@ganymede My cousin's daughter thought the same about GoldenEye 64 when she told me was 'really good at old shooters'.

Dear child, you come at the king, you better not miss.

      are you challenging me

@ganymede Look. There comes a day in every child's life where they have to realize that 'growing up' with a game means different things to an 8 year old than a 38 year old. My kids like to try to school me at games now and then. And then I remind them that mom has been gaming since she was old enough to hold an Atari joystick and Nintendo gun. And that while they grew up with games that could be paused and saved or the ability to avoid characters that are annoying... mom grew up with games that HAD to be won in a single run, and that damned dog snickering every 90 seconds.

          RL THING I LOVE

Finished a painful (for my non-math brain) stats assignment. I don't even care if I pass it at this point, it is DONE.

I can't wait for the day they try to challenge me in fencing or archery, then.

The best thing about having 3 kiddos at uni is that I get to send care packages to them! (just sent off finals prep care packages). It kinda makes me a little sad I don't snail mail pen pal anymore (lack of energy/time) because that too was fun to put together a little package for a friend now and then too.

My youngest son, on his own, went out and got himself an after school job so that he can stop asking me for money for the things he wants. This is one of those moments as a parent where I am just... so proud. You teach them, and you hope, and then they do something like this.

One of my friends' second proudest day was when he absolutely destroyed his kid in an 1:1 basketball game.

His proudest day was a year and a half later when his kid destroyed him.

I'm back at uni. Can I sign up for these care packages too?

I've said this a lot. I know I have. But it bears it repeating. Since the borders closed between the US and Canada had closed, we have been cut from from family. Until yesterday. Yesterday after almost 2 years of NOT seeing my step children, I got them yesterday. For the weekend. Brought to us by my mother in law. Who will be also bring them home Sunday. Canadians no longer have to do the covid testing if they're gone less than 72 hrs, so she's helping us. I've been crying a lot. πŸ˜ƒ

We are all more than our worst moments.

I met PhilosophyTube in person and she liked my boots.

I die happy now. My life is complete.

She gave a fiercely powerful speech advocating for the desegregation of trans healthcare in my country. (E.g., the same access to HRT that cis people have without an arduous interrogation & waiting list.)

Upon realising she was in the area (I genuinely had no idea she would be there, a lot else was going on around this) I had a mini excitement freakout during which I secretly professed my undying love for her to two nearby acquaintances of mine. They gently cajoled me into approaching her, flanked me en route, and then graciously held back a step while I did my very best to seem like a normal/healthy/respectful adult in expressing my cordial admiration for her work. We complimented each other's style, I am elevated to a new plane of existence by this, and then I extracted myself so as to stay out of her way for the rest of the day and confine my remaining 'OMG's to said acquaintances who helped me navigate the aftermath of this emotional time.

I have good wingpeople, and also good boots. One of said wingpeople had actually complimented the boots separately before Abigail did so, and was smugly validated in their judgement.

I actually hate the boots but I guess now I have to keep them forever.

You have to put them in a glass case with a placard that marks them as existentially important and necessary for preservation.

Then you can never wear them again.

                                Double win!

Chrome 'profiles'. I don't plug in my computer a lot these days because I do most things from my phone. So when I need a computer at home it's 10000000 times easier just to sit at my husband's. I don't want to log him out of all the stuff though, so the fact that I can have a profile on his computer it ~wonderful~.

Moving my couch to block the patio door has really done wonders for keeping the downstairs warmer.
