I'm really curious as to how theyre going to depict the Ogier, since ive seen many styles...
Or
Orrrrr
So forth and so on. I prefer the first. I prefer the BESTIAL LOOKING MONSTER that loves books a la Ron Perlman in Beauty and the Beast and less "kinda Shrek meets Ichabod Crane".

Everyone hopes for Byron Mann after seeing him in Wu Assassin.
Unfortunately, you're more likely to get Ken Jeong.
Hrm, interesting choice for Lan. I don't care about the racial casting choices one way or the other but I admit I was thinking of him as older as well.
Speaking of all this though I'm curious now to see how much emphasis is placed on the martial arts parts in the show - sparring, training, fighting, all that stuff. It's probably much more cinematic than teaching about how Saidar is like a flower spreading its leaves or whatever but then again just how the One Power works is critical to what makes WoT tick.
-
Book wise he would be downhill side of his 40s at the start of the series so the casting is a little young and not as weathered/grizzled but guess that's for the costuming people to figure out.
I expect there to be a lot of exposition on the One Power... hopefully done better than how Wu Assassin handled their training montage.
-
I'll be very interested in seeing how they handle Powers that some can and some can't see. Will we the viewers always be able to see Saidar and Saidin both as well as the True Power?
-
So I hate the art style, a lot, but Undone looks like it might be really good.
-
Same.

Same.
I have the opportunity to go to an early screening in a theater of the pilot episode and I'm like nnnnnnnnnngh. I love this premise. This story could be amazing.
But I dislike the art style so much and I suspect seeing it on a theater screen would give me nausea (because of the way the scenes/characters move).
-
You mean like a default After-Effects filter?
Mind you, they had me at "Bojack Horseman". Hopefully the producers are as savvy as the creators and it'll just get better as they find their feet.
-
I've always loved the rotoscoping effect, ever since I saw a trailer for A Scanner Darkly. But it is definitely a bit odd, and I can totally see why it would make people uncomfortable.
-
I just don't like it. Looks ugly to me. I couldn't watch A Scanner Darkly for the same reason. I dunno! To each their own.

I will give one 'quibble' to Carnival Row, they introduce a sort of steampunk aesthetic early on and it runs through the series in the background but then never really seems to do anything beyond being window dressing.
I know this is really old but ...
It's that exactly what steampunk is? All appearance, no function.
-
@Sockmonkey Yes and no. When it is badly done it is certainly all appearance and no function, but this is largely true of any genre.
As an example you could argue that the situation fae is just 'all appearance' and they offer 'no function' that can't be accomplished by framing the story in the modern age with refugees from real countries. However, since that aspect of the story is done well what you are left with is more a feeling that they've used them as a way to sort of 'reframe' modern day issues to cause people to think rather than just slapping a layer of paint over them.

(Could not find the first comic without the second.)

Rian is the horniest Gelfling.
CHANGE MY MIND.

Just a little reminder that The Deuce started up again this week. It's a great show and if you haven't checked it out yet, you should!
-
So uh. Season 9 of Shameless just hit Netflix. I love the show but... one complaint.
Did the show have to ride AA's dick so hard? Seriously? AA does some good for some people but as a program it is highly flawed and more than a little controversial. The show basically puts the organization on a pedestal as the 'cure to addiction'. Ugh.
-
I didn't see any of The Masked Singer last season, and I apparently missed out on the show most tailored to my tastes.
Mystery identities? Check.
Fancy costumes to tickle my inner consumer? Check.
Karaoke singing? Check.
Like, holy fuckballs, what the fuck, people, I thought you liked me enough to tell me about this fucking show.
Dicks.

@Ganymede
@Cupcake and @Auspice were having actual conversations about who they thought the various people were, on MSB. How'd you miss it?This is true. It's not my fault you missed our posts about it, @Ganymede!
(Still proud of myself for knowing who the Monster was from his first episode. SELF HI5!)
