true crime
American Sex
Hardcore History
History of Byzantium
Trace EvidenceYeah, I might be a podcast addict
-
The best podcast I’ve not seen on anyone’s list yet: The Allusionist
I found this one through 99% Invisible and he’s right, it’s like stand-up about language.
And it’s hosted by a woman
If you like Lore but want your stories less...depressing, then I strongly recommend Myths and Legends (the modern telling of these old stories is very accessible to my brain) and Aaron Mahnke’s Cabinet of Curiosities for a shorter, lighter fare than his usual (Lore, Unobscured).
I will reaffirm “Science Vs.” as a good series, just don’t take it as heavy science but as taking a scientific approach to things and checking out what we know and what we don’t know.
The episode on Lyme scared the shit outta me.

@kanye-qwest Murder dictionary is also two women and they are quite comical too at times. I started with 'B' is for biker which are some of their more recent episodes. I would definitely recommend them to you now that I am like 5 episodes deep. I will try out the one you suggested on my drive home this evening. Excited.

I also really love comedian podcasts, and they fill a lot of hours during my workday.
I think I rotate through four currently.
The Joe Rogan Podcast
Your Mom's House - Which is Tom Segura and his wife Christina Pazsitzky(probably my favorite of the four)
Bertcast - Bert Kreischer
This Past Weekend - Theo Von -
They haven't had any new episodes in a while though.
-
Has ReplyAll been brought up? I mean, as internet nerds, that's kind of a must for us.

Listen, this is an intervention. Please sit down, we want to tell you that we care about you.

I dont listen to that podcasts for political commentary more the scientific, research and other experts in fields I dont know much about. The sleep study scientist episode was fascinating a few months back. Besides he has a lot of other comedians I enjoy as guests.
While I dont agree with all of Rogans opinions I shouldn't have to. I agree with enough that I keep listening. Also i get a lot of good workout and better eating and fitness advice out of it, oddly.
I get the podcast is controversial and that's fine. I dont have to be 100 percent on board with everything to find some kind of enjoyment out of it.
