@tinuviel you're getting dangerously close to a Ramona Flowers vibe here.

I have a waggish sense of humor.

Remember him for his sharp wit. Even about cancer!

"I'm pretty sure, I'm not a doctor, but...I mean if you die, the cancer also dies at exactly the same time," Macdonald said. "So to me, that's not a loss. That's a draw."

"It's not like cancer goes home to fuck my wife afterwards."

I never really found him that funny, but I have to admit that that's some damned good dark humor.

Goddammit. Royal Wedding and 7 Brides for 7 Brothers are two of my favorite musicals!

Interesting bit of trivia about Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. The story is basically based on the Roman legend 'the Rape of the Sabine Women' (which is actually an inaccurate translation as the Latin root doesn't imply sexual assault but kidnapping). In fact, the song 'Sobbin' Women' makes allusions to it. Sobbin' = Sabine.

@tnp I'm aware. They use the story as the reason for why the Pontipee brothers go into town to kidnap all their girls. XD Milly herself is reading from it the night the menfolk all try to make up excuses for going into the house to see their respective ladyfriends! Its part of the reason why Milly gets so mad at him when they get back, he tries to pass the buck to her by saying it was really HER idea since she had the book.

...I may have watched the movie a bit too much. >.>

(It's not so much an inaccurate translation as it is the word has evolved, so it was accurate when it was translated but isn't now... which is arguably making it an inaccurate translation. Carry on.)

Ehhh, it's not a wildly divergent evolution of the word in this case. The Romans were kidnapping the women to marry them, the Romans weren't going to take no for an answer when it came time for the marriage ceremonies, and the Romans were definitely going to consummate the marriages, so the Rape of the Sabines still is an accurate title for the historical event.

@ominous There's some vague debate as to whether they were kidnapping, or "kidnapping". But that's way beyond the scope of this thread.
